You've never had sex or been in a relationship before. You don't understand any of this. Reading blog posts on the internet does not make you an expert on these things
When's the sequel to Douglas coming out?
None of that is a trend. That's how shit has always been. Only difference is back when that shit wasn't openly discussed and abortion used to be way less safe and reliable (and as a result there was a lot more actual baby killing).
People have always liked to fuck, they've always had shitty relationships, and always been ending unwanted pregnancies (or died trying). The idea that there was some magical time and place where people exclusively had sex for procreation, never outside of that, and relationships were always happy and healthy and all babies were wanted and treated like precious gifts is a fairy tale.
As much as shit can suck now, I'm glad I live in a time and place where I wasn't forced to marry some creepy old man and get pregnant as child, can get everything from vaccines to birth control, am not forced to stay in an abusive marriage, wasn't thrown in an asylum and left to rot, wasn't forced to endure conversion "therapy", didn't get lobotomized, etc.
I can't say I disagree on much. I think the scale was smaller back then, and that it's definitely more accepted and common now.
I disagree that there was more 'actual baby killing' because abortion
is baby killing. Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm not going to change my mind on that, likely neither are you. This thread is people nihilisticaly screaming into the void and insulting each other to kill time. Which is fine. I'm doing this between waiting for data to generate from a DNA primer program and watching the Conjuring again. I don't think anyone is taking this particularly seriously, I like writing long sperposts because I love the sound of my own voice, even in written form.
But the bottom paragraph I agree with, well except for the conversion therapy. Gays are degenerate and should be punished; but I don't care enough to actively try and fight for that. But the vaccines, birth control, avenues of escape from abuse; all good things. Kinda reminds me of the divorce law thing, where when it first came in people started saying that it was destroying marriages. If you divorce the moment the law lets you (literally in the first month of it being passed there was a massive influx of divorces) then your marriage was already over.
I think it's something like 50% of people get divorced, which is sad yeah; but it also means 50% of people at the very least aren't living in a loveless marriage. I think I said earlier that the biggest killers of women are things like heart attacks, and their own partners/'exes. So things that help reduce both those numbers are pretty good. Women should go for runs more, eat more greens and white meats; men should beat the shit out of their sons if they hit their girlfriend, and raise them properly so they don't hit their girlfriend. You know, healthy living stuff.
I think people are probably less happy now than they were in some nebulous fifties haze time, but that's because the world is just kinda shitty right now, irrespective of things like abortion. Purpose brings fulfillment and happiness, and most people are pretty rudderless. It'll swing around though.
Worsening? For the most part shit is getting better. Unless you think women having more freedom to not be treated like livestock and child marriage not being ok is a problem for some reason.
Things aren't getting better; they're just swinging along. It'll swing around again at some point and our great, great, great, great, great grankids will probably be getting particle beam pulsed to death in cyber trenches, or fight each other with sticks after the big boom boom fight. Women are more free to be consumerist slaves to large corporations, while paki rape gangs are free to abuse them and not get prosecuted. History doesn't end, everything keeps on changing.
We live in an era that is better than...well, all of history for most people actually in terms of material wealth. I'm on track for an upper middle class income, as is my sister. My mother is already there, we're all pretty healthy with no diseases. If things hold I'll be well off until I die. Probably won't hold though. Might do though, who knows.
