There is just something about how voice actors for mods speak that makes me cringe super hard. It's the same with 'twitter voice actors', specifically the women for some reason. It's like they are trying too hard or something. I can only assume its because most actual voice actors are actual trained actors, while 'twitter VAs' are just internet goblins that think they can act.

Hopefully the AI can make the, frankly horrendous, VO work in mods redundant. Why get a tranny to mimic dagoth ur when you have dagoth ur?
But if they do that how can Kikipus or whatever the SDA VA's name is get any work? If you download a few NPC mods it seems like she voices half of them. It's getting as bad as the Zora Fair-Child and Sofia VAs a few years ago.

what really grinds my gears about mod VAs are the "Whisper Shouting" where a character is supposed to yell but they don't really yell since that would wake up mom... or their wife's boyfriend, it triggers my 'tism everytime I hear it.
Here's an example of what I mean 3:57 in case it doesn't load properly

I've rarely bothered with voiced mods, since I am that retard that reads the subtitles and skips the spoken dialogue (at least in TES), but from my experience the main problem is that their mics or audio balancing are usually shit, even within the same mod you get your ears crunched by someone recording on their phone while walking the dog with their friend managing to whisper while also talking at full volume. Also, after enough (too many) hours in Oblivion - any voice that isn't from the original cast just takes me out of the experience.
Truth be told - most of it probably would be forgiven if those shitlords would stop taking themselves so seriously. It's okay to be bad at voice acting, it's a mod, nobody is going to send a package filled with nothing but seventeen thousand printouts of goatsee because your 3 quest mod doesn't meet the AAA standard.

I have no issue with obviously amateur acting, some of the voices in 'Legacy of the Dragonborn' are pretty amateur (although some are actually quite good). The issue comes from people who think they are good at acting and overdo it all, it makes nothing they say natural. I would rather listen to someone speak normally but naturally than hear someone ham it up but really bad and unnaturally.

The case for the new Hogwash Legacy too. The npcs react to the situation in their voice, the player just... talks.

It's hard to really describe. I remember a girl making a voice-over for a TES:O community video at some bethesda con and it had that disgusting "trying so hard to sound magical" fluency to it.

One (out of many) of the annoying things about Skyrim modding community is how they shit talk Bethesda VA's and then praise the absolute barest minimal VA for their overly clunky follower waifu mods.

Oh my god, she sounds like one of the cat tail weeb girls who would LARP in the hallways between classes in high school. Always obnoxious enough to make a fool of themselves, but never confident enough to go all in with it.

This is why I think Remiel is the best custom voiced female follower because the mod author sounds like a normal young woman and she doesn't thirst for Dragonborn cock within a day of meeting them.

Remiel's nice just because she's a normal companion in a sea of elf waifu bait and furry shit (Inigo's a bro, he gets a pass). I have a soft spot for Vilja for that reason, she's probably the prototypical terrible voice acting Skyrim companion but at the same time she doesn't really have a boohoo tragic backstory like every companion nowadays.

I'm still in my first playthrough of Morrowind. I'm currently on the third trial in the main quest. The first time I went to Vivec City was truly something, just an amazing sight to see. I wasn't expecting this 2002 game to really capture me so much, but it really has. Traversing the area around red mountain though it still a pain. I wish mainland morrowind was in the game, but apparently the modding community has that covered. I wouldn't mess with mods like that though till my second playthrough. I don't see myself becoming one of those morrowind elitists that shit on oblivion and skyrim because IMO they are still good games.

EDIT: huh, idk writing w o w would turn it into an emoji

You should try Daggerfall next. Keep a notebook handy while playing to record all the info you get.

Anyone got suggestions for an all trophies build in Skyrim? Been wanting to make a character to get everything on - complete the Civil War, main quest for base game and DLCs, all Daedric Artifacts, all factions, all houses, both Werewolf and Vampire Lord fully upgraded, etc. - but I can never figure out a fun build for it. Thought about doing something Stormcloak-themed since that's the Civil War side I'm going to support, but I can' think of anything so far.

Was aiming for at least some kind of ranged option - because let's face it, nailing someone in the face from long range never gets old - but I have no idea what to grab weapon-or-armor-wise; looking for fun, mostly. Any suggestions?

The Forsworn Bow has a higher base power than the Imperial Bow (bows don't have a generic steel option like other weapons). Like the Imperial Bow it takes the Steel Smithing perk, so you can start improving it almost right away. The only thing is it can be difficult to take from a Forsworn at a low level. Try the gold mine up the road from Markarth.

If you're planning on a stealth archer build, I would suggest Shrouded armor. It has an armor rating bonus when you wear all four pieces, plus the hood fortifies archery. The only downside is that it doesn't have an improved smithing perk, and you need Arcane Smithing to be able to do anything with it in the first place.

Well, maybe not a full "stealth archer" build; already done several of those before, I was just looking for something new to give a try.

Maybe a full mage? Being a mage in Skytim is pretty miserable, but that just makes it more satisfying to pull off.

That does sound fun; I did run quite a bit with the Bound weaponry back when I first got the game, and I have been meaning to run a mage for some time. Doesn't quite fit with the Stormcloak design I had in mind originally... but to be fair, I was seriously considering running an Argonian anyway, so...
