My goal is 300 people at $40, which I think is reasonable as it's about 2.5% of our daily logins. There's a long, long list of things I need to pay for to upgrade. Day one is upgrading harddrives.

I think this is reasonable, especially since you are an essential service to me, I don’t pay for any other streaming service, news source or social media.

Business wise , I think you should offer tiers for people who can’t afford $40 a month, but still want to contribute and be a ‘member’. They could have special stickers or an extra feature or two.

It was a very successful platform and I think Kiwi Farms should try to emulate that kind of culture.

There’s several things SA did that would also make money for Null.

I remember when ppl first started posting about SA here, this was like eight years ago, and all the “only retards pay to post online” Reminded me of Boomers who had a stroke over rumors Facebook was going to start charging a fee and they would never pay it!!!!

In 2005 the small user fee on SA kept spam retards and preteens out, or at least made them pay up to be a reoccurring retard on the site. It also allowed ppl to have multiple sock accounts.

I don’t think KF should institute a paywall to post, but paying to change avatars would make Null money. Under the current system it would either need to be a crypto pay or ppl could send a check to put money on account for the purpose. Not ideal, but I still think there is money to be made on KF civil wars and shit flinging.

I may be a tard, but I'm on Tor and ever since the site update I can only 'like' users' posts. I can't hold the button for a choice of reacts.

I'd like to send a one-off payment to the site. Can't afford a regular sub, but keen to donate when I can.

I think it's better to have lower tiers for a few reasons:
1 I reckon that's going to make more than double the number of people donate. That's usually a common pricing strategy in marketing, right?
2 The more people you have donating the easier it's going to be for people to decide to join in. If it seems very exclusive they may be discouraged.
3 The perks will be much smaller which will hopefully make them less disruptive.
4 A big portion of the userbase is in less wealthy countries and regions where $40 is a much more noteworthy sum.

you're wrong, we should totally make KF like a fancy country club where you have to pay to get in and, the more you pay the more access you get to different boards. Let the people with actual money run the show and start threads. And honestly? We should have separate threads for each payment level so the wealthy users don't have to deal with poor people's gross opinions. Like, imagine how much better everything would be if we kept the riffraff out.

Adding lower tiers depends on the overhead. I get the impression Null wants to start small and work out the details using "Friendly" contributors, that is the ones that are ok with $40 and likely won't balk if the perks don't work quite right for a while. As well as evaluating how long it takes and costs to process each payment, etc.

Profile privacy was deliberately broken more than 10 years ago, and I have deliberately broken it every time it unbroke. Today, I restored it. You can now control who can see or post on your profile.

I disagree with auto-hiding banned users' profiles, using annoying users' profile pages as designated shitting grounds is fun and builds community character.

It also makes it harder to figure out why someone got banned, which is something people often share on banned profiles.

I have found a way to make money for the Kiwi Farms. In the next week, I hope to release a way to streamline sending in physical checks to our PO Box for perks. This is how the process will work:

I have a radical idea that's not a shitpost. Here me out: make a low-effort lolcow dating simulator game and put that on Steam. They have game maker programs for slop like that and people can easily give you money and make it into a meme game.
