The End of Funimation - Cucked to Death by Crunchyroll

I like how if you recently just paid for a year of funimation sony is essentially stealing your money. Ok ill pirate now I guess lol fuck you
Funi did that before anyway lol. They had a whole thing for looting your money even after you unsubscribed.

Edit: I had friends from my old Twitter days when there were literal pics about how they were practically getting their money stolen from their bank accounts into Funi's pockets.

If you email support

"If you have an annual Funimation Subscription, don’t worry you won’t miss out. We can add any time you have left on that subscription to your new or existing Crunchyroll account.

Please provide both your current Funimation account email address and your current Crunchyroll account email address and we’ll get you taken care of.

If you have not created your Crunchyroll account yet, please do that here before replying, otherwise, we won’t be able to assist you."

What sloppy mess.

It's depressing things had to go this way but that's what happens when you let SJWs infest your company, they're not interested in creating things, only kicking out the people they don't want.
I see nothing depressing about this. Funi's had this coming for a long time and are far from the company they used to be. Only shame is that it didn't happen sooner or that they didn't get worse.

Reminder Crunchyroll was a piracy site originally.

lmao
Good times.
I remember that they wouldn't even credit some of the sub groups that did that shit. They'd just take it and upload it on their website. Still piracy was different back then, especially foe anime since no one was streaming titles and your best bet was Cartoon Network dubbing your show. Man I'm old
Does this mean fags like Sabat and his circlejerks getting fired, or are they just changing a logo on their twatter and calling it a day?
Nah, talent will more then likely stay. It just means some admin, tech support, translators, and writers will be let got. I've been through a merger before and it fun watching people think their job is secure get replaced by somebody from a new company.
Sony?! I'd say it's a matter of time before The Mouse nabs them.
Doubt. Sony owns several music rights as well as their own electronic brands.

Sony is woke but whereas the funi fags are true believers Sony just does it because they think its a net positive. When shit turns against wokeness expect Sony to fire their most vocal people as they're in the business of making money.

I don't know abut that. My uncle can do a fantastic Vegeta impression and he's not even trying to be a voice actor.
Monica is the what-th Bulma again? The 5th? I don't remember anymore.

If I were Sony, I would look for any way to add "social media conduct" rules as part of the contract for voice actors right alongside non disclosure agreements, and then firing/not rehiring anyone who couldn't deal with it. Kind of like how Japanese pop stars have to be careful not to damage the brand but without the "don't seen date anyone", "no changing your hairstyle" and "don't gain weight" kind of things.
Literally just don't run social media accounts with your name and face on it representing our brand and going to anime conventions, and then also use it to engage in slapfights, incendiary gossip, degenerate behavior, and politics. That's it.

There's plenty of fish in the sea who want to be voice actors, have some level of talent, and who would likely be willing to agree to those terms.

If the funimation voice clique is going to be fired, I'd expect it to be a slow splintering process meant to minimize drama and attention.

It always comes back to CWC. In all the hilarity of Funimation dying of SJW AIDS, this is their response to the fans on digital copies of past works. By quoting CWC's, "I'M WORKING ON IT!"

CWC really did it. He met Monica Rial back then, HIV-positively infected her, and allowed the crazy that festered inside of her to slowly rot the rest of the company into what it is today. Truly a prophetic time we live in folks.

Do you like….actually believe this? Monica is still going to get work, nothing is gonna happen to the studio in Texas, crunchyroll outsources like everything, they aren’t going to close down one of the biggest dubbing studios that they actually own for no reason. that’s why a lot of the funimation staff have come out and said they’ve already been working for crunchyroll anime. theres been way more La and Texas crossover in terms of Voice acting since the purchase and covid happened making remote recording a bigger priority

the CEO of funimation is now the CEO of crunchyroll from what I’m understanding, im not sure what this narrative is but its pretty nonsensical, they just went with the bigger global name and streaming platform name to use. as long as Sony see dubs as worth doing there’s next to zero chance anything is going to happen to the Texas studio and it’s talent.
They have already said the studio is basically going to stay the same, but maybe some the higher-ups are going to be future endeavored.
And, no, the CEO of Funimation is not going to be the head of this thing.
It will be the CEO of Crunchyroll. Granted, he did work for Funimation before being hired to be the CEO of Crunchyroll, but that was before Sony bought Crunchyroll.

Which is why I said I don’t get why people are acting like this is some massive win against the people at funimation they hate, they just merged into an even bigger company at the cost of the old name. If anything this guarantees more work for the people they hate since it means less direct competition for licensing lol. Two comments up is someone talking about funimation dying when it’s literally just not what’s happening

And as for the CEO thing I was just working with this timeline, it seems like he was working higher up at funimation while crunchyroll got bought, and is now being described as the CEO of crunchyroll in the press release from yesterday no?

I just want to add this as a reminder

Sony is so fucking big that most of the companies they own are almost in name only.

It's why Sony Music Japan co-owned Funimation along side Sony Pictures Television, which is part of Sony America, which is on a completely different side of the company.

In fact, Sony has been known to sue its sister corporations on multiple occasions, and during the SOPA and PIPA shit 11 years ago, PlayStation and their general electronic stuff were against it, Music, Television and their Japanese Music division were for it. Even Columbia Records and Columbia Pictures only thing in common is that Sony owns both of them. They're completely different entities otherwise.
