The Matrix Resurrections Thread - Woah

Remember when most people hated Reloaded and everyone hated Revolutions? But now the twittersphere is celebrating the return of this franchise like it's going to redefine cinema when even the first movie wasn't very good.
Honestly, I still consider the first movie my number one favorite, even while acknowledging all the influences it had. I wonder how many people are just bitter over the fact that it overshadowed films like Dark City and the like. Don't get me wrong, those other films are also great (Dark City is a definite must watch), but The Matrix is still my top pick.

Makes me worry just how Resurrections will turn out.

So basically Matrix started out as a certain kind of movie with a certain kind of message behind it and then, after some time, it is declared to have been a movie with a newly claimed, hitherto unmentioned message all along? In other words, Matrix was born an action movie and is now supposedly a trans allegory, which in itself is a trans allegory allegory.
This is literally what it's going to be. New trailer:

"Maybe this isn't the story we think it is."

Why did they waste such perfect talent on such shit movies?
The "Bedrock's Most Wanted" reenactment of Fred embezzling money, and "Fred" getting his catchphrase wrong.:story:
like it's going to redefine cinema when even the first movie wasn't very good.
At least the fights are well-choreographed. No obvious cutaways or shaky cam.🤔 Morpheus realizes Smith can tank his punches, so he goes in for a ground kick, using his whole body weight.

Not too shabby, considering neither is a trained fighter. Weaving almost broke his hand filming the bathroom scene.

You know weird how they are claiming that it was always a trans allegory despite it having ton of Bible themes?
There is only one mention of "trans" in the original. "Call trans opt" appears whenever they call the operator for an exit.

If that actually stood for transexual, we'd get a scene like this:

Trooneo: "Operator, I need an exit!"
Operator: "The next exit is in the house to your left, head bedroom, walk-in closet, right in the box underneath the old stamp collection!"
Trooneo proceeds to the location, opens the box, retrieves a snub-nose revolver and shoots himself in the head.

Now I get how Matrix can be a trans allegory.

Is it safe to confirm that Trinity will be The One in this movie now?

It's not like it matters to me at all, the second and thirdobies kinda killed any potential the series had for all time longevity imo but it's all so tiresome.
Is this your first "shitty remake rodeo"?
Of course, there's going to be an ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL dangerhair, that's going to be The One (this time fo real yo).

Just think of Rey in SW or Burnham in ST or that wetback in Terminator or the entirety of Ghostbusters 2016... the list goes on.

You know Trinity = Carrie Ann Moss and her hair isn't dyed in the trailers right... the dangerhairs might be the main characters but I doubt it.

This last trailer makes it look like they went with "She had to save him, now he has to save her" and she's the real key all along. Which isn't terrible per se, just predictable AF. And when I have discount Morpheus but you include Jada "Entanglement" Pinkett this scream current year. Not a surprise I know, but as I said, tiresome. I'll probably check it out on a friend's hbomax once it's out.

Look at this official poster and tell me this isn't the designated ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL dangerhair:
Whoever this chick is (most likely she'll have they/them pronouns, cause of course she has), she will be TEH ONE 4 REALZ GUISE and Neo, that UGH old white man, will be disposed of with some shitty remark akin to "What, so you thought the world only revolved around you cause you're an UGH white man?Real talk! It's, like, current year, pal."

That is the danger hair. I don't think she will be the one. She's going to do what Trinity did in the original w/o the love story attaching her to Neo.

It's not a good outcome if either of us are correct though. The Wachowskis have 1 good movie to their name and this new one has almost no shot of being good. It won't even ruin the original since Reloaded, and Revalations exist and Lana(?) has done everything in his power to ruin it irl.

Trailer looks fine, don’t care one way or the other about the trans stuff… but did they seriously cast a random black guy as Morpheus without even asking Laurence Fishburne to come back?
I'm more upset about Smith 2.0. Weaving played Smith for a GE commercial, but not for this?
Which makes me think, he wasn't brought back due to wrong think, or he turned it down cause the script stunk like a rotting axe wound.

You've felt it your whole life, felt that something is wrong with the world.
