The Elder Scrolls

He did it to claim dibs on the name, so another team can't call theirs "the unofficial oblivion remastered patch." Which is usually a huge community contributed megapatch that fixes as much of the jank as possible.
not to mention that nexus jannie trannies seem to be okay with shartmoor being a complete retard, which means anyone that makes the "oblivion remastered community patch" will be banned and have the mod removed because shartmoor being a faggot, either he has dirt on the tranny jannies or misery loves company.

Like taking over the Institute in Fallout 4 so you can chabge the hostile direction they've been taking in the commonwealth and just like

You don't really get to object to anything the institute does once you're the leader. Bethesda really thought people would just say "this faction is evil, I have to destroy it" or "this faction is evil, I plan to change nothing once I'm in charge" and it's frankly annoying. All that technology is just completely fucking wasted by every other faction if you don't side with the institute.

You can't even refute your companions when they bitch at you for it. Like "hey retards, they can literally ressurect extinct animals, manufacture laborers that can survive in deadly conditions and modify our crops to thrive in the wasteland, if you wanted me to reject the ability to direct that to better serve the commonwealth you are a fucking retard, Piper, you fucking whore."
Hated that so much about the Institute in Fallout 4. I mean, a lot of writing in F4 was shite, but not being able to influence the direction of the Institute (which was supposed to go underground permanently with the fusion reactor anyway) or even explain yourself to anyone was really annoying.

Alright once I created my man jawed tranny abomination, I've been playing this game for about 3 hours probably more. No I didn't buy this game, it was free on Gamepass so I decided to schmooze my dad to give me his login (because he has it for some reason) which he acquiesced. A couple of things I've noticed:

1. Security feels surprisingly worthless as a skill? It's not a hard minigame, it just requires patience and picking the right time to lock in a tumbler because there's a certain set speed the tumblers will randomly fall out of lock and they'll break your lockpicks if you click it too early or too late. If it falls slow or if it stays in the lock for a second and a half, that's usually when to lock it in. The problem is it feels consistent for every difficulty, so you're basically applying that same logic to a very hard lockpick or a very easy one which honestly makes Security feel useless as a skill as a dump stat that you throw on for easy levels.

2. Speechcraft also feels worthless, but it's tied to a really annoying arbitrary stat calculation that determines how much disposition you can farm out of their minigame. So basically if you have 20 speech, you can only really max out the disposition at about 50 or 60, but if you have it higher, you get the idea. Bribes, however, break this minigame over its knee in half because they render any use of the minigame at all null and it's mainly due to the broken economy of this game which is a tangent in of itself.

3. Combat in this game feels utterly broken in this game which is surprising given that this is supposed to be a remaster and that was one of the core fundamentals people really did not enjoy about oblivion. Enemies will take a shot at you and you would think that would be a moment to swing your blade, but they'll just immediately block with no transitional animation which will stagger your character and then the enemy will just swing wildly at you draining your health significantly. The damage scaling is also really bad. I found an enchanted sword during a quest to resolve a merchant's dilemma and because my skill is only at 30ish, it only does 3 damage or 3 multiplier (I don't know what this number means or what it signifies). Because I dirty leveled through speechcraft and security up to level 3, now enemies are scaled to my level and this "powerful sword" I picked up hits about as much as an inflatable hammer. I don't know if there's a mod that fixes this, but it's one of the things that's killing my interest in this game and just making me want to throw on Morrowind again because in morrowind, damage was a flat stat. The only modifier that changed was hit modifier meaning the challenge in combat was hitting your enemy and trying to figure out which fighting style to use in accordance to your weapon.

That's just a couple. I'm curious to know what people think.

Yakubian niggers who sank their old homeland into the sea by getting so good at swordplay that one of them sliced an atom.
This was one of my first introductions into Elder Scroll’s lore (even though it was being debated if that was what caused the sinking), and I had to get a game at that point. The lore is so drug fueled, you’ll feel like you did them too after a couple hours reading it.

Damage in Morrowind was not a flat stat, lol. Damage in Morrowind is dependent on strength and, much more annoyingly, the condition of the weapon you're swinging.

Just level up your Strength and/or Agility and swing an appropriate weapon, retard. It's really that easy. You'll gain level ups for your chosen weapon pretty fast. There are easy to access trainers in pretty much every Fighters Guild.

Wait, that wasn't a joke? That's in the lore? Guy got so good at swords he split atoms? The fuck?

Don't think of TES "Unofficial Patch"es as an open source, community led effort. Think of it as a vanity project for egotistical autists (see: Arthmoor). They tend to mix actual bug fixes with unnecessary changes, even introducing their own bugs. For example, UOP incorporates thousands of new records solely dedicated to adjusting NPC hair and eyes. Why? Because Arthmoor is a retard and thought that something intentionally being set to a default value meant it was a bug. And then he will leave stuff like trees and bushes floating in the sky, or break meshes that weren't even broken in vanilla. I'm sure I can remember more madness if I think on it.

As to why Oblivion community hasn't gotten a proper patch? Honestly, Oblivion modding kinda sucks and it always has. In its heyday, most people just would go with the flow and only really cared to see their anime OC donut steals in motion. After Skyrim came out, most people moved to it (and later Morrowind) and stopped caring for Oblivion almost altogether. Morrowind modding scene didn't accept their trashy unofficial patch, which is why it was practically ousted in favor of Code Patch + Patch for Purists.

One god bit off another god's dick after a measuring contest then stabbed the chosen one through the heart with his own dick after other gods cut off the chosen one's face and feet. This is all 100% real.

Also in Skyrim the landmass was literally shouted apart during an argument between a couple of Thu'um users.

Yep, Yokudan sword-singers cut so clean they accidentally did a fission explosion and had to move to Tamriel.
There was allegedly a race of "lefthanded elves" that got wiped out when Yokuda sank (some even say the atom that sword-singer cut belonged to an elf usurper), which is why Pelinal considered the Redguards to be "pretty cool dudes" and Alessia accepted them as honorary imperials.

Bretons are half-elf mutts, hence their affinity for magic, and have French-ish names
They might have French-ish names but they’re clearly supposed to be English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish types AKA Britons.
Nords are self explanatory Nordic/Germanic types.
Imperials are Italians/Romans.
Redguards look ethnically Sub-Saharan African but culturally are more similar to Arabs/Egyptians.
The elves are various types of Jews from what I can gather.
Khajiit are Romani/Gypsies.
Argonians are Aztecs.

If you give money to Bethesda, you're a retard. Simple as.
I'll just torrent it later and mod the fuck out of it.

he doesn't give permission to anyone to make any forks
Let's assume I'm a retarded faggot: what can he do about someone forking it?
I expect Nexus would smack down any attempt at fucking with him, but we could just host it somewhere else.

I liked the amount of overhauls for Oblivion, OOO, MMM, Maskar's, Waalx, the massive clusterfuck that was FCOM.

Also the Germans loved Oblivion, with Nehrim, and expansion sized mods like Order of the Dragon

Somehow even in this 100% remake I managed to run into a major quest bug. During the Battle for Castle Kvatch the guard captain dude (whatever the fuck his name is) got stuck in the courtyard and wouldn’t acknowledge that all the enemies there had been killed. The quest was still fixable as you could just grab the signet ring to bring the quest to the end but jfc. The more things change the more they stay the same I guess. Maybe someone mentioned this here already but I don’t care I’m not fully reading 150+ pages of sperging

Idk if it’s exactly equivalent to that or not, but one of the ideas is that through “sword singing” (black shouting) they sunk their original continent.

What other race stereotypes are in the lore? So far I've seen argonians being refered to as farming equipment the most
Nords are backwards, barbaric snow-apes who fight amongst themselves just as much as they do others. Bretons have stereotypes of being a degenerated, inbred race of mongrels especially Reachmen who canonically are a mixture of bretons, orcs, nords and by the PGE's admision all manner of species.

A couple of things I've noticed:
That's just how Oblivion worked. It was a badly designed game. It's not really fixable
It's fixable. Speechcraft and Security suck because their minigames suck and feel redundant when you can bribe/do enough quests to be so famous that everyone likes you automatically. Fixing the economy is a tall order that would produce knock on effects to every money sink in the game so I won't even suggest that. Instead, they could've nerfed the fame stat and replace the minigames. You could even reuse the current persuasion interface but just change the mechanics behind it. For security, just reuse Skyrim's system or reimplement Morrowind's probability based lockpicking.

As for combat, there's two major issues that make melee feel weak - Strength/Agility being nerfed from Morrowind and early game armor being too brittle. There is no good reason for why combat skills vastly outpace their governing attributes in stat returns, especially since you need the latter to be levelled to increase the levelling cap of the former. Your weapons and armor also degrade much too quickly until you're a journeyman in the relevant skills. Both issues could've been solved without having to rewrite the whole game.

Addressing stuff like this is why remasters and remakes should be made in the first place. Obviously the real reason they get made is to commercialize nostalgia, but if they're gonna be so transparently cynical and not even try to fix the gameplay flaws of the game they may as well just do a re-release of the original title with a technical resolution bump and greater mod support ala Skyrim Special Edition. I'd buy this if it was sold at half the price as a technical upgrade of the original and not some pygmy thing with UE5 lighting.

Nothing really, but like you said hosting it on Nexus to be a non-starter. That would be thanks to the overall autism and ego of the Bethesda modding community compared to others I imagine instead of Nexus policy. (Edit: Arthmoor also has a precedent of DMCA'ing and trying to get mods counter to this or in any way made in opposition to this taken down.)

Bethesda modders would likely rally behind Arthmoor despite his reputation; if forks became normalised it might dilute their overall 'fame' in the modding community if people provide better alternatives to existing mods based on the framework of older ones. The Bethesda modding community is the only community which is like this, either because the mods require more 'effort' or because they hold themselves to a higher regard since they're acknowledged by the developers.

This is why modpacks existed for Minecraft (I.E. Tekkit) and other games (HIP for Crusader Kings 2) by the way, but didn't for Bethesda titles until automated installers like Vortex and Wabbajack became a thing. These installers download a pre-made list of mods from the Nexus and automated giving out endorsements whilst also making the download figure go up on the modpage. That's why it took 10 years after the release of Skyrim to finally help mitigate the tedium of downloading a lot of mods which was already rectified everywhere else — Bethesda modders.

Anyway, as another user pointed out, Arthmoor probably rushed to get his unofficial patch out in order to remain relevant in the modding community, and just like with Skyrim and Oblivion, to keep his mod 'important' to the functionality of other mods.

His reputation has soured so badly amongst Bethesda fans that they made an effort to get out an unofficial patch for Starfield before he could release his, intending to also name the name 'Unofficial Starfield Patch'. They failed at the endeavour (a community of haters vs 1 obsessed autist, go figure — but also note the mod was 'ready' before the game's official release date) but the community mod is more popular than Arthmoor's, so they lost the battle but won the war.

SFCP: 7K+ Endorsements.

Arthmoor: 852 endorsements.

It's just a shame this was done for Starfield of all things. Maybe he'll become truly irrelevant if a similar undertaking can happen for the next Fallout or Elder Scrolls.

As an aside for anyone unfamiliar: Arthmoor's unofficial patches go beyond just fixing bugs, they also implement retarded changes. Three notable examples in Skyrim that stuck out to me:
1. Re-implementing a placeholder line of dialogue for the first dragon you kill that sounds awful.
2. When you become Arch-mage, the mod gives you two sets of robes (hood and hoodless) and makes it so you can't wear circlets or masks with either of them. This is because they have a 'hood' (it's attached to the robes, not a separate armour piece) and you can't wear those things with hoods ordinarily, so putting a circlet on your head forces you to remove the entire robe. This basically makes the robes a waste of space.
3. Any and all exploits (Smithing xp, potion crafting) were also culled.

Here's a link to some redditors discussing more of these changes.

I think he implements these shitty little touches as a quasi-form of DRM, since you could fork it, claim it's a bugfix mod of your own design, and then he'd autistically look for the little traces of pointlessness that were trademarks of his mod to determine whether or not you were lying.

I think with Bretons they are more based on the Bretons of Brittinay, France, just with a bit more pan-celtic flavouring thrown in. The Reachmen lean more into the celtic stuff.
Dunmer are a weird Egypt, Japan, Arab, Mesopotamian, Indian mish-mash
Altmer are a Japan, renaissance Europe, roman , Indian mish-mash.
Heartland Imperials are more Roman
Nibenesse are more Etruscan
Colovians are more Italicised germans (lombards etc
