Rewatching his Indieland promotional material is definitely giving me scammer vibes now. Rattling off the same benefactors over and over (that he was never sending money to) and generally acting a bit nervous makes me think he 100 percent knew he was scamming everyone. I can’t unsee it now.

The explanation for the apparent fake quote from the Dean of UCSF they gave was that it was for a prior donation before the 'foundation' was started - but this man was fired in 2007, when their mother was still living. So while their mother is suffering from dementia and presumably needed specialized care, they were already making donations (Body parts? the brother claimed) large enough to get a thank you note from the Dean? Huh?

I’m probably just overthinking things while we sit and wait for some sort of response, but the way that Jirard’s family says that they donated “body parts” as a means to defend themselves in this scandal rubs me the wrong way. I’m assuming they mean they donated their mom’s body to dementia research, but them describing it as “they donated body parts” makes it seem like her corpse was their property, a damn asset that they oh-so-selflessly bequeathed upon a research lab.

Of course there seems to be two other possibilities:
1. They lied, which is obviously even worse, or
2. They donated body parts that aren’t their mom’s, in which case how the fuck lol

Am I the only one who has always been suspicious of the various 'charity fund raisers' alot of these gamers/speedrunners do? This is obviously much worse than most of those as it appears to be an outright scam, but some of these other charities that others have raised for are shady as hell too, such as 'Prevent Cancer Foundation' GDQ always raises for; their executives take a huge cut right off the top, and then alot of what they do spend on goes toward 'awareness', like the public isn't well aware of cancer.

I might be ignorant on this but any charity funding cancer awareness seems like a waste. Cancer awareness isn't funding research towards cancer, or helping patients, its money goes to advertise that "Cancer does exist and now you are aware of it".

but from what i was told cancer awareness when it comes to charitable donations is for funding campaigns to educate people on the symptoms of cancer

so for bowel cancer its things like running print and tv campaigns telling boomers to use the kits they send out, or to go get checked out if you notice blood in places it shouldnt be.

SKin cancer is another one where i am, where every summer the cancer council runs adds telling people to get mole mapped and see a doctor if you notice anything weird

so yeah, its less cancer exists and more, here are the things you need to be checking for because the longer you wait the worse it gets

When people die the hospital often asks you if you'd like to donate body parts to medical science or to be used in transplants like corneas and other bits and pieces.

It's strange that they listed this though because it doesn't really have anything to do with the charity. It's not as if Jirard donated a kidney lol

Greg simply wanted his share of the revenue for the videos he was in and said "We made those videos together, but they're on your account and only you are profiting from them. Pay me my share or take them down. If you don't, I'll take you to court."

Jirard flat out refused to share anything but was afraid of a lawsuit, so he pulled the videos and remade them without Greg. He tried to twist it as being something he was forced to do, but it wasn't.

He could've just paid Greg, but he absolutely refused to share ANY money or attention with Greg after their split.

Greg is under some sort of legal pressure to not talk about it and seems to have moved on.
