The biggest problem with III's last dungeon is how fucking long it is. Not only do you have to climb up to fight Xande, which is already the length of a normal dungeon prior to that point, but then you have to go through the world of darkness and fight four more bosses that will absolutely wreck your shit if you're even slightly underleveled before you can even fight the Cloud of Darkness, who's even harder than all of them.Final Fantasy 3 had a fucking awful last dungeon with a random encounter happening every single step.
Even Sakaguchi hated it and wished he could have done it differently.Final Fantasy 3 had a fucking awful last dungeon with a random encounter happening every single step.
To beat it, I used an action replay with the code to turn off random encounters and it still took me 40 minutes.
Do you not have money any other day of the week? Also, when you get paid on Friday, when do you you top up your e-payment method?I never understand why games (or anything else for that matter) get released any day other than Friday, at least in the UK. Friday is pay day for a lot of people here who get paid weekly, who tend to be young and therefore the target market. There's probably some weird reason, but still.
Pay day is the best day for impulse purchasing. You know what your budget for the week ahead is so you know you can get away with spending on other stuff. As for epayment, generally in the UK people pay online using debit accounts which your wages go directly into so there is no 'topping up' required.Do you not have money any other day of the week? (I do agree Friday releases are a good idea, because of impulse purchases. I will instabuy a full-price game I'm going to play right now. I won't buy one I may or may not have time to play five days from now.)
Okay. I played ff1/2 back in the day but never got back into the series after it moved off Nintendo. (Despite having sony consoles i just never picked it back up ) I've been wanting to get into the series lately but I'm a bit overwhelmed with it. Any advice on what game to start at/which to skip/core titles etc? Where do the movies fit in? Do I have to play Kingdom Hearts too?
I've played a translated rom of the original Japanese release of FF4 and thought the difficulty was OK. But when I played the DS remake I got brick walled by a difficulty spike and quit. Been meaning to go back to that sometime. Those character models are an eyesore though.6 is the best 2d Final Fantasy, some people say 4 but it's entirely dependent on which version of 4 you're playing. Because there are 4 different versions of Final Fantasy 4. Easy Type(which was never released in America), Hard Type(which was released as part of Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PS1 along with Chrono Trigger), USA(which is the North American SNES release and was different from the Japanese one) and the Complete Edition which has DLC shit added decades after the original release and it was a tedious post game.
Now I've played through all 4 versions of 4 and I never really cared for them because outside of Easy type they're all a pain in the ass in their own way. They have massive massive shifts in difficulty spikes where you need to spend a ton of time grinding and there's no real efficient way to do so because the surrounding enemies don't give enough EXP so to get somewhere to grind you gotta backtrack.
If you want a solid string of hits go for 7,8,9, 10, and 10-2. Some people hate 8 but I don't, it's an interesting enough game and you can fucking break the combat system to pieces early on by junctioning 99 Ultima to attack and just fucking decimating everything because an early game enemy's card can be converted into ultima spells. Triple Triad from 8 is also a very good minigame. But yeah Junction ultima to attack ASAP and that breaks whatever convoluted bullshit the battle system throws at you. And there will be bullshit, especially if you want to collect all the Guardian Forces, Bahamut's dungeon is a pain in the fucking ass to get through under normal conditions so being able to oneshot a load of shit helps. 8 has a very interesting world to explore and it certainly did the future world mixed with fantasy better than 13 did.

I love ff4 DS because it hates you and is not shy about letting you know it. Also the game doesn't explain shit, if you go in without researching how augments are gained you're gonna get raped.I've played a translated rom of the original Japanese release of FF4 and thought the difficulty was OK.
