So, I'm currently playing Disgaea 5 right now and enjoying it. I've seen at least one or two people on here mention the games, so hey, why not make a thread talking about it?

What games have you played? Which one's your favorite? Least favorite? Favorite characters? ect.

In terms of story and characters, Hour of Darkness has yet to be topped for me. Although 4 comes pretty close. (Valvatorez ftw)

In terms of gameplay. It's a toss up between 4 and Disgaea D2. Although I'm liking some of the stuff 5 has brought to the table so far.

I've played all but the most recent one, as I don't have a PS4 yet. Hour of Darkness definitely gets my vote for best characters though. Laharl and company are easily my favorites.

I like everything about five but the protagonist. Killia is like Devil may Cry levels of edgy.

So far, (at Chapter 4 right now) I don't mind him too much. Yeah, he's no Laharl or Valvatorez, and he's pretty unoriginal in terms of his character. Still, I do like how he's primarily a fist user like Adell was back in Disgaea 2. If there's one very minor complaint I have with the games up to know, is that pretty much every MC besides the two I mentioned are sword users. I kinda hope in later games, they mix things up a bit in that regard.

I haven't finished D2 yet. D3 was the main reason I got a PS3 over a 360. D5 is the main reason I'll buy a PS4 (I mean, there are other games, but NIS is what keeps me in the Sony camp).

I liked the non-Disgaea entries more than Disgaea, but I always end up spending 200+ hours on Disgaea. I really wish I could play Soul Nomad right now. I wish they'd have developed Phantom Brave's engine more. I've never really enjoyed Disgaea's mechanics as much since I played Phantom Brave.

From the main series, I only played the first game way back when it first came out. I put over 120 hours into it. Apparently it's coming out for PC next year. Hopefully they're release the next games too.

I played some of the related series and couldn't get too into them. I disliked the lack of a grid in Phantom Brave: the game ends up looking like a kindergarten soccer game with everyone clustered around one point. I also tried Makai Kingdom - thought it was okay, but didn't get too far into it.

I might get the PC version, but only if they include the new playable characters from the often-forgotten DS version, which were Pleinair, Adell, Rozalin, and Zetta

The steam page says it'll have all the content of Afternoon of Darkness, the PSP version. Since that was also the name of the DS version, I have no idea if that means it'll have the DS stuff.

I might grab the PC version given all I played so far was the DS version, but I got enough RPGs to look forward to as it is.

I know I'm bumping, but I didn't notice it was here until now. Disgaea 5 was worth the money and I had no real problem with Killia. (Adel was my least favorite of the Disgaea main characters.) Although I wouldn't mind seeing Captain Gordon getting his own game.

Not a problem! : P

But yeah, Disgaea 5 in my opinion is definitely the best in the series so far in terms of gameplay. It was pretty decent story wise too I feel.

Got nearly 200 hours out of it.

That game will eat the heck out of your time.

I still need to get 5. Haven't had the chance yet.

If you're a Disgaea fan, you'll like it since they fixed some problems and now if you reincarnate a character you can having them start at a higher level if you have enough money.

Even though I finished it, looking back at it, I think Majorita is honestly one of the most evil characters in the series. Just for what she did in Toto Bunny alone.

I've played 1-3, and of those like 2 the best, though I've played demos of 4 and 5 and can say I'm interested. I just got the PSP version of 2 the other day thanks to that NIS sale on PSN and hope to sink my teeth into it soon. Word of warning about that version by the way: if you intend to play on Vita, the DLC won't work even if transferred from a PS3.

Edit: I tried workarounds, but the DLC simply will not work on a Vita, and you can't delete it once it's there either without formatting the card, so, uh, buyer beware?

Oh definitely. Super evil. And her overload ability is nuts. I managed to kill every character on the map(aside from her) in one turn without knowing what it did the first time I fought her. Oops.

Uh the new art style is, not good to say the least.

Well, I hope it's funny

Max level 99999999 and you can do 999999999999999999 points of damage. Can't wait for Disgaea 12 when they'll do a parody of this video:
