the future of this site a.k.a kiwifarms (discuss) - alright, kiwifarms is now an onion site and becoming more and more unstable so let's discuss the future of this site!

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Would it be possible to host it rather than on servers but using a botnet to run it peer to peer?

For example you build a worm with a rootkit and spread it around which hosts the farms using packets of data from all infected computers (with no effects otherwise)

Completely invisible to the user of the computer due to a rootkit but impossible to ddos

I've hesitated to make this post because stay mad but the Farms is important to me, and imo, to a healthy society generally by exposing dangerous echo chambers so I don't want to see it relegated to tor.

There are many problems with not being on clearnet. The biggest is simply reach and reputation. Normies associate tor with drugs, cp, and crime in general. The Farms already struggles with image, so it makes it hard to peak normies against dangerous AGP behavior when you can't just send a clearnet link to a cow's thread. Related to only being on tor is how many people, even tech savvy people like myself, just don't feel like documenting cow bullshit because I have to launch a clunky Brave or Tor window in order to do so. Yea, I'm lazy, but so are a lot of people judging by how little new content there is on many of the threads.

The second biggest problem is performance and this ties into everything. It's just a poor user experience. Personally, I'm lucky if I get 1 image out of 10 to load, videos? Forget about it. I often find myself opening a non tor window from a linked external site just to see what someone is talking about.

There's other problems like the hassle of setting up tor on mobile and secondary devices so you can document cow behavior when you're not on your main workstation, the problem of sharing content easily with non tor users (screenshots are OK but not as good as a clearnet link) and the general issue I've had trying to view the farms consistently. There's been a few days where I simply, on every device, cannot seem to get past the anti-DDOS challenge. There's only so much troubleshooting I'm willing to do to shitpost about Anna.

And on a personal note I miss the sense of community that came with a clear net presence. Our world just feels smaller now, more contained, less expressive.

Null has proven he is one persistent mofo, so I remain hopeful of a clearnet return and remain patient. In the meantime I'll mostly be lurking. I do thank the people, especially in Stink Ditch, BP and Boogie's thread that continue to post the milk on a regular basis.

And I had to change node and complete the challenge again to post this. All the feels man.

You know, I know that splitter websites are gay as fuck and so on, but has their been any attempt at making a KF-esque website that isn't some 4chan-style forum or onion farms? I know that migrating between different forums is generally a bad idea, but I'm wondering if anyone else has attempted to hold up a forum akin to KF anywhere else.

The CWCki has a couple of forums attached to it, including a discord and subreddit.

Something like that is called FastFlux. It often utilizes either IoT devices based botnet(routers, and other "smart" electronics) and does port forward, or most commonly popular hosting provider trails, like Linode or DigitalOcean "welcome offers" for new people, you buy vcc's with $1 on it and pass their verification.

That said, you still depend on DNS(which can be sorta fastfluxed as well) and registar/registry/icann.
While on paper it would work for farms, its not possible to buy legally(this shit ain't whithat, its sold by criminals for criminals), and it would be difficult to handle Layer 7 attacks.

About the only thing about Tor I don't like is the fact that on mobile the only rating I can leave is thumbs up/like. :like:

Dunno if that's due to my crappy phone or the Android version installed or what. Interesting that Brave desktop has a Tor/Onion option but not mobile.

Also if there's a way to access the site on my (old but still functional) iPad I have yet to figure it out.
Edit: the VPN tor forced me to install slows down the IPad so much it is unusable. Forgot about that.

I had the same sticker problem with the android app "Tor Browser." I switched to using "Orbot" and using it to vpn my normal android chrome. Now I can give any stickers and the site loads much faster for me and I stay logged in.

It's better than nothing, but for now I'm sticking with the Tor site for security.

Opera's "VPN" proxy is good enough security without Tor, but I'm concerned about security on the mirror's end (per Null BTW).

The clearnet emergency front page was good because it fully explained the situation.

Tor is good but now that sneed.today is up I need to figure out the whole relative link business.
EDIT: Huh. Looks like you can only create relative links if make it on the .onion mirror of the site. For example, the link above will work on both .onion and clearnet mirrors of the site. But the relative link created on the clearnet mirror will not work on .onion mirror, despite me entering the same URL. Odd.
EDIT2: And if you edit the post from the .onion mirror and add a relative link there it works exactly as intended on both mirrors.

That's disappointing if that's the case. It's actually a much needed feature considering we're constantly linking between threads and have a domain that changes.

It looks like this is because the site will automatically switch onion links for the current domain. So you don't need to be on onion, just use the onion domain. You can even see this happen with a bare link like this:

So let me get this straight. You are posting an example text and then you just link it with a full onion link? I see...
What I did is I tried to take only the "/threads/the-future-of-this-site-a-k-a-kiwifarms-discuss.165503/post-16452469" (this one as an example) part of the link and insert that as a link.

yes there is. and there are lots of kiwifarms splinter sites. sadly, the majority of them died out due to a lack of interest (obviously, duh). the one that doesn't die out is arguably onionfarms, kiwifarm's #1 most visited splinter site.

aha! yes, let's do that and make everyone avoid this site because it's ridden with malware. dumb fuck.

Yeah but it doesn't seem to work if you hyperlink it like you did in this post. Seems to be real finicky.

Edit: But in my quote of your post, it works... like I said real finicky.

Balls to the walls. Let's abandon this Internet shit and turn the Kiwi Farms in to a weekly gossip rag.

Would it shock you to hear that there are what you can essentially call Tier 1 and Tier 2 magazine & periodical providers who supply all the major storefronts and independent stores, and allow you to pay them to make sure your specific rag is 'featured' in any given month? And do you think trannies wouldn't protest and contact the providers to bully them into dropping our very hurtful and dangerous 'zine?

Nobody said the malware had to be hosted on here, I'm talking about using something like the storm botnet as a p2p host
