If you made a one of the $40 (or higher) monthly subscription perks the ability for a user to add a custom text disclaimer to every post by another user for 24-48 hours or change another user’s avatar for 24 or 48 hours you’d get tons of ppl opting for a higher sub tier. Idk how you’d limit this, let’s say you only get to do it to 1, or 2 users, per month you get to use this power on.

It’s the type of incentive that’s irresistible to ppl who might otherwise have no altruistic support towards KF. You have users who spend countless hours applying angry stickers to every post by a posters that disagreed with them. You need to monetize that angry autism somehow because it’s a cash cow.

These are a separate class of people from those will support out of principles or ppl who want to contribute financially to something they enjoy using. The unhinged, angry shit flingers who come here to get mad, say nigger and discuss all the different ways they hate women need to pay up too.

Josh will never admit this because it affects his bottom line, but the absolute worst users in any online community are the paypiggies. Just look at @CECA Loather, the man is a brainless wretch. The only people excited at the prospect of a paypiggy edited first page are the paypiggies who want more eyes on their mediocre posts. Every other feature will be dedicated to unfunny discord news curated by drug addicts. Stick with the other paypiggy perks and discard this idea. It will only make the site worse.
I know you are jealous that people have money to actually support the site and hate the idea of transactions and paying for content but it is a good way to raise money.

No one is forcing you to read them and it is better than erecting a paywall.

And really, posts that you needn't read getting exposure? Threads that have passed the Proving Grounds being highlighted? Oh no, the site is ruined because I don't know how to not click on threads I don't want to read! What a disaster!

Personally, I don't mind a random thread, let alone a thread someone paid, getting highlighted that would otherwise not seen the light of day. After all, threads, especially those getting greenlit to be posted, usually take effort and it is a shame if it is relegated to someone on the site gathering dust.

If you want to automate crypto payments for the few of us who use it maybe check out Trocador AnonPay. I've paid invoices online that have integrated with it before. However, I understand that since crypto users are so uncommon that this might not justify the development time investment, whether that be at launch, or possibly ever. Thank you for indicating that you'll allow manual cypto donations though!

Also, how acceptable would it be to pay via an international bank draft / check? I would need to figure that out, like with the legal fund's international money orders, but if it's an option, I'll keep it as a backup.

Also, you mentioned on MATI two weeks ago that someone had told you of a way to buy Monero with a credit card, but without Know Your Customer. Did you ever get a response? If so, could you please share that?
The only way I've seen to avoid KYC for cypto purchases is with an exchange called Mt Pelerin, but it doesn't offer XMR. I also haven't tested it myself, so I have no idea whether it's legitimate.

Null you should just turn the sticker system into crypto but do it the way Doge started originally before it became a “meme coin” just have it as a silly tipping system that you hold the majority stake in, and in 5 years some other tech bozos and indians will take it too seriously, inflate it, and then bam enough funding for Kiwifarms to last forever.

In addition to all these new features of course.

I think I have one more perk idea: anonymous posting tokens.

I'm thinking of making it so that certain users in certain boards can post anonymously on a timer. Like you might get 2 posts a day or something. I want to test that as a feature and then perhaps increase the number of tokens for anon posts someone gets per day if it works as I expect.
I am a fan of this. I bet that there are some smart users with personal knowledge of cows / relevant events which would like to post information but don't because they're worried about someone reading back through their entire account's history for clues as to their identity. It's easy not to power level, but its also pretty hard to avoid thousands of posts adding up to a profile that's helpful for someone looking to demask you.

It's always been possible to make a burner, but this will be much easier and more versatile.

Can we get an option to not have extra notifications for watched threads? The notification is annoying because it makes it look like someone replied to one of my posts, but I like having all the threads I'm following be there on the front page.

edit: nevermind I got it

I would sub for $20 but $30 is a bit much and $40 definitely unreasonable. The lower the number, the exponentially more amount of people, and thus checks, I could see coming in.

Also, if you subscribe to this, would you get T&H, or would you need to double dip?

Literally the same as like tiers on patreon and kickstarter backing, I get not wanting to make it complicated

but you should DEFINITELY make it easy for users that can and want to do $400 or up and same with users that can and want to do $20.

Then commensurate perks.

Exclusive t shirts would be a definite way to get a donation drive going. (Sign up by such and such date.)

Cute kiwis and the mutt like fundraising tour 2025, with a smiling jk rowling.

Cost of producing the merch would only be a fraction of the fundraising amount.

Regular merch runs could also be a great way of showcasing original art from the forum.

Warning autism:
Also, if you wanna be fully autistic, you could do something that I’ve never really seen done before where you never have to update the amount if you tie it to the value of something that doesn’t have compounding inflation like USD.
Classic example is the “Big Mac index”, or gas prices.

Harder for users to predict needing to pay x dollars, but instead of big waves of bitching about prices going up, it’s amortized over time of small increases.

Doesn’t handle wanting to do more real value. But, with the below table, you could retire lower tiers, or move perks up a tier once every 5-10 years.

Hell, could tie it to silver price. Reddit gold was a really retarded the execution but the phrasing is okay.

“Kiwi farms silver” (pay the equivalent of 1 Troy oz of silver)

Ounces (troy)GramsValue (USD)
0.515.5516.71
131.1033.42
262.2166.84
4124.41133.68
8248.83267.36
16497.66534.72
32995.311,069.44

Then like flair for a kiwi farms “32” User.
Should have flair for current and former. So it stays around but doesn’t look the same as current.

Highly recommend that you look at information out there about the “long tail” for donators/backers and the breakdown of what payment levels tend to be the most net profitable.
Hell even twitch subscribers would be a good source of info on this.

AI is really good to help research this. I recommend deep research with ChatGPT.

Yes if left unchecked it could be bad. But if it’s separate. And there’s a bit of a filter. It’s not all bad.

If you want a sampling of things that kiwi farms users are likely to want to feature and promote, Just look at the super chat segment on MATI.

There’s a fair dose of cringe and nonsense but it is absolutely outweighed by quality and actual engagement.

It would reflect the user base. If you have reddit you would get tranny and faggot and groomer shit, if you do it here you get what someone that likes this place enough to actually pay into it would like.
I’m definitely hopeful and optimistic.

Agreed on both points. Having any support with a low floor is a very good idea. Like even $5 or $10 but the USD is becoming more and more worthless.

Setting up perks is definitely an important part of tiers.

Honestly, the best way would be letting the community decide and brainstorm on perks.

(Yes triple post. Sorry)

honestly I was thinking there's no way we'd get 600 people at $20 but the poll says otherwise after a day. It might be doable at $20.
That's assuming that there aren't richfags who'd donate more even if the minimum is $20. If even a quarter of the people who voted for $30 and $40 pay that amount, that's another $2400/mo.
