The End of Funimation - Cucked to Death by Crunchyroll

This thread doesn't have enough salt, so here's one post I found by some anime forum lifer that has probably been posting on different anime message boards for 20 years. Imagine being this invested in the brand name of a home video label that a corporate restructuring a lot of people saw coming is some huge paradigm shift that has turned your world upside down. LOL

To follow up on this, Funimation's YouTube channel has not been updated in 3 weeks:
Curiously, Crunchyroll's hasn't been updated in 2 months:
Yet, these two channels are regularly updated:
UPDATE:
Almost 24 hours later, Funimation's YouTube channel was rebranded as "Crunchyroll Dubs."
Funimation is dead!

To give everyone an idea of what Funimation used to be like back in the 2000s, here's two videos featuring Sonny Strait at Anime North 2008 explaining what the company was like when it first dubbed Dragon Ball Z and what lead to them to becoming the company that people liked so much for most of the decade:

Warning: The 2nd video starts with loud fangirl shrieking.

When that meeting happened where some squinty-eyed Sony execs decided how to move on with anime industry and they weight all pros and cons of CR and Funimation. Such as outstanding debts, potentiall future litigation, brand damage or pending lawsuits. In that moment sunbeam shined on one particual italian-american gay pant looking VA. Its something I just want to believe.

INB4 Fuckimation hacks claim "2 nukes wasn't enough" and say "dur not racist" LMFAO.

If you guys don't mind me beating this horse, I've another nail in the coffin to report.
So on Right Stuf, if you try to search for Funimation products now, all you'll see is just imperfect/damaged goods, everything else is now under the Funimation/Crunchyroll tag.

Man, I honestly never thought Funimation would go down before Sentai. I thought to myself before all of this: Whelp, I'd better get the Sentai titles I really want before they go belly up, never thought itd be the other way around.

But don't take that to mean I feel bad for Funimation, cause I don't. Right after Viz, they're my most hated distributor.
From thier arrogance, to thier incompetence to the whole kick vic shit, they've more than earned this indignity of an ending.

As others have stated: It couldn't have happened to a nicer company. 🖕

I don't feel bad for the company at all after what happened to Vic. Every chance they had to fix the problems that became apparent with the company in 2015 were never properly addressed at all. When one of their script writers inserted a reference to GamerGate in the Prison School dub and lashed out and ridiculed fans/customers who criticized him for it, the management did nothing but have the line replaced. In fact instead of any of them being held accountable the exact opposite happened:

This is why these voice actors didn't see anything wrong with going after Vic because they knew they wouldn't be held accountable in any way by the management. Funimation is a dead brand because the management was utterly incompetent that it was even obvious to Sony what had to be done.

Seeing all this unfold in the past 4 or so years is like a kid watching a very violent divorce occur.
I grew up with the OG Dragon Ball dub and the other shows Funimation produced dubs for such as Yu Yu Hakusho. While the DBZ dub aged horribly compared to DragonBall dub, I still appreciate the Funimation of the 2000's, plus their Kai dub was exquisite in 2009-2011. How things went so horribly wrong. Twitter was a mistake.
good video btw

It's hard to believe there was a time when Funimation was so respected that they gave out tours of their studio to fans back in 2008. This is the building they were at in Flower Mound, Texas for much of the late 2000s/the entirety of the 2010s. Judging by the empty look of the photos they were still in the process of moving from the bank building they were in prior to that.

And now that building is an empty shell like the former Packard plant in Detroit soon to be demolished....

Do you think Sony will let these sjw sexpests give the worst possible woke subs ever, or do you think they’ll hire a tard wrangler to keep them in check?
