Mostly true. When Scarlett started ranking high in major tourneys 5ish years ago, the Canadian media did the usual "first female" psyop and then there was some typical terfing and sperging and whiteknighting in the comment sections, but the whole thing fizzled surprisingly quickly. Most importantly I can't find any evidence of Scarlett doing the troon professional competitor trope where a troon she/her's their way into a female tournament or league and dumpsters everyone involved. Maybe Starcraft is just too much of a meritocracy for that to happen, but I think if Scarlett had done things like that I'd see a tournament result reflecting it and I can't find any.
Probably part of what let it fizzle quickly is that Scarlett didn't give the press a million quotes, leading inevitably to a follow-up story about "brave athlete stands up to fascist misogynist cis white men" blah blah. Leading to endless follow-up stories. Someone like keffals would just have to do all that. And that probably just makes sense right - Scarlett doesn't have time for all that shit, Scarlett's gota practice starcraft 14 hours/day. And Scarlett derives joy from being good at something and doing a good job, instead of sperging for ditch thirsty journos.
Also a side anecdote - Earlier this year I was watching a random Artosis brood war stream where he was deciding whether to unban random followers. So next up was some twitch sperg who said shit about Scarlett in his chat. So the stream chat instantly turned into 8chan vs reddit but Artosis said "uh yeah I don't do politics or care about news stuff but Scarlett is my friend and if you say shit about my friends you don't get unbanned."
Finally - we don't have to worry about Scarlett taking opportunity from female starcrafters because there's no serious women's league (I'm pretty sure) and there are no women in the top 1,000. It's like chess and poker, the XX humans just can't compete with XYs.
