It all depends on what Payton wants, honestly. Saints can't shove him somewhere he doesn't want to be since he'll just stay retired.

I doubt he wants to deal with Russ or Kyler.
Sean's own public statements indicate that he's far more interested in going to a good organization, with a good front office and good leadership. I don't think he cares about quarterback so much, since those can always be replaced.

I would think that would rule out the Cardinals since they're a hot mess of an organization, although I suppose he'd be able to pick his own GM and get full roster control easily there.

The Cardinals are full on cleaning house. Sean might be more willing to go there than to other teams which have far more set in stone situations.

So Tua Migraine-all-ova is halfway to dead, Lamar's just been confirmed out, and Mr. Irrelevant is startin for the 49ers. This will be the year of the backup QB's.

I am very nervous for Sunday. Honestly though, if the G-Men beat us, I wouldn't even be mad. Seeing Danny Dimes become the second coming of Eli Manning would be hilarious.

As we go into the playoff season, I just want you to know that I want the Eagles to eat shit in the NFC championship game because I'm a Niners fan so EDP445 can die an angrier man than he already is.

I keep waiting for Brock Purdy to be exposed and it never happens.
I 100% believe that this year is a meme season for the 49ers. It'll be a thing where they end up winning the Super Bowl, everyone will be on board, then he'll shit the bed in the beginning of the 2023 season. It won't last.

Its in the Saints best interest to encourage a bidding war to get the maximum return.

Edit: Apparently, both the Cardinals and Texans are interested enough to request an interview with Payton. However, it appears that both the Colts and the Panthers are apparently already out of the running.
The Colts already being out makes me think that Irsay wouldn't give Payton roster control and is actually intending to let Chris Ballard keep his job, at least for another year.

Which is fucking stupid, because it was Ballard's chickenshit strategy of cycling out veteran QBs (because drafting a high round bust gets GMs fired, per the man himself) that put the Colts in this terrible situation. Reich did fine with the garbage he was given, with the exception of pulling so hard for Wentz.

TBF Irsay is probably gacked out of his mind on pills most days.

If they win the Super Bowl, Purdy should just retire so his legend stays intact. Anyways as a Niner's fan I'm rooting for them of course, if they're out then I'll probably pull for the Vikings to win the NFC just because they're the only team in the NFC playoffs without a ring. AFC honestly I'd be fine with anyone but the Chiefs or Ravens winning, but pulling for the Bengals mainly.

Broncos would be the best landing place for him overall.

Super Bowl worthy defense and Russ might stop fucking up since he knows Payton could just bench him without any real consequences.
The Broncos are probably in the front running for him, but the Saints are probably pulling for him going to Houston. Based on the draft capital each team could offer, the Broncos could actually offer the second least to the Saints. Neither Arizona nor Houston will part with their Top 3 picks for Peyton (who would want those picks to remain with those teams so that he would have something to play with), but Houston also has the Number 12 pick of the draft. As these possible trade proposals shows, this is probably the best deal the Saints could get for Sean that would allow them to pick high in this draft, as the highest pick the Saints could score with Broncos would be number 29, which is not ideal. However, the Texans are a very dysfunctional team, and it might be a longshot for Peyton to consider going there.

Lamar's back up is ALSO hurt, so Baltimore will be running out their 3rd string QB.

Allegedly Baltimore is considering putting the non-exclusive tag on Lamar this offseason, which would mean another team could sign him if they're willing to give up 2 1st round picks. Hilarious if it happens, but I would much prefer Bischiotti just firing Harbaugh and Roman and find a better head coach.

Seahawks vs. 49ers: Niners. Brock's meme train ain't stopping.

Chargers vs. Jaguars: Jags. They really turned things around the second half of the season and the Chargers are just kind of meh.

Dolphins vs. Bills: Bills. Even with a healthy Tua I'd still pick the Bills.

Giants vs. Vikings: Close, but I'm picking the Giants. Both teams got to the playoffs in spite of themselves. Minnesota shits the bed against competent teams, and the Giants are close enough to competent.

Ravens vs. Bengals: Bengals. TFW no Lamar.

Cowboys vs. Buccaneers: Cowboys. The Bucs are shit.

Honestly, considering the past 2 seasons with Lamar's injuries and possible fake injuries, I would just put some tags on him until he RG3's himself. Then you just rebuild again.

I agree, but I would much prefer dealing with it now rather than down the road when our good players are old.
