The General Thread

Thought of you all while dicking around in the library today.

Anyone ever have a recurring nightmare where, for reasons that only make sense in a dream, you're force to go back to high school? I woke up in a panic before my brain reminded me that I've been out of high school for 12 years (I actually finished a year early) and I graduated college 7 years ago.

It's not the exact same dream every time, but different variations. Like one where a faceless employer sent me back to highschool to "improve my math" (and thus being forced to work my way up from there like Billy Madison) and the one last night where I wasn't even given a reason. They're always fucking weird and impossible but they still scare the shit out of me every time.

Maybe it's all these "Back 2 School" sales I keep seeing everywhere I go (this is also around that time of the year when kids are going back after summer vacation and college students are starting a new semester) or maybe it's just the anxieties surrounding school that most of us still harbor somewhere in our subconscious. But they keep coming back.

I just keep having dreams where I have an assignment due in a couple of days that I need to finish or something. Sometimes back in college, sometimes in high school. Then I wake up and it takes me a second to remember that I'm not in school and I have to work today. Really miss those days sometimes... depending on the class.

I've had a recurring college-related dream too but it usually occurred when I was still in college (and usually after smoking a considerable amount of weed before bed), though it's popped up a couple of times since then.

My dreams are usually around exam time (mid-terms or finals) and I'll get the sudden shock that there was actually one or two additional courses that I somehow forgot I even signed up for and, until this point, never once attended and it's too late in the semester to drop. So dream me has to scramble to somehow did a passing grade in these long-neglected classes (as well as all the ones I'm currently juggling) or my GPA, which dream me suddenly gives a flying fuck about, will get rekt.

Yes. I hate having this experience when I'm not at home, especially when I'm driving.
I havent slept properly for days and everything seems like its melting. Oh god the neighbours kids wont stop screaming. I'm just trying to keep awake so I can eat some food.

There's nothing wrong with sleeping during the day. Lately I find I'm more productive at night, I suppose it's because the internet isn't as jammed as it would be when everyone is up.

Yeah I used to stay up all night and play vidya but I have to be up and around for my mother and I have my autism support group to attend during the week. I'm only awake because my stomach is playing up.

i dont think ive ever agreed with anything harder in my life

id gladly go back to dial up if it meant shit was how it was back then
At least you get some nice dial-up noises! You knew it was working when you get the usual good tones and static.

Someone posted this alternate look at things!
