The Final Fantasy Thread

Was excited to see the return of lady-dragoon in the trailer.

In case someone hadn't seen this already, here are some recentish trailers of FFXV, as well as a playtrough of the demo @Coster has already played:

So far I was rather indifferent towards this installment, but after watching these I'm actually intrigued.

Loving Final Fantasy XV even if Prompto won't shut the fuck up, I can forgive him because he whistles the victory theme when he does a tech in battle AND loves Chocobos as much as me.

I purposefully haven't watched any trailers or done any sort of research, so my knowledge of 15 is completely blank; at first this was because I was largely indifferent to it, but as of now I'd prefer to go in blind if I do plan on getting it. Nice to hear positive feedback regardless.

Does anyone else still play Crystal Chronicles (GCN)? I'm still on my first playthrough.

For those unaware, the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game, which has been out for a few years in Japan, has finally come to US shores, I picked up a bunch of packs.
Are they still slapping Lightning on all the boxes and pack wrapping?

Yep, but a majority of the set's cards are generic classes from Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy Tactics. So far I've gotten at least 1 card of each game's main hero except XII

Okay, now for an actually good question, is the game any fun? I've been (sort of) looking for a new card game to play other than MtG, but I don't really know much about this game.

Late as fuck and no, but I still like it.

It helps yo make multiple characters and have their parents have different jobs so you've early access to lots of shops.

It's annoying keeping them all up stat-wise.

How the fuck did I miss this line?
son-of-a-submariner-e.png

I'm playing the PS1 version, and I'm only 11 hours in so far. I'm truly shocked that this didn't stay in my memory for more than a few minutes after I read it. I didn't even remember the line about Shadow "slitting his momma's throat for a nickel" until after I read about it online. What the hell is wrong with me?

Both lines were replaced in the GBA and later translations, the latter in particular was changed to the more accurate "He'd even kill his best friend for the right price", which is meant as ironic foreshadowing for his backstory you can find out from sleeping at various inns.

They also reimplemented Kaiser Dragon after it was cut for the GBA and iOS versions. Which was meant to be in the game as a penultimate boss for defeating all of the other dragon bosses in the World of Ruin.

They did more than that, they even gave him a unique sprite instead of being a recolor of one of the many dragon sprites they had in that game.

For those unaware, the GBA version added the following:
-A cleaner, more accurate translation
-A music box and bestiary are accessible via the main menu.
-4 New Espers, 3 of which you can get during the main campaign and one during the post-game
-3 new Spells which can be obtained from said new Espers
-2 Post-game dungeons with super-bosses at the end
-New ultimate equipment for everyone, in particular exclusive weapons for all of the characters except Gau and Umaro, who get a Helmet and Relic respectively instead.
