When I watched the trailer it was the biggest WTF I had in a while

For starters why it looks so cheap? did they make this on a shoestring budget? why the CG is so shit? it looks worse than the one in the sequels which was already mocked back in the day, but this isnt 2003 anymore so why cant they get better graphics? I seen fucking games with more photorealistic people

Also whats the point of bringing back neo? he died at the end of revolutions, even got a robot funeral or whatever that was. I dont know if the path of neo or the matrix online games are canon but in any case wasnt there a peace treaty with the machines? why the war is back?

Then why its OLD neo and OLD trinity back? and why isnt morpheus back? guess fishburne was asking for too much money? because morpheus didnt die back then. And if we're going with a new generation of the matrix then why dont change all the characters? could even do a switcheroo and have morpheus be a white dude and neo a black guy, or a black girl for diversity points (or a trans-black-filipino-midget and go for broke)

Dunno it just doesnt feels like a matrix movie, between the cheap look and casting decisions this looks like another generic action movie sequel done solely for the money, like bay's transformers

Supposedly, the Matrix games are canon and in one of them, Morpheus dies. But that's the point -- Neo died and now he's back, why can't Morpheus be back then? it's reaching Game of Thrones season 8 levels of plot tardedness.

At the same time, I can only speculate, but I wonder if Mr. Fishburne and Mr. Wachowski are on good terms... probably not.

Anyway, had a random thought regarding the original Matrix. Anyone else get the feeling Neo was at one point originally written to be a high schooler or college freshman? Not as a salary man with a 9 to 5 in a cubicle? I actually found myself seeing some scenes involving him early more fitting to a being a high schooler, like the scene where he gets chewed out by his boss being originally scripted to be given by a school principal.

I say this cause apparently the or matrix was HEAVILY rewritten up until the time it was being filmed. Warner actually gave a damn about quality over quantity in the days before the streaming wars and wanted to make sure the Wachoski wouldn't scare off to many protentional ticket buyers who spread the word that a movie advertised as an action summer blockbuster turned into a 2 and a half hour philosophy lecture.

You know I'm looking forward to this, I don't expect it to be good, in fact, I'm expecting it to be bad I just want to see how off the rails it can go. Jupiter Ascending is a bad movie but it was truly fascinating with many of the decisions they made. I'd rather have that than another bland Marvel which quality may be higher but takes no risks.

But that is me expecting they won't do a lazy Force Awakens style remake of the first Martix, which could very well happen.

It was The Matrix Online, some time after the game was sold to Sony Online/Daybreak and they needed to cut a lot of fat so they killed Morpheus. They had actually paid Larry to continue the role for many in-game events.

Which to me, I think it makes a lot of sense if they pick up from TMO where The Merovingian was the big bad (and he's cast to appear in Resurrections) but given the return of Keanu and Carrie, I fear we're leaning into safe reboot territory.

That's really what our culture has come to. Mass produced films intended for foreign audiences or pushing inane ideologies and westerners now have to rely on amateurs on the internet to get their entertainment from it.

I'm so glad I was born when I was so I could experience better media before everything started going downhill in the 2000s.

Also the original Matrix was lightning in a bottle, they will never capture the 90s zeitgeist of that movie. I don't think anything else will come as close while the crazies control Hollywood.

I saw the first Matrix movie in the theaters like, a week after it came out. We didn't really know anything about it.

All of our minds were fucking blown.

A huge part of that was the fact that it relied on special effects that we had never seen before.

Today, they are fucking quaint and dated.

This is going to be a fucking disaster, it would always have been a disaster, but post-trooning out? Holy shit.
