The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

Watched the first episode of Singular Point, with no subtitles so I can't really comment much on the plot or characters, but I like the animation style. I'm really glad they didn't just go full CGI, the 2D stuff looks well done and colorful.

Speaking of Netflix monster shows, there's quite a few on the platform.

There's a Kong animated series that looks awful, but I haven't seen it. There's an Ultraman show that I haven't checked out either.

But there's also Pacific Rim: The Black, which I watched a couple weeks ago, and I enjoyed it. Its much better than PR2, that's for sure, and it makes for a fun expansion of the world.

As to the Kong animated series on Netflix, I thought it looked promising, as my little guy is a huge Kong fan. Despite being in the target age group for it, he didn’t even make it through a whole episode -and the plot line includes mechanical dinosaurs, which should’ve scored a few points with the 3-6 demographic.

Compared to Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, it was pretty lame, so the reviews were right this time.

The Godzilla anime trilogy was garbage, and I am still mad I wasted hours of my life hoping it might be okay. It was not.
Sadly, it wasn't great.

I tell people who ask me about it that you should only watch it if you are a Godzilla completist.

Its a shame too because the premise is fantastic, but it just never lives up to its potential. Not even close.

That said, I did kind of like Lovecraftian Spaghetti Monster Ghidorah, lol

I love the idea, too, but they sure as shit didn't utilize him to his fullest potential, either. Made for such an underwhelming climax.

It wasn't great sadly.

I couldn't bring myself to finish the last part. Not after they cucked Mecha G so hard. I also did not care about any of the characers, and was just sad I had wasted my time.

Someone had mentioned Gorgo ITT, and I would actually dig a Gorgo remake.

It was fun, but king of the monsters was better, I felt this could have been 2 movies, the hollow world was great but everything doing with apex felt tacked on, still, the battles were great, and at the end of the day, thats what you want.

Got my ticket for the afternoon showing tomorrow, pretty excited, hopefully I'll have the whole theater to myself. Are we just gonna use this thread as the defacto place to discuss GvK or is there gonna be a new thread created?

For those who are seeing it tomorrow, just give a yes or no answer for if there is a post-credit scene.

I love the recent Godzilla fans vs Kong fans memes coming out.

I'm trying to avoid the usual places I frequent until Friday morning after the movie, and that includes this thread 'til then. Don't want to come across anything on accident, even though I still remember some details of those leaks(?) people were whispering about like a year/year-and-a-half ago, especially the one(s) involving Rodan. The toy leaks from last year were all but confirming what was talked about.

Early-access viewers saying the battle sequences are amazing was all I could ever hope for. Hope you guys' theater experiences turn out to be amazing.

Wearing my Godzilla shirt under my work uniform tomorrow. Heading out to the movies right after. Let's gooooo!
I got myself this at the Alamo Drafthouse a month ago:

I have tickets to see it on Saturday, but I also have HBO Max ...

What do I dooooo? Do I wait until Saturday? Or do I watch it right away and then see it again in theaters? I wish I were more patient!

I watched it in theatre. Personally I recommend waiting. This is one of those movies that I would say is a good theatre experience.
