The Final Fantasy Thread

So from what I can gather, we can officially blame Nomura for completely fucking up the story and deciding to potentially make FFVIIR sort of a sequel/remake/spin-off/reboot. Nomura-san, get off of the drugs and let go of VsXIII, you borderline amateur. Apparently there was some good stuff in terms of fleshing out certain aspects, which saves him from being a complete amateur.

That "fleshing out" is really just fan fic BS I've been reading online for years. So, still amateur.

LOL reading gamefaqs discussion on this. I forgot how retarded most people are there.

Also, the amount of shilling for Square Enix. I'll never understand it. It's like they don't realize, you can criticize Square Enix and it's marketing....and still enjoy the game itself. I mean, SE is the same company that pretty much told Platinum Games to fuck off and pack up and not fix the Nier Automata PC release just a couple years ago, yet these dorks think SE is above shady marketing lol

Most GameFAQs users are two weeks away from getting their first pubes. They have no perspective and grew up with shady marketing and free to play scams. The last time they got a game that was a complete package with solid fundamentals was when they were a sperm in their daddy's ballsack. And even that may be a stretch.

Finally beat Remake. Here are a few random thoughts:

The good:
-The characters all have distinct and well-written personalities. Its fun watching them interact with each other.
-The music in this game is great. I cracked up laughing the first time the gangsta rap version of the chocobo theme came on.
-The graphics are beautiful. As I said before, Wall Market is one of the most beautiful environments in any game, period.
-The battle system is fun for the most part. Tifa is super fun to play. Cloud is good. Barret is okay. Aeris makes me want to kill myself.
-90% of the story is pretty solid, straightforward and enjoyable. Characters don't do random dumb shit, but rather all have good motivations for doing what they do.
-I'm glad they did away with the whispers this game so we can have a story unencumbered by such a heavy handed plot device moving forward.

The bad:
-RP walking is a blight on this game. JUST LET ME RUN!
-I hate the chapter set-up because it creates a lot of points of no return. I'm hoping the second game is more open-world because it sucks having to take a three hour break in the middle of the story to complete a bunch of side quests.
-Due to being set in Midgar, the visual language of the game lacks variety. Everything is dark, green and grimy.
-They don't adequately explain who Sephiroth is or why the characters want to stop him.
-They don't adequately explain what the whispers were or Sephiroth's involvement with them.
-You never actually see the characters leave Midgar. They're on the road, there's a fight and *boom* they're all on the ground outside Midgar. Really robbed us of a powerful scene, especially given Aeris's hesitation to leave Midgar.

The ugly:
-The Angel of Slums "reveal" comes about 12 hours and 4 sidequests too late.
-Some achievements can only be earned by replaying long segments of the game and altering your final save state. Because we don't know if we'll be able to carry over our saves to the next game, I'm hesitant to start fucking with shit willy nilly.

Final Rating: 8/10

Have you done hard mode? I'm hearing that you need very specific builds but you can skip the motorbike sections.

Hard difficulty is actually hard holy shit.

You can get easily crushed in the first chapter right out of the gate.
Not the greatest at games but I've found hard pretty easy only a few more deaths than I had in normal, already on chapter 16. Maybe it's because I always use pray to save mp as much as I can.

Yup. These are likely the same people that thought Mass Effect 2 was good for doing the same thing.

"So deep and riveting. What does it mean."

It means the writers are qualified to be games journalists.
It's exactly what bad mystery box writing is, or the kind of writing we saw after Season 5 of Game of Thrones. Twists for their own sake. And then double twists to further trick the audience.

SMH...thanks for that grim realization there. Freaking mystery boxes in a final fantasy, never mind, in a remake of one of the most popular installments. What has happened to storytelling these days?

How high are your levels? Also was your first playthrough on easy?

Because I think I may be too low for a few things, I'm stuck at the scorpion.
