Every single attempt to just give homeless people new housing has been a catastrophic failure. They usually end up destroying the place. A lot of them are too far gone, and some of them actually LIKE the "freedom" of being homeless.A genuine thought I had to help with homelessness would be to create/rent out a bunch of studio apartments and have 3-5 homeless people per apartment. Also supply them with stuff like shampoo, soap, razors, and weekly grocery deliveries. Each apartment is only paid off for one year, so they'll need to find jobs (and maybe a new apartment) if they want to keep off the streets.
Then I realized that I'm retarded, and this is just a homeless shelter, which already exists.
I think another piece of it that doesn't get mentioned much (and this is just a shower thought so I could be wrong on this), is that the great irony of all of this is that the usual type of people, especially men, that are just the stereotypical "down on their luck" usually don't end up homeless: they end up in jail. Because when a man gets laid off, the government still treats his alimony and child support like Paulie in Goodfellas: "fuck you pay me." So those men that COULD get back on their feet with a little assistance usually end up in jail for "being a deadbeat." Don't get me wrong: there are some legitimate deadbeats out there; this is just something I've been pondering for a couple days. Luckily I haven't gotten to mate yet because black women don't like 9-5 boring ass guys like me, so none of this applies personally.
