Alternate reality Andrew Luck who was bad at Football. Actually wait, he's been in the league for 10 YEARS?! It's insane how far being a mediocore player can get you in the NFL. Well at least the Saints cap situation gets a little easier. Still bitter about him leaving Philly but rooting for Kellen Moore to turn NO around.Derek Carr is now retiring due to his shoulder injury.
Always felt a little bad for him despite being a Chargers fan. He always seemed to have a bottom half defense, and the one decent year he had, his leg got injured.Derek Carr is now retiring due to his shoulder injury.
Not really shocked. It doesn't get discussed a lot, but both Carr and his brother have some health problems. Along with the children they have had with their wives. From being athletes able to make it to the professional level they seem to have poor physical health genetics. Carr must of realized that this was downhill for him and he shouldn't make it any worse for himself.Derek Carr is now retiring due to his shoulder injury.
To give Carr some credit, he wasn't that terrible in terms of stats. You compare some of his stats to others in the league and he doesn't look that bad. Not quite elite but in a short range below it. More stable franchises that are capable of building teams and developing players could have gotten more out of him.Alternate reality Andrew Luck who was bad at Football. That's fair, it doesn't help that he only played for the Raiders and Saints, maybe he could have had a Darnold-esque breakout season if he went to the right franchise. To give Carr some credit, he wasn't that terrible in terms of stats. I was always hoping he'd take the Ben Johnson approach; give us another year gaining leverage and setting himself up in a better position to succeed at his next stop. You never walk into a great situation as a new HC and very few coordinators pass up the chance, but New Orleans didn't seem especially great landing spot.Still bitter about him leaving Philly but rooting for Kellen Moore to turn NO around.
It could really go one of two ways, Saints faceplant this season, potentially get a crack at an Arch Manning type talent, get a new GM and have a better cap space situation in the next two years, which gives Moore room to build a team more ready to contend.I was always hoping he'd take the Ben Johnson approach; give us another year gaining leverage and setting himself up in a better position to succeed at his next stop. I guess how safe is Loomis' job doing to be now that he doesn't have Drew Brees anymore? Maybe Moore is counting on that.
I know the one you're talking about. The guy's personality is rather reddit tier, but he makes good videos that bring up points I usually don't see get brought up and he usually looks beyond surface level data. The weekly breakdown he did brought up that Harbaugh did for SI(?) was interesting. There was like 45 minutes of play design in an entire week.I watched a good video a few days ago talking about how rare it is for OCs to be successful HCs because of how different a skillset is required between the two. Just from a layman perspective it seems like a no brainer you'd want a HC that is drawing up his own schemes, with the OC basically just as a support, but in practice a good HC is really just an effective manager who has an eye for competent coordinators they can lean on to help make decisions, on and off the field. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it, people give shit to Sirianni for "not doing anything", but clearly aside from missteps like Brian Johnson and Fatt Patricia, he's effective at plugging in the right people to do their jobs.
I couldn't really say how effective of a Leader Moore is, anytime players talked about the Coaching Staff this year you'd hear more praise being laid on Stoutland, Fangio, and even Big Dom than you did Moore in terms of leadership lol, but I guess it remains to be seen. He wouldn't be the first unlikely OC to HC success story, but it's a tall order for a guy that's really only had 1 standout season is going to hit the ground running.
Saints have a chance to use this and start rebuilding + get their cap situation under wraps. There's no way they can make a push for anything while constantly being 10s of millions over the cap every yearDerek Carr is now retiring due to his shoulder injury.
That family is cursed when it comes to being NFL QBs.Not really shocked. It doesn't get discussed a lot, but both Carr and his brother have some health problems.
From what little I know of the Saints, Loomis will never be forced out. Now if that's the case, why wouldn't they have done a rebuild years ago? Who the hell knows.I guess how safe is Loomis' job doing to be now that he doesn't have Drew Brees anymore? Maybe Moore is counting on that.
There's a reason it's called a game of inches. You definitely need a mix of leadership and thinkin' styles. e.g., Strategic, operational, tactical, player's coach, authoritarian, etc. Obv, the head coach needs to be the dominant force on the team, but the good ones manage to delegate so many responsibilities while still being in control.Terms like leadership, morale, and culture are thrown around as buzzwords because media talking heads have no idea what any of it means. They've never been in that type of organization doesn't really understand what effect it can have. Yeah, you know a good boss from a bad boss, but most bosses don't have the kind of control over employees that an NFL player has. I watched my unit go from getting discussed at war college for what we accomplished on our previous deployment to failing training cycles after leadership change. You need good leaders.
ROFL. You expect too much. The Saints will find a way stay in purgatory like their life depends on it.Saints have a chance to use this and start rebuilding + get their cap situation under wraps. I guess I should have phrased it as, this is what the Saints *should do* instead of implying that they can or would do itROFL. You expect too much. The Saints will find a way stay in purgatory like their life depends on it.
Not to sound gay but he's also got a great face for TV, I can see him getting a commentator job no problem.Carr had a good career. Not a great one, but beyond injury he was never the problem at either of his teams. Maybe a little better than his brother's?
Dude was also a high-tier bag securer, and is a family man instead of blowing his earnings on chains and child support, so I imagine he'll have quite the comfortable retirement.
Nah, no network will touch a white evangelical Christian, at least one as open about his beliefs as Carr is.Not to sound gay but he's also got a great face for TV, I can see him getting a commentator job no problem.
The NFL loves having an NFC East matchup Week 1. How many times over the last decade has Dallas-New York been the opening game for Sunday Night Football?Season opener is Philly v. Dallas. How gay. I wanted the Lions. At least Jerreh will be forced to watch a 21st Century Super Bowl banner get raised by his hated rivals. I have no idea why they did this. Eagles v. Cowboys games always do numbers. There is no reason to have it as the opener.
I'm going to laugh if it's literally because Dallas' cope last year was "muh 11 injured starters" and Jerr had to have a game where the maximum number of players were likely to be healthy.
I think they're just trolling Amazon by having popular Thursday matchups when Amazon isn't carrying the game, then sticking Amazon with Arizona v. Carolina or whatever. The NFL loves having an NFC East matchup Week 1. How many times over the last decade has Dallas-New York been the opening game for Sunday Night Football?
It really is such a lame opener, even if we give Dallas the excuse that the only reason they missed the playoffs this year was because of losing starters, they haven't got passed the Divisional round in literally 30 years, and the past three in particular have been middling at best. That aside, Dallas at Philly and vice versa are usually big enough games to get national slots anyway, so kind of waste to put all this effort for a season opener just to be a game that probably would have done as well or better as the late afternoon game on a Sunday in October.Season opener is Philly v. Tim Tebow is constantly on several networks doing football analysis and has been for years and he’s even more outspoken than CarrNah, no network will touch a white evangelical Christian, at least one as open about his beliefs as Carr is.
