the problem is that there is also a game beloved from PS1 days that got a remake that, may have detractors, naysayers, complete raging at the remake, but still managed to turn out very close to the original game.I don't see why people have a stick up their ass about FF7 Remake. This was never going to be better than the original, but it does provide a different experience, one that's more modernized for better or for worse. I'm glad they're making changes to the story, characters and gameplay, otherwise why bother? We're only up to what, Aerith being killed in the Remake? If I want to experience the story, I can just fire up the original game and get the real deal right now. It's less about the remake being true to the original and more about what they're going to do with the rest of the story going forward. The more action based gameplay is also, in my opinion, better than the turn based one, although your mileage may vary.

The RE2 remake have done a lot of changes, like changes to the character back stories, character themselves, how the story played out, missing sections, changed enemies, changed how Mr X works, missing character zapping system, heck some people still complains to this day that RE games should only be in fixed camera. yet in the end, there is no huge changes made that you can't call it RE2 anymore.
what both FF7 Remake games have done so far is basically add superficial stuff, filler and at the same time destroyed the message of the original game and in the only only superficially following the original game's plot.
They put Sephiroth in Remake because they wanted to put him in the promotional materials despite him not showing up in midgar because they want him in the promotional materials. They could emphasize how dreary and dystopian the slums in Midgar, how seedy really is the wall market district, but instead they made it a gay faggot carnival. they made the characters who died, survive and in the process basically erase the gravity of situation and conviction of the characters. there are so many small niggling changes, but combined, the FF7 remake games basically is a putrid modern SE game skinwalking as FF7
