This dude probably.

I assume those burnt with the rest of the horde

Or at least melted. They're made of vinyl, so they melt very easily.

CED was kind of a terrible format anyway. Since it's read by a stylus, and the discs rotate at high speed, they wear down from repeated plays pretty quickly. The resolution was also not much better than VHS. The only real advantage they had over VHS was a more stable image.

It's not like laserdiscs where there was a clear resolution advantage over VHS and no physical contact to wear down the disc.

Yeah it was a really dumb format.

Looks like he kept a player around at least into the Classic era

I wonder what he watched on it (if it even worked etc), for something afaik he's not brought up. The stuff he brings up obsessing on like American Rabbit, MLP, or Transformers weren't on CED. The only thing listed under things he likes on the cwcki with one would be Mary Poppins.

Some youtubers have pointed out that if it had not been in development hell for decades, it could have been a good product for the late 60's, or even the very early 70's. CED discs were cheap to produce (unlike early VHS tapes) and laser tech was in its infancy at the time, making early laserdisc in the late 70's extremely expensive.

If it had beaten VHS and laserdisc to market, there probably would have been a healthy CED ecosystem.
