🐱 The Men Who Want to End Circumcision in America

In this clip from American Circumcision, Jonathon Conte expresses the loss of trust he experiences while coming to terms with his circumcision. He fought against the practice as an intactivist (intact + activist) pushing for babies' bodies to remain intact, just the way they were born. Two years ago, he died by suicide; he is survived by his partner, Christopher Holden.

Georgetown University professor Ryan McAllister hears the stories of many men who have been circumcised and feel they cannot share their feelings about the experience with anyone else. After hearing many traumatic and stigmatizing stories, he says, "If you are willing to accept a man's feelings about circumcision as valid, then you have to question circumcision."

The film's director, Brendon Marotta, said in an interview with Plus (The Advocate's sister magazine) that the longterm harm is undisputed, stating, "Even the most pro-circumcision doctor in our film admits the pain from circumcision creates a lasting change in behavior that has been scientifically proven. Change in behavior is a form of memory, what in this case is known as somatic memory. The idea that early life experiences can shape who we are is scientifically proven.”

Marotta goes on to connect the procedure to toxic masculinity, "When it comes to toxic masculinity or rape culture, one of our interview subjects notes that circumcision teaches men that if you are bigger and stronger than someone else, you get to do what you want to their body. It teaches this in their first shared sexual experience, the first time someone else touches their genitals, and in the relationship all other relationships will be patterned on, their relationship with their mother."

Are there any actual reasons to have a circumcision besides theological bs? What medical circumstances would warrant such a procedure, even as an adult?

I just picture Don Corleone looking down after being circumcised "Look how they massacred my boy"
unless your foreskin is so tight around the glans that it is physically impossible to pull it back, None. and even then, its not usually required to have a full removal.

Oh, and when its done to an infant, its under no anesthetic, and the foreskin is partially fused to the glans.

Those screams man. those screams...

Now that I think about it, how would that work with an adult? I assume there is stitching involved once the turtleneck is snipped, so how would they deal with morning wood?

Image unrelated... or is it?

So toxic masculinity isn't your fault anymore? Stay on message you lunatics.

About everything before the last paragraph: circumcision is literally cosmetic surgery on infants. You don't need to really point out anything more about. It's vain, unasked for, bloody and painful.

Wait a minute, are so many people trooning out and turning their dicks into axe wounds as part of latent psychological trauma?

circumcision teaches men that if you are bigger and stronger than someone else, you get to do what you want to their body.
That is exactly what I took away from my own circumcision. My first memory at the age of two was looking at my dick and thinking, “I don’t know why, but I’m going to grow up big and strong just so I can put this in people when they don’t want it.”

There's little evidence that circumcision reduces male pleasure. Adult men in Africa were questioned before and after they had a circumcision. Most reported no change in their sexual experience, some reported it improved. This is really the only way to do it, because you're circumcised at birth and you have no experience of having a foreskin, so you need adult males who are sexually active and then got circumcised later. Its like describing the color blue to a blind person. You have no experience having something, so how can you experience its absence when you never had it in the first place?

Other studies that reported a decrease typically used circumcised and uncircumcised men to draw their conclusions. This is a problem because its really fucking easy to tell what the study is doing and looking for, causing you to bias it. Not to mention there's already an American stigma that circumcision makes you less sensitive. One 'groundbreaking' study that they like to cite is a British study that interviewed 1,059 uncircumcised men and 319 or so circumcised men in Belgium. The thing is circumcision is relatively rare in the EU, this bias is even going to be more pronounced than in the US, and the uncircumcised sample population outnumber the circumcised population by 3 to 1. This is fucking awful.

However, that being said, there's relatively little benefits to doing it over not doing it. I've read the literature and I'm still not convinced of the medical evidence. Besides, American circumcision was actually pioneered by Kellogg (yes, the guy who made the cereal) in order to stop boys from masturbating so much. Typically circumcision was only employed back then for religious regions or medical ones. Kellogg advocated it to stop and reduce sexual pleasure. Now, the Victorian morality angle of circumcision in America disappeared and is replaced with a medical one.

So basically circumcision is only if you really believe the medical evidence, religious reasons or for aesthetic purposes.

You know, the Cristians made circumcision optional in order to become one of them. Turns out its really hard to convert someone when you tell them "oh by the way, i'm going to need to take a knife and snip off some bits of your delicate manhood in order to baptize you"

Medical/cosmetic/ethical discussions aside, I can't stop thinking about what it's like to have a regular conversation with these guys outside of their usual line of work

Apparently its beneficial for people who never bathe.

Not really worth it. Retarded people that never bathe vs Innocent babies that die/get mutilated during malpractice (that does happen).

Also not really beneficial if you do it the Jewish way of having a rabbi bite it off and get get the baby an STI.

"So, what do you do for a living?"
"Oh, basically I talk about dicks all day."

Well you know how it'll be. They'll probably bring up dicks and sperg about it. And continue to sperg about after you've told them that you agree with them.

Extreme cases of phimosis that can't be cured with therapy. All other supposed benefits of circumcision are pseudo-science, such as not getting infections and so on. You'd have to be an absolute pig to get cheesy dick with a foreskin, so all those people defending circumcision because it prevents dick cheese are just admitting they never wash their own.

Fun fact: In Judaism, male circumcision is required to be able to participate in Yahweh's covenant.

Marotta goes on to connect the procedure to toxic masculinity, "When it comes to toxic masculinity or rape culture, one of our interview subjects notes that circumcision teaches men that if you are bigger and stronger than someone else, you get to do what you want to their body. And now this movement will die as it devolves into purity spiraling collectivist identity politics.

the only thing I find more confusing than we still do this, is no one rationally can speak against it. it's pure spergy. it's so fucking simple don't commit surgery on the unwilling for no good reason.

yet instead of that we have what OP posted who is damn near thread worthy.

Is circumsion really that big of a deal? I ways thought it was another thing incels pointed to when whining about Stacy
it's pointless create's a risk no concent from new born and loses pleasure.
