I was just watching a jred ( i guess its jreg's second channel idk I don't watch too much of his stuff ) video talking about phone addiction. But it kind of brought up something that I think is at the core of this.

It's that parents are willingly conditioning their kids to have this same addiction to social media, the internet, and to me the porn problem seems very tied in with these other things.

Lets say even if the parents do set up all the child protection mechanisms they possibly can to keep them on child safe sites, where they can't talk to random strangers or see porn, gore, or whatever else you wouldn't want a child to have access to. Even then I think the damage letting a device raise your kid will do is going to ruin people. I think they probably will develope all the problems people worry about now.

My point is. These laws aren't going to really solve anything. They are doing the same thing that these laws always do, give some people a false sense of security, and expand government overreach. Meanwhile I feel like it's a red herring that distracts people away from the fact they really shouldn't just let their kid go online.

How did you find battery life in laptop and tablet mode? The consensus seems to be that it's shorter than when running Windows, but those comments are from a while back.

Have you had any of the issues when the tablet shutting off once disconnected from the keyboard?
I only used it for a week or two then lost interest as I had a Thinkpad 2-in-1 so i don't quite remember, but the battery on it was dying under Windows anyways so i didn't have valid data

Cross posting with the Linus Tech Tips Thread as he talked about trying Linux again on his podcast and showed off all the machines he managed to break. Full series will hopefully be entertaining and show off Linus being a fucking moron again

It's unbelievably frustrating that I can't just go to Democrat stronghold legislators and tell them "no" like an owner of an unruly dog and they would have to listen to me, in particular.

The new Linus Tech Tips Linux Challenge video dropped.

TL:DW : Linus goes with PopOS again, and it keeps breaking.

At 7:05, he even has a section pointing out, once again, why he doesn't just use his industry contacts to get the optimum experience out of the gate. He asks Google and ChatGPT, and gets PopOS recommended by both.

The comments have a bunch of support (and cope) saying that these are one of a kind unicorn bugs due to PopOS changing DE recently. As one comment rightly points out.
"maybe next year he will catch pop os at a good time"
"There should be no such thing as a "bad time" for a main line / LTS branch of an operating system. If this kind of stuff can get through to literally anyone who happens to click "download now" at the wrong time there is something fundamentally flawed with the project management. Completely unacceptable."
Along with the usual complaining about his choice of distro.

Wow, I guess if a complete subhuman chooses the wrong distro, Linux doesn't work? Fuck you're trash, Canadian lover.

I asked an ACTUALLY useful AI (Chinese) what distro a Linux newcomer should use. Guess what was the #1 choice?

PopOS moved way too fast with changing wholesale to Cosmic DE for a new release, they stepped on a rake. Trying to replicate Linux Mint's success with moving away from GNOME extensions to Cinnamon is a tough gamble in an incredibly busy period for the Linux Desktop(tm).

LTT is just too obtuse to ever admit he steps on rakes himself, it's a Canadian issue.

Here is Linus' query to ChatGPT from the video:
I want to make the switch to Linux. I have a variety of PCs, each with different needs and ideally I could find a distro that will work across all of them
2x - Desktop PCs mostly for single player or online multiplayer gaming and web browsing
1x - Handheld gaming PC with integrated controller (GPD Win 5)
1x - Theater room PC used mostly for gaming (local multiplayer)
1x - Laptop used mostly for work in a browser and very occasionally gaming
Bolded broken English is his, not mine. Running it through duck.ai with a GPT-4o mini, it does recommend Pop!_OS as a first choice (followed by Ubuntu, Manjaro, Mint and SteamOS). He asked for an "everything" distro and got recommended shit tagged with desktop, laptop and handheld.

For comparison, here's a more reasonable query to the same model:
Recommend me a Linux distribution fit for a beginner or amateur computer user to do daily tasks on, i.e. web browsing, gaming and light paperwork processing
This gives you Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin OS, Elementary OS and Pop!_OS, in that order. No Youtube views with this one, Linus and that other soyfaced faggot (Brady?) disapprove.

I, for one, blame Rust for this.

Honestly, with a prompt that retarded- literally calculated to make a suggestion primarily based off previous years LTT videos- I'm surprised it didn't recommend Bazzite as the best possible beginner distro.

Well, for Linus it well might be. Bazzite is all about getting you into video games as soon as possible, so Steam is likely one of the few things they actually test for (and care about fixing), and upstream are hardly going to break Plasma or Firefox for him.
Wendel from Level1Techs helped GamerNexus set up Bazzite for their Linux benchmarking, and unlike most tech youtubers Wendel actually knows what he's doing. If it was truly an awful choice for a Linux newbie, he probably would have pushed harder for his personal favourite (Fedora) or an established just works distro (Mint).
