Considering he is only playable in the former... Though there it's more of the usual "pull a switcheroo on a dead character with a meat puppet that looks like it so it won't change the timeline". Though technically it's optional.

Man, all I wanted was a graphical update like that original PS3 demo for FF7. I didn't sign up for the whole re-imagine the entire game thing. I'm having fun with the remake yeah but at the end of the day I'd have been happy with less.

As an aside, I have not enjoyed any of the FF7 adjacent stuff, it all looked like crap. I still regret buying Advent Children when it came out.

Squeenix will never ever give a piss about a FF7 remaster. They're too busy focusing on yearly garbage and/or selling NFTs in order for the company to stay afloat. They're focusing on tumbling down than to worry about a faithful remaster.

FF6 has the advantage that it has a beginning and end. Thats it.
No more shitty sequels ala After Years or milking content like with FF7's...anything after it.

Shinra is not actually supposed to be an ancestor of President Shinra from FF7. One of the FF10 writers found it amusing that they tried to craft a new world and ended up with something akin to 7, particularly the idea of a Lifestream. The Shinra character was added as a reference, just as Biggs and Wedge are a reference. He confided this to Ultimania.

10-2 expanded on this with mentions of him and Rin trying to use the Farplane as an energy source and looking into space travel, but while it's a fun theory, there's no actual evidence they made it out of Spira. Not to mention that in 7 they have a space program and failed rocket, implying they never even achieved space travel until the huge materia launch, so how would Shinra's descendents reach this new planet and then become space amateurs?

A lot of people went batshit over this and the devs went along with the joke. A fun gag which will fuel many 10 minute long "theory" channels on YouTube.

tl;dr He's just a kid. Imagine if they pulled Sin into the remake, tho.
