I don't get how one can be pro-life (of the 'abortion is murder' variety) and support Russia of all places. Granted, over the past 15 years they've reduced their abortion rate to about average for Eastern bloc countries, but they were still aborting more than half of all pregnancies as recently as 2006. How can you think a nation full of people who were until very recently ok with murdering (by your definition) half their babies can be seen as a moral authority on anything.

Anyway my own position on this is pretty similar to @mensch, I don't think it's a good thing and should be kept as rare as possible, by means of contraception, encouraging formation of stable relationships before having sex, and financial support for prospective parents. However I don't view it as morally equivalent to murder, even if technically it is a form of homicide. Of course, I'm probably biased because

But I really think 'mens rea' is of relevance here and there is a definite difference in mindset between someone who commits infanticide and someone who has an early-term abortion.

How is the homicide of a child not equivalent to murder? I guess you could argue it's even worse than "normal murder" since the victim is so utterly defenseless and innocent. Knowing people personally who partook doesn't really excuse anything. I've known at least one person who had an abortion as well (almost certainly more, statistically speaking, they just didn't tell the rest of us about it). I am sure that she did not and does not consider herself a murderer. That doesn't mean I can't recognize in the abstract the undeniable evil of the act. If one of my friends did all of a sudden commit a murder, I wouldn't retroactively decide "well now that I know someone who did it, I guess murder isn't actually all that bad after all." Peak woman logic.

What do science and statistics say about the distribution of genders within the pedophile population?

My actual guess is that taking a sample of people who have been charged with pedophilia and gathering gender data on them, that there would be more men than women. Could be due to men in general having higher rates of sexual crimes, as well as less reporting for female sex crimes. This is different than OP's claim that all men are pedophiles, or that men are more likely to be pedophiles.

Now I wonder what it would be if we included transwomen and transmen as separate gender variable levels
