The Final Fantasy Thread

Man, that just makes me more anxious for the VII Remake, because now that I know what all happens in the original, I can't wait to see the new spin on those older events. Call me insane, but the fact that it is going in a different direction has me intrigued.
Some people enjoy the idea of slamming their dick in a desk drawer until they actually do it.

The combat in Remake is fine. There isn't much to complain about. The plot and scenario design are obscenely bad though. Offensively bad if, like many people you were expecting a remake like Square insisted for the better part of a decade. Here is a video that sums it all up very well. It gets posted here a lot.

I like the Remake. I've said it before and I say this as someone relatively new to the FF7 fandom. For me, it hits all the right notes and I'm genuinely excited to see where they go with it. If it's goofy and awful, fuck it. Don't give a shit. The original already exists and they can't take that from me. I just want to see Cloud and Seph fight (or fuck I mean there's a reason why ladies like this series)

I guess that makes me a consoomer or whatever. I dunno. It was a good starting off point for my love for the series. Does it have problems? Of course. Is the plot nonsensical? Sure. But I had fun and had pretty shit to look at for twenty hours. It's a remake that at least isn't made with character-ruining malice like a lot are these days. So that's enough for me.

Square just literally delayed all their games including Dragon Quest 10, it might be corona related, but 16 has been pushed back to possibly holidays of next year because it's now TBA with a mid year announcement around June.

Dragon Quest 10 has been pushed to Summer of 2022 and that shit was nearly done.

Just as well tbh, no point in rushing the game when it's exclusive to the most elusive current console, and a console that will stay elusive until the chip shortage ends, which currently has no end in sight

Or, the TL;DR version: "ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN PLOT, SQUENIX!" But noo... we get time jannies and DESTINY and a ridiculous boss fight against the supreme time janny followed by Sephiroth, thus removing all tension for the next games... if there are any.

"And then Sephiroth throws the ShinRa building at you."

For most of FFVII remake, the writing is fine other than the retarded cloaked fags and Sephiroth appearing way too much. (Talk about subtlety). It gets really bad though in the final chapter. Felt like kingdom hearts but it’s FFVII.

How can it ruin the tension when all their games have ended with a reality breaking balls to the wall fight.

How many times has Kingdom hearts used Ultra Mega Super Darkness as the ultimate mega bad who has ever badded, only for the next game to reveal there was yet a super mega double ultra bad behind that bad?

Besides the DLC ending shows that Midgar is now normal and the whole Sephiroth fight was a delusion made by the time jannies. A bad acid trip is not the end of the world.

Thoughts on it? What other entries in the FF series are good? I heard IV, VI, IX, and X are also well liked. For that matter, should I even bother with checking out the infamous Compilation Of Final Fantasy VII?
I'm weird in the fact that I think XII is one of the best ones.

One of the few games where the main villain was well-designed and I could see where he was coming from. If it was an SMT game you'd probably join him.

And to no one's surprise : https://boundingintocomics.com/2021...delayed-by-almost-six-months-due-to-covid-19/

Expect the same excuses for other titles from them.

How do you ruin tension by building up to a ridiculous fight at the end? Isn't that pretty much the point of a climax at least in some kind of action adventure? The problem here is this is the first installment and you've already done this. What are you going to do next time? The same thing? Why should I feel any danger for the characters fighting anything else other than say Sephiroth or Jenova (maybe the Weapons too)? Oh boy will I be in the edge of my seat when Barret faces down Dyne assuming he'll even be in the next installment.

The bosses to the Post game and DLC are already hard, in fact they're harder than what the original game had for post-game or optional content.

Stuff like Pride and Joy is harder than any of the Weapon fights in the original game. They're going to build up to real massive encounters. It's going to be the overall presentation of the fights, we've already had smaller enemies get roided up to be main bosses and they're way more memorable than their originals.

Going BUT THE TENSION makes no sense, because the tension will be from the fights themselves and the mechanics, they've already done it with Dragon Quest 11 and have a new bad guy each chapter.

The best thing about the FF9 HD release is that its way, way easier to please all the nobles at the start.

Also FF7 HD, FF8 HD, and FF9 HD have really great mods on pc. Now that I have a retro setup I normally prefer my psx jrpgs on my CRT but its harder for me to decide when it comes to those three games over which I prefer.

Legend of Mana remaster is ok if just for the fact that the menus aren't mistranslated. With a crt reshade the sprites don't clash as badly with the prerendered backdrops either.

You can talk Remake Jessie all along but i can't simply understand why the pseudo-Kingdom Hearts enemies and that time ending arc before Seph final fight.
Something was wrong at the start and i'm not gonna like it.
At least FF6 Pixel Remaster is looking good. Time to see finally Leo's death in all glorious HD
