LANE COUNTY, Ore. — A suspect related to the Sweet Creek Fire in west Lane County has been arrested, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.
LCSO and Oregon State Police detectives responded to the fire on August 30 and worked in collaboration to make a number of contacts and interview several individuals during the investigation.
Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, 44-year-old Elias Newton Pendergrass of Mapleton was arrested for Arson in the first degree in connection with the Sweet Creek Fire, authorities said.
LCSO said the case is being forwarded to the Lane County District Attorney's Office for review.

"Thank you to the community members who called in and provided investigators with information and tips regarding the origin of the fires, which have now burned over 500 acres," the sheriff's office said.

Most of us here in NorCal tend to be either right or leans-right economically and national security-wize. Even Chico (largest city in Norcal north of sacramento) is becoming more conservative regarding the twisting of the riot situation by large media conglomerates, and our homeless crisis (not refugees, just druggies, panhandlers, and the homeless other counties/states ship here). And I expect newsoms approval ratings to drop hard here (wasn't high to begin with) over the climate change stuff. Regardless of how much human polution can do, it's near a non-factor here. CA is on fire because of southern lefties lack of any farsightedness or depth of thinking regarding how we manage our forests. California is meant to have small spot fires to clear underbrush and allow certain specimen of trees to release seeds. When there are no natural breaks from controlled burns and logging (Paradise CA was a conservative logging community till it became prohibitively expensive due to state policies), nature will take whats her's all at once. And yeah, California outside of the bay area/silicone valley is mostly republican or proper libertarians.
I still have family in NorCal. This is all very distressing. Coming after the COVID insanity, riots and election sperging I don't think I can take anymore bad news.

Ok this is the end of the backlog that was in my Discord. I don't have sources for most of this stuff so I can't really archive it. A lot of it is boomer hearsay on Twitter that popped up over the week, obviously claims of suspicious vehicles should be discarded unless they actually yank the people out and identify them. There is a clear picture that some form of arson campaign is being run on top of the usual wild fire season, is it Antifa? Some descriptions fit the bill and some fit the usual coterie of deranged individuals. I'm missing the article/footage from the guy who set the median on fire and filmed his own arrest by the State Troopers and the news articles for some woman doing something similar. I've seen it pop up but I don't have time at the moment to fetch them.

I figure this should prime the thread since it was more discussion than actual video and image content.

Thanks a lot for this, it's good to get this kind of information early on in the thread. I feel it's safe to say Antifa has at least some level of involvement in this, or at least, the more deranged members who have been rioting for so long- feels like a natural escalation to me, though of course, there are definitely environmental factors in play too. That's the thing with bushfires, they obfuscate any underlying causes for obvious reasons. Regardless, I agree with what others have said about anyone celebrating this- I'm not a fan of the mindset that you get what you deserve because you live in a blue area, in general. I agree that the people who vote for anyone with a D next to their name reap what they sow, but it's ridiculous to blame anyone else living there and cheer for their deaths (though I don't see much of that in this thread, anyway). As a minor PL- living in Australia, even if you weren't near any hotspots, the worst part was the air. For about a month, maybe more, even staying out for 10 minutes felt suffocating. Hope that this doesn't get as bad.

So now its on fire literally too? and i thought metaphorical was bad.

It's pretty bad, Oregon has the worst air quality on earth at the moment. I remember after getting some buddies out of paradise during the Camp Fire that wiped out Paradise CA and a chunk of Magalia (we got out pretty early god bless, before there were the twisters of flames and the total darkness from smoke), we had similar smoke in Chico to what the whole state is seeing now. A sickly yellow-orange haze with dirt and caustic ash coming down like snow from a black-gray cloud all overhead. But we were lucky then, since it rained a day or two after (Paradise was destroyed Nov. 8, so it was in season), which helped purge the flames and get that acid and lye out of the air. But there is no rain for this round of megafires for some time, so our air will fluctuate between soot and smoke that makes areas look like Silent Hill and this:

There is a loot of boomer level shit in the facebook post.

"I totally cough this guy dressed in black with a photo Hillary on his chest, a antifa logo, gas mask and was screaming aluha acbaro as he used his flame thrower on the forest".

I bet that it is a combination. Is there some antifa jerkhole who is acting op, possibly. How ever i am more inclined to believe that this is looters and junkies.

Call me crazy, but I know there were a LOT of people, even after he died, who were still members of "The Family,"

I grew up near where Manson camped out with his people and I even had the misfortune of working with one of them. Dude was a fucking creep, but with all that's going on, it sounds a hell of a lot like Manson's Helter Skelter, so I wonder if these fucking arsonists are just members of the "Family," bringing further "Predictions," of Manson to life.

Rate me autistic but I doubt these people are doing it to "Own the orange man," at least not in a classic way.

Bad news buddy Manson was right.

So it's war then?
I say we wait until we get actual confirmation that this is Antifa's doing anything stupid.

This very well might be their doing, but I think there's an even higher chance of this just being scumbags taking advantage of the situation for their own personal gain, and amusement, and not for any political sort.

I wonder if the huge amount of arson reports is because people are more on edge than usual this year, especially the locals in the rural areas pissed at the idiots from the big cities. And once the rumors started, people started really paying attention to arson reports which normally gets buried in the back page of the local news (unless it's something really big/unusual). There was the one Antifa guy arrested in Washington, but most of it seems to be the usual tweakers, hobos, and other scum who through their criminal negligence/deliberate action start fires. But maybe it's going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy when some Antifa loon reads how Antifa is starting forest fires to kill all the Trump supporters in the countryside, has a nice laugh, and goes out and actually starts some fires.
