Careercow The Irate Gamer / Chris Bores / Chris Neo Show - AVGN Copycat Turned Ghost Doctor

About time someone brought this thread back, I was waiting, I could take a shit faster than that response.

So he released a ghost hunting movie called Pursuit of the Paranormal. And it was a complete bomb (surprised?)

He's also been posting nothing of any substance recently, just tons of videos obsessing over Skylanders. His subscriber count has been dropping like a rock. I'm wondering if this might be the end for Chris.

Really his subscribers are going down? lol Also Lady Buggin seems to like Alex Jones a lot.

Has he ever posted anything of substance?

No, but I'd like to believe he was on a substance when making them.

On second thought, I take that back. That would make them something of worth.

2006 called they want their premise back. The ghost tapping entertainment well was tapped long ago. Hell the horror mockumentary well has been tapped with stuff like Grave Encounters. So this in 2013 is just kind of sad.

Also surprised this guy is still a thing.

Chris Bores still lives as if he's in 2006

It's like an even shittier TGWTG cameo review.

At least the AVGN puts more production into his effects.

I dunno, TGWTG's crossovers at least have more than one person. Yeah it still sucks, but at least it's better than one guy "acting" as stolen fictional characters and a skeleton with the voice of Woody Allen.

Come to think of it, OPL also stole characters too... I'm sensing a trend here. Either that or he's just :stupid:.

On a side note, those X-Men suck.

That suddenly makes me think of DarkSyde Phil. Maybe Chris and Phil should do a video together, either playing or reviewing a game. It could be good in a way that points out all the problems in how they play the game.

They would both end up blaming the other and all the stress would result in :briefs:  (:_(

turns out youtube's Favourite plagiarist has ripped off another game called commander cool just for the sake of making a shit attempt to copy the AVGN's steam game. He still hasn't learned that no matter how much you tube tried to make you their version of James Rolfe, it ain't gonna happen. Though James can come up with non-stolen ideas, is talented and is a nice person. three-nil the the nerd.

Just for the record, I think AVGN sucks shit through a hose just as hard as irate gamer.
Perhaps but at least James Rolfe is a very friendly guy who enjoys what he's doing and can actually have his own ideas and not steal them regardless of subjective quality.

The Commander Cool people actually sell their development kit (or whatever it's called) as a platformer starter kit, so in that sense it's not really plagiarism, it's just a reskin (though the kit itself apparently has stolen assets in it, so maybe it is?).

However, it's still a lazy effort. Someone posted a link to it earlier (I think), but the IGS blog breaks the game down really well. For all the time it supposedly spent being developed, whoever pieced this together for him really phoned it in. They did a really good job at ripping him off, at least.

Here's the video where he announces the release months after the fact (on the same day IGS pointed out he hadn't done anything to promote it, natch):

Here's a fun game: take a shot every time he talks about the game as though he actually knows something about it. Oh no! You suddenly have cirrhosis!

The prevailing theory is that they took Chris' check, sat on it until he got suspicious (which took three years :stupid: ), and then bought the Commander Cool source assets, slapped Chris' face all over it, and called it a game.

He's a sellout. Take that movie of his, Ashens did a movie nearly identical to his that costs a fraction as much and allowed people to view for free.

Hi Archfiend!!!

I'd feel bad for him if he were literally anyone else. :alog:

He's falling on really hard times, with this, then the movie flop, as well as his subscribers leaving in droves, but this really is all his fault. According to IGS, he wasted a ton of money trying to get Pursuit... on TV even after SyFy told him to his face that nobody watches ghost hunting shows anymore. And as for Youtube, he needs to focus on something and stop obsessing over Skylanders. Either talk about modern games or go back to the AVGN-ripoff.

It also doesn't help that he's a complete jackass with an inflated head.

I used too watch both of these guys as a teenager in 08', i'm shocked BORES is still going, i mean yeah MANS MAKING DOUGH but i'm just shocked people even still watch him.
The people who watch nowadays would probably be trolls or people who just want to see what he screws up with in his videos. I used to watch him as well and now I somewhat regret it though I kind of do want to watch his E.T. review again if solely to see if there are any changes to me watching it now compared to back then.

I remember finding him before AVGN, i watched the ones people say he had copied and then never watched BORES again, does he change his videos? I remember he ran a scam compition a few years back too.
I remember the scam competition as well. It was basically sending him five dollars to enter a contest in winning a PS3 and some games for it. Though if I recall correctly, the website he used for it also ripped off others as well so Bores wasn't the only one.

I'd love to know more about this.

I first heard about Irate Gamer when his first DVD came out. One of the guys on Big Head Mode reviewed it, doing the obligatory comparisons to AVGN and just in general tearing his lazy writing apart. If I remember correctly the DVD itself was poorly programmed as there was some sound sync problems and a glitch with the menu.

I've never really watched AVGN. I'm just fascinated with all of Bores' horrible workmanship, deflection of criticism and sock-puppetry. Why any website would support him is beyond me.

EDIT: Here's a link to the Big Head Mode piece if anyone is interested. Had to pull it from the Wayback Machine and thus all the images are broken, but still, it's a good look at Bores' early videos.

Fair warning: when it gets into the part about AVGN's DVD it becomes incredibly bitchy.

I remember Chris Bores left a few fake reviews on his own DVDs on amazon too. It blows my mind that he thinks his material is of marketable quality anyway. They're not even worth watching for free, and no amount of fake reviews is going to change that.

Tbh i would only ever buy one of an online critics DVDs and it would be the cinema snobs' and thats because apprently his cat gave it a good review...;) its as fair as BORES's comments on amazon ;)
Regarding online critics selling their reviews on DVD, it'd be a waste of money when their reviews are downloaded off of YouTube. So much for those youtube critics getting $5 from selling their DVD's.

So Bores has released a new vid promoting his Paranormal movie extravaganza thing. Some points of interest:

-He claims that the turnout for both the movie and the ghost hunt were great (going so far as to say that the ghost hunt sold out). Coincidentally, someone had previously gotten in touch with one of the vendors at the event who claimed there were only twenty or thirty people at most.
-He plays a clip of his lecture before the movie, which is followed by some very fake sounding applause. He follows this with a clip from the ghost hunt, during which only one other person is seen on camera. Sold out indeed.
-He's attempting to get the video on some sort of Pay-Per-View service online. This will clearly end well.

tl;dr Bores still won't admit he's a sinking ship. It's amazing to me GotGame still gives him money when he hardly ever uploads reviews. I can't imagine they pay him that much, though.

What does he do for a living, anyway? He can't possibly be living off the Irate Gamer money, unless GotGame/YouTube REALLY pays well, in which case I need to start looking into it myself.

I don't think he has a degree; I remember the IGS blog discussing an old bio where he said he 'left college', and that's usually a euphemism for 'dropped/flunked out'.
