The Mining Pit

Null you should also take more advantage of the fact that everyone on this site is autistic.

Make a ranking system for miners and some sped will go and spend $600,000 on a rig so he can win the imaginary prize. There has to be some dude from China using this website and in order to 'win da prize' he'll hack into his uncle's cryptoshekel mining operation.

Also add some Xbox-live like achievements for it because you know there's always those 1-2% of people who will do anything humanly possible in order to get every single achievement for games that they play.

There may have been posts/threads about it, but I mean this in a genuinely neutral way... what happened to Hatreon?
It is plausible that someone might have threatened 24/7 stalking until we were dropped. GhostGunner was currently in the middle of a lawsuit against the Department of Defense and wouldn't have had the resources to deal with a massive sped desperately trying to pull apart his companies like an angry, petulant child pulling apart the limbs of an insect.

Okay. That's unfortunate and understandable. You know I'm not a fan of bitcoin and I think there have to be some other options, but at least you were up-front about it. I'm not going to go on a massive rant because that wouldn't be productive.

Can I ask what this even means? In what way are you so bothered by the existence of cryptocurrency that even passively contributing to it upsets you in some way?
I wouldn't say I'm "upset" by cryptocurrency, more "disappointed." I understand that the creators wanted something that would buck against "fiat currency," which the US, admittedly, uses. There's an inherent instability to a currency that skirts the laws of the FTC. I'm not saying "omg it's illegal," because it isn't. I've been following Bitcoin since it first started (literally) and watched the massive bubble when a single bitcoin was worth hundreds, then less than a dollar, then 5 dollars... you get the point. It's only backing being how hard it is to "mine" and the fact that there's a solid upper limit to what can be mined concerns me.

However, if you're making money from it that you can spend and use on servers/supporting yourself/whatever, it's honestly not my call to make.

Edit: Right now, a US dollar is a US dollar... a Euro is a Euro. Exchange rates vary, yes, but in a manner that can be predicted. I can see why Bitcoin is appealing, since it doesn't follow the GDPs of countries, but it's far more unstable.

Since this was implemented KF uses an unacceptable amount of my CPU percentage, and my Firefox adblocker does not block it automatically.

I do not consent to my computer's resources being used this way.

Stopping the miner manually in the firefox console fixes this. If you want to do this yourself, go to your browser and type:

Code:
window.miner.stop()

Doing this is a massive pain in the ass because I'll likely have to do it every time I come to the site.

Is Cash just cash money?

BCH. It's the hard fork of the original Bitcoin blockchain. If you held on to BTC during the fork, you'll have both BTC and an equal amount of BCH (accessible via the same private keys as your BTC wallet). It's worth doing, since it's trading at around $450 these days.

@Null great to hear that you’ve implemented a Vordrak-proof way to keep the lights on!

I’m running an iOS device (iOS 11) that loads pages in desktop mode by default. I also have AdBlock Plus as a content blocker. Site load speed isn’t any different than normal, but battery usage and ambient heat are quite above normal, so I suspect my device is mining. Is there any dev console-like method on iOS that allows me to disable the mining?

I’ll happily mine on my laptop, but I don’t like my iOS device dying in a few hours... any suggestions?

My view on cryptocurrency is this - in a gold rush, the real money's to be made in selling shovels.

Well gosh, I certainly wouldn't want to intrude upon you. Just click the Kiwi logo in the bottom right until the green withers and dies and your culling of contribution to this site will be complete!

So when the troons beg for money on Patreon, we all point and laugh at them and tell them to fucking get a real job...but when we do it, it's okay, apparently?

Just trying to wrap my head around this.
Please, allow me to explain.

I have put in for work with jobs on my skill level. I have proceeded to the forth stages of job interviews with a starting salary of $100,000/yr. One in particular was so far up my alley it was laughable. I have senior work experience with a PHP-based payroll company and this was the exact same thing, a PHP-based payroll company in the US looking for a full stack web developer with extensive web administrative skills. That's me. Got all the way up until I was talking with project leads and doing online tests and they said it was all good, just one more thing left to do: a background check. I never heard back and they said they had put me in some repository for future consideration, which is a bullshit consolatory remark they all give when you happen to run a website called the Kiwi Farms and an absolute loon dedicates his entire life to calling you a child rapist.

It's completely within my grasp to change my name, but if I do, I will eventually leak my new name on this site somehow. I have a lot of papers I need to keep current to keep the operation afloat and if it leaks, it's all bust. Cross-contamination would render the entire effort moot.

So it comes down to a very simple choice. I either make the KF self-sustaining and able to carry me along with it, or I change my name and disappear and the KF will start trading hands as it shifts from person to person who will inevitably butcher it. The only people willing to take on a responsibility like this are going to either be power trippers wanting to use the site as a personal army, or people willing to make considerable consolations to people like Sam so they can go through life unmolested. I'm simply not going to take on part time work at a convenience store for the mere privilege of hosting this website when a community of some 15,000 people visited by over a million individuals every month should be more than capable of sustaining itself financially.

You should consider changing adblocks, this method has been known for a while already, your current adblock is shit for not being able to do it by default.
