So, 100% true to how real life sheboons are.Whenever I have to interact with those NPCs, I mute the volume. It's laconic, no emoting, meandering, and pretentious in tone. In short, absolute dogshit.

I usually tell by their name.I've spent a little time looking at the difference between VAs in Skyrim and Oblivion, only to realize that outside of Nords the races of Men have no unique voices. They've added significantly more VAs and voice types to the game probably due to criticism Oblivion got, but mixing so many voices between different races makes them less distinct. I started looking into it in the first place because I couldn't for the life of me remember what Redguards sounded like in Skyrim even though I played it recently. I've talked before about how they've toned down the racial dimorphism too much in Skyrim and how you can't really tell what race some characters are at a glance, especially if they have a midtone complexion, but I've never noticed how much the voices blurred together.
That's something you intuitively pick up on if you've played the previous games, but I wonder how familiar people who only ever played Skyrim are with the naming conventions of races that have less representation in the game. And while I don't care to do the research to prove it at the moment, I feel like Skyrim has more characters that only have a nondescript first name and no last name. While I'm complaining about lack of distinct characterization, I also miss how in Oblivion you could ask practically every NPC about themselves and they would tell you about their background and what they do. I should make a sloptube channel with all these idle thoughts I've been having about TES lately.I usually tell by their name.
Tertullius Brutus, Imperial.
Erik Volkmar, Nord.
Knobgobler Dumas, Breton.
They kept her voice because it was distinct to her race, while Orcs and Nords shared voice actors. Adding voices had nothing to do with performance. Why they kept her voice in and got rid of the OG male orcs and elves I have no idea.
Nords having a lack of surnames is consistent with Oblivion and Morrowind, Nords typically use acquired names rather than family names unless they're from a prominent family, so it makes sense Skyrim has less overall.I feel like Skyrim has more characters that only have a nondescript first name and no last names
OpenMW saves are forward compatibleIve been waiting to update OpenMW to the latest version and it will wipe all my guys Ive been playing for like 5 years
Did the honeymoon period end or is there still a large amount of coping retards still trying to tell others that the demaster is the definite way to play?Proving yet again that the classic oblivion is better than the remaster, Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul mod just got a new update that adds a dynamic levelled list system where areas near roads and cities are safer and has low level foes, but where stronger foes can invade safe areas because of killed legion soldiers and gates spawning.
When i first played Skyrim i always mixed up Imperials with Bretons, for example i always believed that Belethor was an Imperial and Aventus Avenichi was breton, i only realized the distinction after doing a few forsworn misions that all of Breton names have some "th/ch" sounds like Cosnach, Madanach and Ainethach.but I wonder how familiar people who only ever played Skyrim are with the naming conventions of races that have less representation in the game.
Alternatively, lean into the druidic aspect. I get that TES druids aren't skinchangers (I think?) but adding the option for something like minor scales, fur, or even vine crap on the neck, back, or forearms in the character creator could at least offer some variety. They should make Bretons more interesting looking, for a race that are supposed to be mutts of elves they dont look anything like them, i think giving them the forehead protuberances elves have would go a long way to make them look distinctive and interesting (or just good old elf ears).
Received two big patches full of bugfixes and optimization thus far, more are on the way. Unlike Skyrim or F4, they don't break mods, which is a massive boon. Personally I'm holding off on starting a new playthrough until I get a beefier PC.How is the Oblivion Remaster at this point? I'm going to try and pick it up sometime in the future; any suggestions?
Everyone better download/backup the latest patch. I wouldn't put it past Arthmoor to get assmad and pull it from download sites.Fredrik Knudsen released a video about the unofficial skyrim patch
