The second half was definitely watchable at the very least. It could have easily gone into OT if Urban Meyer knew how to manage a clock.

Why the fuck are you taking a timeout on 3rd and 4 to avoid a delay of game when 1) you're going to be calling a passing play 2) going to punt on 4th and 4 anyway? Let alone when there's still like 5 minutes left in the game. They essentially played themselves out of a W tonight.

This.... honestly could have been great if it were 2015.
:story:

Reportedly, the 2022 Super Bowl will take place on February 13th, 2022 in Los Angeles, as it will mark 30 years since L.A. had their last Super Bowl.

Would be pretty hilarious if the Raiders or Rams did not make the Super Bowl next year, and instead it will just be a random showing of Tom Brady doing what Tom Brady does best.
Superbowl halftime shows are a bit of a microcosm of their presumed advertising audience. Recently we've had shows by Gaga, The Weeknd, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Shakira and Timberlake which were geared towards late millennials. Prior to that there was a consecutive run of McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Springsteen, and the Who. That was so obviously meant to target boomers.

All I'm saying is that nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say, but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre.

Only the Lions can make the Bears offense look competent. Though these early games feel like upset city. Jets, Giants and Eagles have all been competitive against supposedly superior competition

This Chiefs-Eagles game is fun to watch. Two talented QBs, back and forth scoring with competent play, no blow-outs, and no major injuries so far. Not what I'd expect from two teams who are struggling to get back to .500.

Also coach Matt Nagy is somehow still employed, and Bear fans everywhere are pissed and despondent.
The Detriot game doesn't make up for the embarrassment to football that is Matt Nagy. I'm not convinced. But they play calling was better and Fields chucking deep almost makes me care about football again.

If they really cared about their supposed audience the halftime show would be country singers and Latin American pop stars. If every black person in America watched the super bowl they still wouldn't be the majority audience.

Can't wait for Eminem to throw up a power fist in honor of his nigga G Floyd. Maybe Carson Daly can introduce them from the TRL set like it's 2001 again.

I almost want to say that it was Lazor calling plays and not Nagy (what gives it away is the fact that the attack was balanced and the running game was allowed to do its thing instead of being cast to the side for jet sweeps, bubble screens, and 5-yard curl routes on 3rd and 19). It's hard to really do worse than what they did last weekend at Cleveland, and yeah, Detroit is a trash team, but the offense looked almost functional.

I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of ups and downs, but generally that's how it goes when you throw a rookie to the wolves like that.

The Niners lost Jimmy G due to injury and now the Seahawks are winning a game that they probably shouldn't be.

Cross out the "probably" for "definitely" but goddamn is it nice to break this losing streak against the Niners.
I hope SF is looking forward to the weeks of QB controversy they've definitely earned after Lance's performance in the 2nd half.

I'm calling Bucs by 14 and increased emergency demand for facial tissues and dilation rods in the Boston metropolitan area as ma boi Brady brings the regerts home.

Update: I stand corrected. Was not expecting things to be decided by a doinked field goal. I blame the rain for being a wild card for both teams.

Whatever. Brady broke yet another record tonight while getting that messy doubleyou, so the haters can still suck it regardless.

Am I the only one that thinks this Urban Meyer video would be a non-story if the Jaguars were 3-1 or even 2-2?

It's a story because the Jags look awful so far.

That and the fact that Meyer has a history of flouncing out of coaching gigs when things get tough. People have been making jokes about him developing a health condition by week 6 all offseason, this feeds into that.

A couple of pretty notable moves:

  • yesterday the Cowboys released 2019 Pro Bowl linebacker Jaylon Smith; the Packers are apparently looking into signing him

  • today the Panthers acquired 2019 Defensive Player of the Year and 4-time Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore from the Patriots for a 6th round draft pick in 2023

So apparently, it is leaking now because of the audit of the Redskins taking place that 10 years ago while a member of the Redskins, Gruden send Demarcus Smith an email with some racially charged language.

"Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires.”

Again, we are just hear about this now after 10 years.

Expect Gruden to be relieved of duties any time now.
