The End of Funimation - Cucked to Death by Crunchyroll

please tell me sony is going to fire all of the funimation staff members including the staff that hires the english voice actors.

One of the reasons I dont watch the funimation english dubs is that they reuse the same voice actors for every anime.
JYB is everywhere so I can't hear any of his characters as anything other than Lelouch

If you think Funi was bad about that you must not remember ADV, who would literally use the exact same stable of actors for every single thing (I mean yeah, they did a good job, but it was funny how you could instantly recognize an ADV dub)

I remember those cheap 'magazines' interviewing ADV voice actresses...now I'm sad. *sigh*

ADV filled the screen with Pop Up Notices in their later years explaining jokes because they gave them literal translations. And I mean these things filled the whole screen.

Comedy is about delivery and timing and they fucked up both.

I think that regardless of how you feel about Funi or CR, you have to agree that a larger media conglomerate in the anime localization industry is not a good thing because the bigger these companies get, the more influence they have on anime in Japan. We've already seen Crunchyroll funding adaptations of Western comics, Korean manhwa, and entirely Western-animated projects and calling them "anime". Gaijin companies like CR getting their filthy little hands into anime production, will, if not stopped, end up bringing it down to a level where it's no different from Hollywood.
It is worrying, it could be Woke's inroad to anime, but all it would take is a few bombs before the Japanese went "well, that doesn't work" and stopped doing it, because the main creative forces behind anime are still Japanese and Japan isn't as retarded as the US where people will run something into the ground out of spite ala Marvel Comics.

And really, what on Earth would Woke anime even look like? You want more black characters? Fine, but the guys would still look cool and the girls would still look sexy, it's inherently baked into anime as an aesthetic design that characters have to look cool, there's no way you could ugly them up like western comics, then it would no longer be anime.

That also applies to the storytelling tropes of anime, again, it's not something you could brute force Woke into, how many animes are about characters bettering themselves and training to grow stronger and stronger, how do you marry to that to the mindset of people that give up and let themselves get as fat or ugly as they want to and celebrate mediocrity? It's pure oil and water.

My point is, in order to make anime Woke you would have to literally remove every single that makes anyone care about anime in the first place, even more so than other mediums that go Woke, so it'd be an even bigger way to burn money to the point that I doubt even Sony would want to do it.

I've got to meet Tiffany Grant twice at cons, I made her "say the line" lol ("What are you, stupid?") and I've talked with Mandy Clark online a few times.

yeah, those allegations were total crap lol
Imagine producing false allegations in a court against a gay pants-wearing, Italian-American man claiming he could possibly sprout tentacles from his back, transform into some fujo-hentai-fantasy-rape-tentacle-snake-creature thing, or knock up women with lazor space-alien seeding eyes just by staring at them from over 9000 yards in front of a bunch of normies as the "best proof" they got against him.

Funny. Now that you mention it, in the old days of IRC, fansubs did almost the same thing, if not longer than ADV, explaining jokes, terminology or whatever for anyone who didn't understand what was going on. Unlike ADV, they stopped after a few episodes of whatever they subbed and included them in footnotes on some sites sprawled across the interbutts of live journal or blogspot whatever. As obnoxious as some fansub sites were that sperged hard, they did far better when it came to not filling a whole damn screen with walls of text. They beat ADV there in that department. ADV tried at the very least. There was a joke back in the day spergy fansub sites grouped together and told ADV to release their pop up style subs as a way to not tread on their turf when it came to quality subbing. Pretty funny when anyone thinks about it.

We can definitely demonstrate that Rial's accusations were false-- the town of the hotel wherein she was supposedly assaulted by Vic didn't report any seismic activity, even though she claimed (in her second account of the incident) that she was thrown on the bed.

See Steven Universe, my little pony or High Guardian Spice, that's what they ultimately want anime to be, just subversive pastel rich shit smears that ape dumb/weird shit like Sailor Moon or Revolutionary Girl Utena. In other words, they ultimately only want a show that appeals only to themselves, and expect the rest of the industry to shift around their tastes.

I wish i still had my Pani Poni Dash DVD with subs that did exactly that.

I don't know, I lost touch with her sadly, she simply commented on a site I also commented on, I never had her email or anything.

I'm well aware of shows like that, but that's my point, it's clearly cartoons with some anime inspiration, no one's going to confuse Steven Universe for the real McCoy, how do you make "actual" anime like that? Attractiveness is baked into the entire artform.

I mean there's rare exceptions in the world of anime and manga (there's always going to be exceptions) but for the most part anime style art is somehting inherently drawn to be appealing to look at.

Yeah, my Excel Saga dvds were like that too...they switched to putting these notes in booklets later on.

I still have mine I should probably take screen captures.

The show isn't that well known so people don't know just how literal literalism was literally taken literally.

Guess they gone the AnimEigo route instead of the real old school fansubbers put the notes and wall of text after the episode end credits.

hand scrawled photocopied notes that they put into the VHS copy using ancient editor programs.
