I don't think this sentence has ever been uttered before, but Chicago now has one of the most stacked offensive units in the entire NFL. If Bears can shore up that o-line, gatdam brahs.

I don't think a first pick QB pick has ever been drafted into a better offense.

It's Da Bears, they'll fuck it up somehow. Everyone knows its illegal for Da Bears to have a good QB. I tell you what though if anyones going to break Da Bears QB curse its gonna be this ZESTY ASS NIGGA.

If this dude wins a Superbowl I will paint my nails and post da pics here.

I don't understand, Detroit had the 29th pick and only one weakness on that team with no shut down corner. How did the rest of the league let them get Arnold? This is like 4 drafts in a row where they just get the best players at every position they draft.
Well the first half of the first round was every desperate team over-drafting QBs and the middle bit was mostly middling teams building the trenches, their only real competition for a corner was Philly.

Falcons GM on Penix. Imagine getting drafted so high up and then having to wait 5 fucking years to play.

Belichick avoided a disaster by being a part of this organization
Belichek would have drafted a former Rugby player as outside LB who could also double as backup punter. Or something.

As much of a Patriots homer as I am, and as much of Belichek fan (even now) as I am, the guy spent the last decade plus in the league doing the weirdest draft shit. And yet he insisted on wearing both HC and GM hats, go figure.

People don't realize the Cousins deal has multiple opt-out points. so realistically Kirk could play for a year or 2, and then Penix takes control in that timeframe. There's no guarantee that Cousins is as great as he used to be. Could some call it a stretch sure. But I think Penix has great talent and poise. I think the Falcons have an idea of what they're doing.

He might have traded back at that point. And I think an outside LB who could double as a punter would be more useful than a rookie QB who won't play until he's 27

If you are a good enough HC, you want to have full control over everything. Make sure the reason you get fired is what you do and not what some jackass in the backrooms decided to do to bring his own guy in

Falcons have far more pressing needs but I can't blame them for drafting Penix.
Dude totally reinvented himself and became the best pure passer in this draft class.

Cousins is a ticking time bomb considering his age and the injury he's coming off of. I'm surprised if he's even ready to start by Week 1.

Plus the Falcons royally fucked up by not drafting a QB ready to take Matt Ryan's spot and that's what got them in the current situation in the first place.

Kind of a lose/lose situation in reality.

I can, because JJ McCarthy was RIGHT THERE! He's 2 years younger than Penis Penix, and he would actually BENEFIT from sitting for a couple years (2 or 3) which is a more accurate time frame for Penix to start than 4 or 5 years. I dont see Kirk putting up with this Brett Farve will they, wont they bull junk for more than 2 years, not after they handed him all that guaranteed money, and especially not if they keep losing. Basically theyre saying that Penix at almost 30 is going to be better than McCarthy ever will which is just flat wrong IMO (idk we'll see how badly the Vikings fuck him up by throwing him to wolves week 1 because theres no way in hell theyre starting Sam "Luigi's Mansion" Darnold.) Im not opposed to them taking a QB im just confused as to why this one at age 30 is better than the rest of the draft.

The 2nd round (and late 1st) is where the REAL draft begins, the 1st round has become somewhat predictable (highlighted by the mentalist that ESPN brought in to predict the first dozen picks) its mostly just teams playing money ball with 5 year rookie option contracts. They pick one of the money positions (QB, T, WR, EDGE, CB), and hope they snag one of the elite talents so they can keep them locked down under cheap team friendly contracts that actually get LESS team friendly as the draft goes on, despite the fact they contracts FINANCIALLY getting cheaper and cheaper. Take Amon Ra and his most recent signing, it would have given the team more leverage to get him to take a cheaper deal. (Not that I want him to be paid less he deserves it but its always beneficial to have some cap space).

Im honestly just excited theres still a possibility the Lions could still get Cooper Dejean.

Are they trying to copycat what Green Bay did with Jordan Love 🤔?

Agreed. Penix has one leg barely holding in after 2 ACLs and the way he throws really bothers me. Granted he can chuck the rock but his mechanics just rubs me the wrong way.

My assumption is that they doubt they'll get a full four years out of Cousins before he falls off (which is probably why his guarantees are frontloaded for his first two seasons anyway.) So it'll be Penix taking over year 3 and them picking up his fifth year option. If Penix is good they look like geniuses because they managed to have cheap continuity at the QB position.

If Penix is bad they're all fired.

Really like what the Chargers have done getting Joe Alt early last night and now getting wideout Ladd McConkey after trading with New England (I actually thought they might have taken him there themselves) to get the #34 overall pick.

So he's going to be 28 or 29 before he first starts playing? How is that a good fucking problem to have? Either win now or draft a young QB. Belichick avoided a disaster by being a part of this organization
They're old guys who still think it's the 1980s and if you sit a guy long enough he'll magically become Steve Young. Dude's name is Penis so he's guaranteed to fail.
