Is it over for New York?

Now that the OKC/Nuggets series is over and done with, they're finally rolling out the awards.

MVP: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

All-NBA 1st Team: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell
All-NBA 2nd Team: Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Steph Curry, Evan Mobley, Jalen Brunson
All-NBA 3rd Team: Cade Cunningham, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Williams, James Harden

DPOY: Evan Mobley (this one's been out for a little bit)

All-Defensive 1st Team: Evan Mobley, Dyson Daniels, Lu Dort, Draymond Green, Amen Thompson
All-Defensive 2nd Team: Ivica Zubac, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jalen Williams, Toumani Camara, Rudy Gobert

Honestly pretty spot on this year, All-NBA wise I can't really think of any snubs. You could make a case for Trae Young over Harden or J-Dub, and I'd personally swap Steph and Cade, but team record matters. All-Defense wise I could point out Derrick White, Giannis, OG Anunoby, and Jaden McDaniels as options but I think it's more about the defensive talent in the league than them being true snubs. Can't really be mad at any of these picks myself. I've been a fan of Evan Mobley this season so it's cool to see him get a DPOY and an All-NBA spot so young, hope he keeps it up.

With regards to MVP, I don't have a problem with Shai winning. Team record matters and it's not like his season wasn't at least in the same conversation as Jokic and Giannis. While I still think the latter two are superior players to Shai, the MVP's never just been "who's the best player in the league" and nothing else. Michael Jordan and LeBron don't have 10ish MVPs, The 2000s were not monopolized by Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan, etc. Can't say I was seeking out OKC games to watch but Shai did have an MVP caliber season, it was just a strong year overall.

Thunder are ass how did they earn their season? How do you lose at a 1:2 ratio while you’re up 2-0.

It always embarrasses me to remember that it never registered in my mind that the Falcons' logo was also an F until I was 30 years old.
I used to think that the talon was actually the bottom of the beak and the head was the top of the beak and it was like an abstract zoom up of a falcon head with it's mouth open. So you aren't alone in being confused/ missing things with the Falcons logo lol.

Also to be on topic, I know that the series is still going but the difference in entertainment value between the Eastern and Western finals has been ASTRONOMICAL so far this year. Western needs to get it's shit together.

Looks like we might see the crowning of a new champion if the Pacers, Timberwolves or the Thunder win the NBA championship or having a team who didn't won a championship since a long while ago like the Knicks who won their last championship back in 1973.

I’m in the NY area and it’s rather confusing how Knick fans really think they should win the NBA Finals just because it took them 25 years to reach an ECF. Either if one is a fan of them or the Pacers, they are not beating the OKC Thunder, or the T-Wolves if they manage to beat OKC with an upset.

Timberwolves had a real shot at winning tonight, but they couldn't string together enough defensive stops. 4-5 times they got within 3-4 points, then let it slip away from them. Ant simply needs to play better next game, and they should look for more mismatches in the paint with Gober.

Ant has really taken a step down in my estimation these playoffs. I can't stand inconsistent "superstars" who give you 34 one night and 14 the next. Paul George/James Harden syndrome.

After that shitfest of a WCF they certainly won't be calling Ant the face of the league anymore.
To be honest I don't think Shai is either, he has no personality and isn't that fun to watch.
One of the problems with the NBA now is there is no clear "face of the league". My choice would be Jokic but he is a fat Serb who doesn't dunk so it's a bit incongruous.

How can anyone enjoy the modern NBA

Team A is up by 25 points in the 2nd quarter
Team B goes on a run and comes back
By the end of the third quarter Team B is now up 15 points
Team A comes back and wins by 21

Games are alternate stretches of teams getting buckbroken, whoever gets broken last loses

Or, Team A gets out to a 30 point lead and never comes back

Maybe 15% of the time you get a game that is competitive basketball for most of the game with a close or at least close-ish finish

How is this this fun to watch?

to add
- no defense
- everyone chucking 3s
- refs calling everything a foul
- load management/ players who sit out multiple games
I think the fucking UFL might be more entertaining than the current state of the NBA
