I'm not going to get into the technical details, for one because I'm not that smart, and second because it is not relevant.

Hector (Marcan42) is part of Fail0verflow, who researched PS4 security and released their findings publicly. Because PS4 save files are encrypted, you are unable to edit them without cracking that encryption.

SaveWizard is a site owned by Wayne Beckett, this site uses the information released by FailOverflow and Marcan42 to allow users to decrypt the save file, modify it, and re-encrypt that data so, you are then able to use it on your PS4.

This required several key's, one of these keys is only possible to extract using advanced hardware based attacks. FailOverflow released this information but it is unlikely that many people (at that time) would be able to recreate this method.

This leads me to believe that Beckett was in contact with someone in FailOverflow at least 3-4 years ago (when SaveWizard began offering the service). i think safe to assume this could've been Marcan42.

To add to this, these types of Grey market cracking resale business have always been closely tied to the console Hacking dev community. Before sites like HackerOne and other bug bounty operations, this was the only way to cash in on the hundreds (1000's?) of hours put into research.

Because it us a legal gray area, they are very insular and the companies change names and hands repeatedly to avoid legal threats (see the Team Xecuter; Gary Bowser, Chen, & Max Louarn lawsuit saga for a current example).

Edit: I should also point out for those who are unaware how Byuu might tie into Save Wizard. The game save modifications used on Save Wizard are well within the technical interests and general skillset of Byuu/Near. He has been involved in ROM hacks and fan translations for like 20 years now. To make SaveWizard profitable (a membership cost a one-time $60 fee, last I checked) you have to entice new users constantly. That is achieved by continually adding new games and new mods to the games that are already supported.
