The courtroom will end up smelling like a fucking anime convention

At least link the archive you made.

You know these people are going to DFE when they smell a rat.

My bad, I thought I did in the post, I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of bullshit I endured.

It all makes sense now. They made a family foundation that has the same address as their personal business. They took checks and cash gifts from the golf charity and likely put them into their business, made up fake “consulting” clients, and funneled some of the money into Open Hand, pretending the funds were established from family money, when actually they were funded by public Indieland donations. They name the foundation “Open Hand Foundation” to ape off of Project Open Hand, a real charity that actually works with UCSF in a project that studies food nutrition on critically ill patients. Project Open Hand also feeds Alzheimer’s patients. So if any one asks these organizations about their partnership with the Open Hand Foundation, they will likely confuse it with Project Open Hand. So anyone doing fact checking will be deceived and assume Open Hand Foundation is legit, when in reality they are masking their fraud by imitating another charity project.

They were very likely never planning on donating any money to any charitable group. They were using the money for tax deductions through the foundation and chipping away at the funds for themselves. They were probably going to eventually put themselves on payroll, pay out the remaining cash amounts to themselves as retirement wages and close the foundation without anyone noticing.

Edit: I was looking the PBDwest website on the way back machine, and they change their company history.. a lot. At various times they have incorporated a company employee roster. I found three on linked in, none of them list PBD in their employer history. Even more interesting is that they declare themselves a ‘Delaware Corporation’, meaning they pay no corporate income tax. Delaware corporations are notorious for money laundering, shell companies, and conspiratorial tax dodging. So yeah….this is nuclear levels of shady.

Apparently all of this consulting is free of charge, and PBD gets paid in percentages of rebates given to the independent gas station owner. I have no idea how any of that works, but it sounds confusing.

This is the same company that shares the same exact address and phone number with The Open Hand foundation, right down the the same suite #. 2459 W 208th Street.

Yeah, I'd VERY briefly looked into PBD and it checked off pretty much every "This is shady" warning sign I've developed over the years. Just a few:
  • Provides a nebulous "Service" that seems overly niche for the amount of money it makes.
  • Employs mostly close family/relatives so there's very little outside accountability.
  • Takes credit for things that it can be VERIFIED they had nothing to do with.
  • Stays intentionally small so they can avoid attention.
  • Works in multiple states even though they're a "tiny company". Usually done to keep the numbers in each state looking artificially low enough not to gain suspicion.
At best, it's a shady company that probably does the equivalent of your average scalper, only with bulk inventory instead of PS5s and Amiibos.

It could very well be a money laundering front or shell company.

Mind-boggling how stupid it was to keep submitting those filings showing all the cash was unspent and still sitting somewhere. It would've been easy to create some fake donation or expense receipts to other foundations or hard to verify orgs, especially if everything else they did was so elaborate. If the 990's had looked halfway legit nobody would've ever been suspicious.

Probably not the topic to ask but what exactly is money laundering? I think I tried reading the Wikipedia article once but... well I expect Kiwis could explain it in a way that my brain can make sense of.
You have money that you have gained through illegal means, like drug dealing, charity fraud etc. now you wanna make that money available to you so you use shell companies that turn that money into legal money that you can actually. That's like super simplified eli5

So money laundering is basically this:
The IRS monitors income. It needs to know how people earn income so it can be taxed.

Hypothetically, people like drug dealers can’t use their drug money to buy a house. Because when the IRS comes, it wants documentation of how that income was earned.

So, let’s use PBD west as an example. They create a company, that really doesn’t do anything tangible. They aren’t creating products physically, so there’s no need to monitor assets or equipment. They take dirty untaxed money (let’s say hmmm Jirards Indieland money) and put it into the company. The company creates a book that fabricates clientele for “consulting” , and then they file the money as “earned income” for the companies tax filings. And walla, the money has been converted from dirty untraceable money to washed money that is now legitimate for spending.

Take it a step further, you can create a private foundation, and then register your personal business in the State of Delaware (which does not require corporate state tax, unlike California) as a “out of state business” and you can then take the money from your company, “donate” it in the foundation, and then writeoff a tax deductible, meaning the IRS will write you a check for the amount of the tax deductible.

JonTron seems to be the only person from Normal Boots who didn't get involved in some dumb scandal or drama.
I uh…hate to break this to ya buddy, but JonTron has been mired in several (arguably dumb) controversies on and off for almost the past 10 years.

Edit: if you were using the “Teflon” moniker to imply that none of the drama actually STUCK to him and prevented him from being successful, you probably have a point. But his reputation will probably never change in the eyes of most people.

One of which was his actual truth about the holocaust, which triggered people such as Ethan of H3H3. As a result, the dev team behind Yooka-Laylee had removed his VA role in the final product of that game

In simple terms it's making illegitimate money appear legitimate by running a shell company. Gas stations, nail salons, restaurants, and car washes are typically used as people still pay in case for a lot of these and there's a lot of customers fluctuations that can happen day to day. They take the illegitimate money and layer it into their business income. After that they transfer parts of it to different accounts to make it harder to track. Once they think they've successfully incorporated the money they begin to use it.

Here is a uhhh….wild read for anyone interested:

Maybe she is still in there? (Archive)

Some highlights:
-Jirard came from a rich family (that is obvious)
-Jirard's father, Charles, bought a flower shop for Karen to run
-Jirard's mother Karen became disenfranchised with motherhood around the time Jirard was ten
-Charles helped her start a music company
-Karen was terrible at running the business, and then she met a retired Kansas musician named Bill Head
-Bill and Karen started their own company, and took little Jirard with them on a music tour for 9 months
-Together Bill and Karen stole over $500,000 dollars of Charles money
-Jirard thinks there may be footage of him on a Trinity Broadcasting Network sermon getting smacked by a pastor
-Karen went from a stand up woman to a party girl
-Karen finally came home and demanded a divorce
-Charles only agreed if she went to a doctor
-Karen was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia

Also, Charles can not help himself by humble bragging about price gouging gas:

Holy shit, I saw this earlier today. This insane Bill Head story is briefly referenced in a trailer on his old channel. An argument between his parents about Bill is recreated.

There’s a newscast that goes into detail about it but it’s a trailer for a student film about his mom’s dementia.
