Daniel Jones went from being a starting QB, to getting benched, to playing practice squad safety, to getting released in less than a fucking week
My God.
That entire staff is 100% getting blown up this winter

They're gonna go for Bellichick to come back and resurrect the team. He has a soft spot for the Giants and talks about his time there/with Parcells fondly quite a lot.

He also routinely makes fun of them for having people from the 80's still in the building, so I'm not quite so sure about that.

I hate it when that happens.

The Giants really did that. They put him through a humiliation ritual before finally cutting him. LOL. I love it.

Daniel Jones is a dork, and I don't like him. Good riddance, bitch!

Gonna be honest, the pendulum has swung enough that I kind of feel bad for him.
Sure, he played like trash, but the man has had to endure the NYC media absolutely tearing him apart the entire time he was on the team, his actual employer being in nothing shy of total organizational chaos, and now they subject him to this humiliation ritual because they made bad decisions and need a scapegoat.
tl&dr: force John Mara to sell the team already

Jones cost the Giants $160 million AND Saquon Barkley.

Fuck Daniel Jones. I have no sympathy. I only feel relief and joy right now.

Also, I've met John Mara. Classy dude from a classy family through and through. His biggest mistake was being so hands-off with the current GM going on his insane rampage in the off-season. If you've seen the Hard Knocks documentary, then you know what I'm talking about. Mara looked incredibly unhappy and anxious whenever he spoke to the GM.

Mara doesn't want to be an idiot like Jerry Jones who tries to micromanage everything to the point of the staff not being able to do their jobs properly, but I think he swung to far to the other side. Hopefully he learns from this.

It wasn't Jones who cost the Giants Saquon Barkley, it was Joe Schoen
He was adamant about not overpaying a RB because that was the current meme in the league and that led to Barkley going to basically his hometown team, who also happens to be a divisional rival, and going on a total revenge tour.
This shit is all mismanagement from the top down. Belichick clowns on this organization every chance he gets for a reason, and that reason is ownership.

All the Mara and Rooney kids seem like weirdos though

He kinda was though. Schoen was stupidly obsessive over Jones' contract when making the decision to let Barkley go and he picked Jones over Barkley. I think that Schoen should also be laughed out of the Giants organization along with Jones. Schoen weighed his choices, and he clearly chose wrong ... Colossally wrong. Like, "this will go down in NFL history as one of the all-time biggest blunders" wrong. We can blame ownership all we want, but it was Schoen who ultimately made the decision. Mofo couldn't even offer Barkley a franchise tag-- a really fucking easy solution to the situation that was "inherited."

Jones also fired his agent to squeeze even more money from the Giants. Some people are still defending this dork for "being classy," but I fail to see where that class is personally (but I digress).

I don't think that Mara is blame-free, don't get me wrong ... But demanding that he full-on sell the team sounds pretty extreme, IMO. It's also pretty much out of the realm of possibility at this point in time, given the Mara Family's history with the NFL. Perhaps with future generations we'll see the team being sold, but absolutely and definitely not with John.

As it stands now, Jones getting the boot is awesome. I also want Schoen gone. Not ready to say that I want Daboll gone as well, but I am glad that we're going to be seeing him coaching another QB to see if anything improves. I'm not the type of fan who wants to keep pushing the reset button, because that eventually becomes one perpetual cycle of "Square One" for the next few decades to come (a la the Daniel Snyder Era of the Redskins).

The 2022 season was the worst thing to happen to the Giants. It gave them a false sense of hope that's setting the franchise back a couple of years.
Couldn't agree more.

Don't get me wrong, I was cheering for the Giants to win and was excited about that season and the playoff win (and I always will be excited about that sort of stuff) ... But the second that Daniel Jones was offered that insane contract, the feelings of doom immediately set in for me.

Yeah Jones was never the whole problem or ever the worst thing about the Giants, but he was also given way more time to improve and more opportunities than people like Darnold on the Jets or Rosen on the Cardinals. So whatever I guess. Giants really fucked themselves, even thought with hindsight there still wasn't a better QB pick for them in 2019.

The Giants drafting Jones in the first place was a bizarre decision.

However, I am always going to wonder how things may have turned out with him had the Giants organization not rushed Eli Manning into retirement a year too soon and didn't treat Jones like he was going to be the Second Coming immediately.

Jones might have benefited being under Eli's wing for at least a season-- a lot of young QBs have benefited from this system of learning from a veteran. It's too late for Jones, though. He's been playing for far too long to be "learning the ropes" at this point.

I am seeing that some people are seriously entertaining the possibility of Jones going to the Cowboys before the Thanksgiving game. I'm sorry, but I don't see it happening. For starters, Jones couldn't learn a playbook in six entire seasons ... How is he supposed to learn one in 5 days, exactly? Also, the Cowboys have completely and utterly annihilated the Giants for the past several years. I highly doubt the Cowboys organization is thinking, "Hey, I think this guy that we've been spanking for 6 years can win some games for us!"
