Thats what Im refering to. Frakenstein just kept being brought up in Godzilla and Toho in that period. They even give that eletricity power up to Godzilla against Mecha Godzilla...its pretty weird.

Didn't the German dubs of the Godzilla movies say that alot of the monsters were creations of Dr. Frankenstein?

Yeah in Germany it seemed that "Frankenstein" was shorthand for "this has monsters". Dunno about any changes beyond the titles

I wonder why Toho is taking so long to make another Godzilla movie, especially since they made it clear that Shin Godzilla was going to remain stand alone (even if they said back then it would be the first one out of a new universe).
The working title for the new one is "origins" but that could either just refer to this being the starting point of the series or maybe it could be maybe be set in the past?
Or maybe it will be connected to Gojira like most first movies in the eras tended to do.
I recall James Rolfe explaining that during Kong-athon. The germans really liked Frankenstein so they just wanted to shove him everywhere back then...even if Frankenstein himself doesnt appear.

I like to think the title is a play on the original Godzilla, since that was set in Japan 1954 while this one will be Japan 1945.

Some two brand new key visuals for the animated Gamera series, which were just dropped, showcasing two more recurring foes from the showa period while the site was temporarily down. Although Zigra looks more like a manta-ray in this one.
I guess all that's left now is to await for the final monster to be revealed. As for what I think of the upcoming show so far, I am still willing to give it a fair proper go once it's out. After all, it has been nearly a decade since I have not seen anything new from this series in a long arse time.

Oh yeah, getting some Shin Godzilla-vibes but WWII. The OG Godzilla that evolved much more rapidly than the one from 1954 sounds neat, though it makes it a good way to do a reboot for their own universe in the Reiwa period.

New Godzilla film is set during the end of World War II, he is created from the atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Well, to be more precise, Godzilla is formed from the fused carcasses of the Japanese civilians killed in the attack at Hiroshima. The film’s tone is very similar to GMK’s, where Godzilla is a force of pain of those millions of lives thrown away in a pointless world war, and Godzilla is looking for revenge against the people/government that threw its previous lives to the wind. I mentioned earlier that Godzilla was created at Hiroshima, and that means that Nagasaki will have a very similar, yet distinct creature to Godzilla appear. Will it be a friend or foe to Godzilla and mankind, and is this a kaiju we have seen before? Only time will tell (translated 11/7/2023 radioTokyo broadcast)
