Microsoft doesn't care about exclusives in gaming, they are all about the game pass money.

Plus ES6 and Starfield will be ~free~ on Xbox and $60-70 on PS5, expansions then cost money on the PS5 but not on the Xbox. In the console space that makes the Xbox/Gamepass ecosystem look good. I'm not entirely convinced that the next Doom and Wolfenstein will be available on PS5, it feels relatively likely, but after that I'm fairly certain that they will be Gamepass exclusives. Maybe they will roll that out on the PS5, 6 or 7 at some point?

'Membef when TES wasn't dumbed down that much? Like, gimme a mixture of Morrowind and Skyrim, where you have more stats again and perks are included.

I want climbing back! Playing Morrowind it annoyed me that I couldn't climb walls(and accidentally leap into the stratosphere by running and jumping off the edge).

I like that idea too, then you actually read Kirkbride's vision of futuristic Tamriel. But still, as cool as that idea is, why can't Pelinal just be a Shezzarine driven mad by the gods, to the point that he can see snippets of the future? Why can't the rest of the literature about him, like the beams of light he fired or claims that he massacred thousands and thousands of elves to the point the land got fucked up, be embellishment? Why does every fun over-exaggerated story in the lore need to have an actual cosmic explanation?

Because pedantic folks need explanations so they can show off their E-peens and "speak with authority" about a made up world. Which runs counter to what makes TES lore so fun, i.e. the unreliable narrator aspect. Few; if any, things are set in stone in the lore.

True. I still prefer the idea that Pelinal was an actual cyborg with a laser-beam cannon for an arm and a ruby for a heart.

Some of Kirkbride's ideas are interesting and unique and would make for some good content, like the Thalmor's supposed true goals, some lore for races, the origin of Minotaurs, how Lorkhan fell, etc

While many others are just batshit stupid or insane, or its just him wanking himself off for the sake of his ego.

The man needed a fucking editor to hold him down or someone to stop him from ever joining reddit where he just went all out on the smug.

ESO was also better off not introducing cosmic bullshit to explain how Kirkbride's version of Cyrodiil actually still existed somehow and just leaving it as an example of historical misinterpretation or propaganda. I mean there are still people who sperg over "muh rice-based economy" or complain about the lack of giant walking trees despite how inadequate this would be in-game wise while also ignoring that Cyrodiil as we see it in IV predates Kirkbride's ideas. Not everything Kirkbride says has to be treated as Gospel.

Only downside is that Skyrim ended up being too low fantasy by distancing itself too far from his bullshit. I mean hell you don't even see any dreugh or snow whales. Some compromise on one end and moderation on the other would do wonders. But not in the way ESO handled it.

I don't have a problem with Elder Scrolls going low fantasy for a game or two. Lorewise, it's known that whatever mechanic allows people to use magic has been diminishing for a long time. The problem is Bethesda not making that known to players who aren't autists, and that the in-world people going on like life is still like it always was and not innovating in industry to pick up the slack in standard of living that magic being gone would cause to decline. For fuck's sake, Dwemer machinery is still leagues ahead of modern stuff, and they've been gone for centuries.

That's the beauty of the unreliable narrator. Like in the real world; Genesis says Enoch lived 365 years before he was taken by God. To some that means he just died, but others take it as meaning he never died and was taken up while still living. Or the Tamam Shud case, some say the guy was a spy, or maybe he was a sex tourist who got offed to be robbed or something.

Do you pronounce CHIM rhyming with "Tim" or "Time"? I initially said Chimer like "kaimer", since it's one letter short of "chimera", but now I'm not sure.
