Over the last few years, since our license was revoked by XenForo, I have wanted to rewrite the forum software. However, this is not happening, especially if we're not making money, and if we're going to make money on the site I might as well actually update the site. Once I'm happy with how the site's actually running I'll start spending more time in the rewrite.

Appreciate the effort Null. If you're familiar with Rust or Go, and haven't had the time to check for alternatives to XF, SvelteKit is a decent frontend alternative and from my experience pretty efficient for rendering. But your backend layer needs to be connected to it so idk

If feasible, I'd recommend two levels of this. $20 for Kiwi+ (flashy decorations and access to the board) and $40 for Kiwi++ (the other stuff plus one feature per month). $40/mo is a bit pricey in today's economy. People would probably be more likely to pay $20/mo.

On that note didn't the US make some legal exceptions about banks not being able to refuse processing checks and such under certain circumstances after 9/11 with all that patriot act shit? Namely for people or organizations that are suspected of having ties to terrorist organizations, cartels, arms dealers and things of that nature? Or more to the point, a legal obligation to not process them, hold them and contact the feds about it to find out if they really are tied to something like that before being allowed to process them? I seem to remember something about that from back in the day

So my concern wouldn't be so much that the troons could outright shut this down, but given how much they reee about how this site is a hate site run by evil far right nazis, etc... I can absolutely see some of them finding out about this new system and where the checks are actually being sent to on your end from the individual users banks and then calling up most of the major US banks, telling them about how evil terrorists kf and its supporters are and how they're totally funding anti trans right wing terrorism or whatever using this sneaky method and demanding they investigate where the money is going and who is sending it, and getting all the checks put on hold pending said investigation, with threats to call the feds or media or whatever if they don't

Remember, its not like alot of the usual people who fuck with this site are above doing such questionably ethical shit. So I wouldn't put it past them. It wouldn't work in the end cause theres no actual terrorism funding or whatever going on, but it would cause a shitshow for you and probably for the people who's checks got flagged for investigation. Might also incline some banks to try some stupid shit to make it as complicated as possible to do this as a way of deterring everyone involved. Whats that saying? If I can't stop you I can at least make doing it a major pain in the ass
