There are organized groups in popular retirement spots who systematically target wealthy retirees and, in partnership with crooked doctors, apply for conservatorship in the courts. In some cases, the conservatee isn't even made aware of it until their property is seized and they're shuffled off into a retirement home. No representation in court at all.

And these are complete strangers masquerading as 'social workers' and the like.

Is there not someone in Chris' life who could act in this role?

Chris is a bit of a jerk but he's also the way he is because practically everyone who should be looking out for him has utterly failed him. His parents actively fought against help he needed, his mother decided the horde meant more to her than her family, Bob could never quite twig what Chris needed. On top of that, his friends are all losers that run when things get rough and his councillor has never been useful one little bit.

I'ld seen some threads but thought Ideas Guy was just messing with the Sonichu comics. Which in of itself was painfully unfunny and very obvious.

I remember about 10 years ago, I had a neighbor who was in her dotage. She was a nice woman who for the most part was known and beloved to the rest of the block, and was constantly seen going on her errands about town. She was old enough to have seen just about everything, and we respected her for it.

About 2 years before she passed away, some random assjack nobody had ever seen before turned out to be living at her house. Somehow, through a process several of us have yet to fully fathom, he had gotten into her life, convinced her that he had influence with the police and with the bank, and attached himself to her and her estate like a tumor. Nobody - not the cops, not her own family, and certainly none of her neighbors - could do a fucking thing about it because she wouldn't take action against him on her own (even when he started doing illegal modifications to her house and beat her several times). The asshole was omnipresent in her life until about a year later when he got nailed by the cops for having like 40 pounds of weed at a traffic stop. When he was finally sent off, he had wracked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and her house was now insolvent.

Just about anyone can be vulnerable to this sort of parasitism and there isn't really much that anyone cares to do about it. It sucks.

Jesus Christ. For all the dumb stuff Chris has done over the years, being extorted and blackmailed by a couple psycho assholes isn't deserved. Not even close. Overall, Chris is pretty damn harmless, he's just a super gullible sperg who has a penchant for making bad decisions. Whether he "chose to shit on the floor" or not, this is all still blackmail and I'm pretty goddamn sure that's illegal. The fact the police are sitting on their asses and doing nothing just really toasts my marshmallows, especially Rocky, who professes to give a shit about Chris. No, Chris loves those and I'd love for him to be able to go and have a good time.

He does seem to have a nice time at those most of the time, but feel like he needs a buddy with him to make sure things go okay. But I suppose more was thinking of Games Done Quick as I recalled in that thread you were very angry about the way that had been organised for Chris. But I'm glad that's not part of the deception on Chris at least, as he seemed to genuinely enjoy these events.

Chris is an unintelligent man, to put things lightly, but he's also an unintelligent man in a bad situation. A mother who extorts her own son, a "friend" who cares more about her own public image, and an unqualified counselor who in the past has acted as nothing more than an enabler and gives unequivocally awful advice and makes horrendous decisions on her patient's behalf; which is all on top of him being a constant target of trolling. But there's a difference between harmless trolling where you annoy a person to a point that they fruitlessly scream at a threat that isn't there, and then there's outright malicious torture and manipulation with zero empathy for your fellow man. These people are disgusting, absolute scum. They're old enough to know better, they've had plenty of time to think otherwise, and have been specifically told to stop what they're doing. Instead, they have actively chosen to behave in a pointlessly malicious way to the benefit of nobody, and that is the textbook definition of a truly careless, unempathetic sociopath.

You wouldn't even treat an animal with this much spite and cruelty, let alone ignoring that they're tricking him into harming himself and others. Whether or not you agree with the trolling Chris has received, you can at least point at the people responsible and claim that they were doing it for the entertainment of others, or that (a select few) trolling ventures were ultimately harmless. Nobody is amused by Chris being tricked into violence and self harm. It's ridiculous that it's an accurate descriptor to say this, but a person who uses Chris for money, extorts him, and has him hurting himself and others is genuine evil, and it's despicable. Despite how much amusement has been derived from Chris himself, anybody can see he's not sound of mind, and this situation is an entirely justified (if not deserved) claim for an intervention from law enforcement, especially if he's being extorted and tricked into the violation of his own rights and the violations of the rights of others.

I wouldn't be surprised if shit like this has been going on in between his many downtime's. who knows how many speds tricked him into doing horrible stuff over the past couple of years. Hell the sonic's arms incident could've been someone tricking him too.
