I feel like waking up in hospital, seeing his mother and father would have been preferable. Especially if they add ambiguity on Isaac's condition or if the parents stick around this time. The new ending is worse than all a dream ending.

Knock yourself out, this has (almost) everything Edmund did till super meat boy, games comics movies etc etc. Basement collection is just the game stuff. He used to sell this collection as a disk like soundcloud rappers used to in 2013. Thank God somebody put this online cause it's really good.

Wow, what a ghost from the past! Didn't get into this but I recognized how it feels like a flash game from the good 00s (because it used to be). Doesn't the newest ending imply Isaac was taken by his father and everything is a tale that he retells? I don't get where you get "Isaac is in Heaven".

Edmund has repeatedly stated (even after Repentance came out) that Isaac is dead after he suffocates in his toy chest. The newest ending explicitly features Isaac ascending to heaven, so the dad segment at the end is likely what Isaac's heaven looks like.

I thought it was obvious that I was joking, but apparently not. I’m saying the people making these “new” discoveries about Edmund could have instead just looked at an official collection that’s been on Steam for over a decade.

Has it been? I got the impression that every other cutscene was part of the story being told in the drawn cutscenes, and that the whole thing was retconned as Isaac having a normal happy family while his dad humors his son’s bizarre storytelling.

Like I wrote, it was all a story, with the death either not happening, or told to Isaac in heaven. Unless I'm missing something and Isaac reaching the ending gets him into heaven and changes his memories to be that the traumatic events didn't happen to him.

Here's a batshit take: The storytime with Dad ending is the alternate universe wherein Dad never left, he continued attending to his child and intervened with care when he found the dark stories and drawings Isaac made that were shown to stoke his mother's insanity so much in other endings.
