Imagine Anthony Starr saying the "I DID IT!" line. Would be unironically kino.

Why can't we have nice things?

You are not allowed to have nice things.

Little autistic nitpic.

The part where Homelander begs to eat shit on TV for his survival is slightly edited in post (Or maybe a deleted scene) when the TV plays back the "Live camera FOV" He adds that he will eat his shit on live TV.

Dont know why they added that besides for the team to stroke their cock afterward: "YES! This will make orange man mad and ME the martyr!"

What the fuck is going on with TV, in the last few years especially? First you have cast and crew from The Bear coming out to say "well it's not SUPPOSED to be satisfying" after criticisms that two seasons essentially went nowhere, The Pitt writers complaining that fans don't "understand" the show after viewers didn't like all the dropped plots and lack of intrigue in the second season, now we can't even expect a big balls-out superhero fight bonanza in a series finale and have to be satisfied with an AI-ass conclusion?

We have a generation of writers proud to be lazy and they get mad when they don't get praise for being "revolutionary"

I might be desensitized to shitty writing but I think that those five seasons were kind of fine in this simpleminded time-wasting way. Don't have high hopes - don't get upset for something being sub-par.

Only thing that was a letdown was, indeed, a finale - you can just feel the lack of budget and desire to end this with a whimper.

He would make a good Coriolanus too, speaking of another egomaniacal hero figure who looked upon the average person with contempt, voluntarily died in a burst of "glory", and had the same Iconic line.

Every writer is a nepotism hire or using A.I. or in some cases both. The talent is gone. And many writers have no passion for art and are just there to take an easy $250K a year job that they can't get fired from. You see with a lot of shows that they hire veteran writers for the first season. Then they replace the entire writing team for every successive season with women and troons and other useless hacks.

Then you have the streaming model. No more syndication or DVDs or Blurays. The economic model for streaming is to churn out new shows and movies every month to keep people subscribing. And to grab media rights for sports to have a steady yearly programming schedule for subscribers. It's all about pushing subscriber figures, advertising numbers, and stock prices. The actual products for these companies are just stocks now.

You can pretty much label your own show as "prestige TV" now even if it's shitty.

This isn't like back when people were first watching The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc. Now you tell them ahead of time that your show is great and they are racist chuds if they don't like it because in reality it fucking sucks.

Crossposting, but a TV Tropes user had this to say about the reaction the finale is getting (along with bragging about the TV Tropes community mindset).

I'm about 90% convinced that season 5, all together, was brought to you by chatgpt. Randomly turning kimiko into soldier boy during the last two episodes is exactly the kind of random shit chatgpt is good for.
That and flip-flopping Soldier Boy who randomly loves Stormfront.

AI would just add this point to 'establish drama and character depth'.

AI writing the final season after being fed the rest of the show makes basically everything about it make far more sense.

It's because most artists are autistic leftists who do not view art as a medium to entertain or explore aspects of the human experience, it's just a tool to culturally enforce their beliefs onto the retarded goycattle. Everything they write is bad because it was never written with any intention of being a good story, ideology supersedes all else. All the other bullshit is downstream from this.

If you don't laugh at orange man bad or clap so hard your dilator falls out when a strong black woman talks down to an emasculated wigga then you're exactly who they want to alienate. These shows stay relevant and popular for years because TV and animation is a digital media and no one dominates the digital world more than people who have nothing in the real one. The hordes of fags and consoomers that live vicariously through xitter will always have 10x more impact on social media trends and culturally relevant topics than you.

It's obviously to see their strawman version of Trump humiliated, TDS would be studied by scientists in the future.

Even if homelander would have lost his powers wouldn't he still be physically strong it takes 2 punches to finish him lmao he could have also escaped in 2 seconds and the deep was killed by a regular octopus and oh father was killed by someone holding a ball gag over his mouth the logical outcome would have been that the plastic ball explodes and kill hughie not his face exploding

Troon shit went through the autism community like crack through the black community

Half the incels in the world decided that they are actually "women" and the other half are fucking their bussies in a totally not gay way.

This is the only way either cohort can have sex because real women find them repulsive.

Off-topic, but you remind me of that scene in American Gods where the black goddess woman is sexing up a nerdy, shy blob of a man and absorbs him into her vagina, and my first thought was "What kind of racist do you think I am?" when I tried to figure out what I was supposed to get out of that happening.

She's obviously a character in the series and not a villain, but she also has no problem gobbling up a man with kids whose worst crime was that he was naive that an attractive woman wanted to fuck him (I'd argue that some of the lines he was given to "worship" her with were kind of fed to him to make him seem less sympathetic). But I'm supposed to somehow at least respect this character? If the guy had been a criminal of some kind that deserved it, yeah, sure, I'd get behind that. But I didn't have to go out of my way to think there are people that found that sort of thing entertaining and empowering.

That's the kind of shit that I keep going back to every time I think about the state of modern writing. How incredibly transparent it is about who it wants you to like and who you so obviously need to hate. And how much you need explained to you about pretty much everything. There's no subtlety anymore. No moments of quiet where we get to sit with the characters and let them be who they are. It's always shuffling them from scene to scene, with an urgency to hit an obvious plot point because a character is predestined by the script, not because of the organic nature of the character.

I know some folks here don't like the Critical Drinker, but one of my favorite observations of his was, about The Rings of Power, was that you could pretty much tell everything you needed to know about a character and their story arc by what their identity was.

He would make a good Coriolanus too, speaking of another egomaniacal hero figure who looked upon the average person with contempt, voluntarily died in a burst of "glory", and had the same Iconic line.
The way things are going, we'll have a Hunger Games reboot before too long and I gotta say, I don't hate Antony Starr taking up the mantle of Donald Sutherland. But that's really the only thing I can give it.

Two words: Seth Rogen

Well, in the comic homelander is a fag who makes soldier boy have sex with him to be let on to the 7 (and then doesn't)
I strongly contest anyone calling The Boys or any of these deconstruction-type shows "slop". Slop is, by definition, made without passion to appeal to the widest, most lucrative audience possible; there's no investment in the quality or artistic integrity of the final product. That's not to say that The Boys has artistic integrity or quality, but unlike your typical slop, it is animated entirely by spite.

You truly feel Kripke's neurosis and hatred of the goyim radiate from every frame. It's really the only thing that made the show worth paying attention to, if only as a marvel of (ironically, uncut) Jewish psychosis.
I mean hey, the joke's on the goycattle who actually watch this slop. At least the subhumans who watch shit like 9-11 aren't pretending to be pseudo intellectuals like the even more subhuman redditors who unironically love the goys.
