Funnily enough, that one caught a lot of heat from social activist types, most notably Spike Lee, who bitched and moaned that the show was promoting black stereotypes. This despite the show being created by a black comedian and had a mostly black cast.
I like many of Spike Lee's films, but he's kind of a lolcow. He tried to sue the now-defunct Spike TV because somehow he owns the right to any use of the word Spike and it was a reference to him or some shit. And then there's his wailing about how Quentin Tarantino is the one white man in the world with an unlimited N word pass (given to him by Samuel L. Jackson).

Yeah it sounds like if Spike Lee wasn't a famous director. He would totally have a thread here

As an African-American, I find myself agreeing, even sympathizing with Aaron's Black characters and his intended critiques on Black critques.

Uncle Ruckus, Tom Debouis, and Huey are underappericated characters of The Boondocks' genius writing.

Despite being Black himself, Uncle Ruckus rips on Black people every chance he gets. Basically, a self-hating caricature of his own Blackness.

The BET spoof episode, Uncle Ruckus's Reality Show, perfectly encapsulates that trope well with biting satire.

Don’t forget the story mode of that basketball game, Livin Da Dream.

I mean for all his bullshit, sometimes you can't disagree with him.
I think that much like Huey is his personal self-insert, where he says the shit he can say in public anyway, Uncle Ruckus is his self-insert where he says the shit he can't say in public, and puts it in the mouth of this sort of crazy jester character.

Uncle Ruckus was basically what Cartman was to South Park, except the only difference was that one was a 10 year-old that never knew his father and thought that his mother was just another promiscuous woman who cares so much for him while not caring for herself. Meanwhile, Ruckus never had the support from own his father unlike his mother, and wished to be loved by him while trying to find a father figure that he can relate to (see Jimmy Rebel, for example).

Overall, Ruckus was a deep character and slightly better analyzed than Huey could ever be. Plus, his meme material is 100x better than Huey’s:

That was probably my absolute favorite episode of Boondocks. Completely lost my shit when he pulled out the job application.

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing an Uncle Ruckus Show. Set it somewhere other than Woodcrest, have the first episode be Uncle explaining about why he's leaving town in a sort of montage. Maybe have him move to the south. The show can serve the same function of being a critique on the black community, only now it's central character will be Ruckus. And it gives them a chance to make all new characters to serve as various archtypes within the black community. They shouldn't be 1 for 1 reskins of the old characters, but new and unique ones.
Would be good to see what Aaron McGruder could come up with.

The Boondocks did my nigga Bob Ross dirty.
It was still kind of funny though.
To be fair, they portrayed him as being as skilled and gentle as a criminal as he was as a painter. Note the way he expertly disabled the lead 2 police cars without any loss of life.
Chad as fuck.

If only I had a sibling of my own to have a random BB gun fight in a big mansion of a house

Also, remember that episode when it had Uncle Ruckus as a babysitter? Only to then get ran out of the house by both of them?

Funny stuff.

The only issue is I can see whatever platform airing the show would be very restrictive on McGruder since many networks seem more sensitive than ever especially in America.
Except when it comes to shoving Pride Month slogans down your throat every June for 30 days straight.

Well yeah but I meant more I worry they'll make McGruder unable to portray things as he likes since so many people nowadays have developed a white savior complex where they deem things racist even if the racist thing was made by someone of that group like when several white liberals called The Boondocks racist.
