Looks like someone is ramping up another scam class.

Just found this thread, shame it’s not more popular. Maybe it’s just because not many people want to don the hazmat suit to go onto Reddit where all the language learning retards hang out.

Has anyone reposted the guy who passed N1 by watching porn and incited a meltdown in the r/LearnJapanese subreddit?

Original post was taken down by mods but it was reuploaded on r/languagelearningjerk:
Passing JLPT N1 with the power of Nukige: My Study Method and Experience

/u/Kamata954

It feels so unreal, I just passed the JLPT with a 117/180 result by playing almost exclusively nukige and reading doujins, literally. I promised some folks that I’d make a post here about my peculiar study method if I passed the N1, so here I am. This is how I used my otherwise terrible addiction as a tool to help me study this god forsaken language. This is how I jerked myself off to success.

A bit of background, I started studying Japanese around the beginning of the pandemic, so this was February 2020. So it’s been like what, almost 3 years since I started learning Japanese now. I’ve been an active member of the Dark Japanese Tower Discrod but still frequent this reddit as I’m a redditor at heart lol. Oh, and I’m addicted to pxrn if that wasn’t already obvious kek.

What is a nukige?

A nukige is usually a form of visual novel that is made with the intent of getting the reader off. It’s different from eroges or typical visual novels with ecchi scenes in that it’s not (usually) as story based or as long as the typical eroge. So no, games like Muramasa, MuvLuv and Oretsuba aren’t classified as nukige even though they have sexual content/ecchi scenes.

How did I study?

Anyways, with that out of the way, let’s get real deep into this meat. How did I study by jerking off all day? Well simply put, every single day (except days where I was stressed or tired) I’d be reading and using some form of nukige/doujin/NSFW ASMR to study, often for multiple hours on end. I’d basically edge myself while reading nukige as I wanted to see how the story progressed and all the H-scenes, which meant that some days I’d be edging for 7-8 hours straight. I usually had my texthooker attached to the nukige but I’d try not to search up words during these sessions as it was medokusai as fuck with one hand. Once I realeased, I’d usually delete the game immediately unless a) The story was really good or b) The scenes were really good. During these cooldown windows I would try to get ‘regular’ immersion in by reading a SFW book or eroge that I was not reading for the soul purpose of getting off.

What did I use?

Okay so you must be wondering, what’s the sauce dude?? Okay, a little disclaimer, although my main source of immersion was nukige, I did try to spread out my immersion sources when I was on cooldown by reading books and watching regular anime. But my insanely high libido and crippling pxrn addiction (help ;( I’m not kidding) meant that I’d be reading some type of nukige or doujin or listening to some form of NSFW ASMR. Vndb was my best friend for this, as there’d be days where I’d just be scrolling through the tags on there for hours looking for a new fetish or interesting tag. I’ve pretty much seen it all at this point kek. But I’d typically see some of the more challenging nukige literature wise in the domination/femdom nukiges. They typically have to be very descriptive in order to convey the absolute domination of the MC or the girls, which was pretty hot but also very interesting as well so I gravitated heavily to those type of nukige. I’d also lean more towards the isekai/fantasy world nukiges as they’d typically have a story that’s better than the average braindead 「ああああ、気持ちいい!!♡」and they’d use new vocab that I haven’t seen.

Why? Just why nukige man? Why not \*insert other NSFW Japanese media here\*

Honestly, I just liked them better. JAVs were pretty lame and it was the same words over and over. Hentai/eroani was alright but it was usually a worse version of the nukige counterpart (my god did they butcher Tenioha 2!). Doujins were usually my back up plan if I felt for a very niche category that barely had any nukige. And I’d usually listen to ASMR while I’m reading doujins to double dip for both listening and reading (Thanks Eyemeric!).

Downsides of the nukige method

One alarmingly bad downside of this method is that you go further and further down the porn addiction rabbit hole as you search for more interesting and niche nukige to read/use. Like im not joking, it’s pretty bad for me rn (just cycled through my futanari phase, now going through my 男の娘 phase hahaha).

Another downside is that you might be tempted to skip the plot so you can get to the ‘plot’. In my experience, what differentiates a good nukige from a great one is it’s story balance. If it’s a great one then it usually wont take more than an hour to get to the juicy bits so I usually make sure to patiently read without honking the hog in the beginning parts. Depending on how good this part is, I usually decide if I’m going to be paying full attention to the story pass the first H scene or not. Anyways, as long as the story is good, it usually adds a lot to the experience so you’ll stop skipping parts less and less as you develop as a taste for these kind of things. Also, if you focus on femdom nukige, you kinda have to read the story to get the full context on how the MC is getting slowly dominated so you can self-insert so, yeah.

Reccomendations

I would link my vndb profile here but it only has like 15 or so vns on the profile because I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty ashamed of some of the content I’ve read kek. I usually only rate nukiges that I deem as a 10/10 or so but whatever. On to my recommendations

M-Size Nukige

M-Size is a nukige developer company that is known for making, you guessed it, femdom nukiges. They usually make some pretty hardcore stuff so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart but the stories are next level. Some of my favorites from M-Size are:
\-育精

\-熟圧

\-変態性癖ドミナンス - Femdom of Paraphilia

Pinpoint Nukige

Pinpoint is another nukige company that makes stellar nukige for a variety of genres. I usually read a lot of their Hime-sama works that takes place in a medieval setting. They are usually more difficult than the average braindead N5 level stuff. Some of my favorites are:

\- 世話焼き奥さんで人の頼みを断れない亜衣さんにお願いして中出しハメ放題のドスケベ妻になってもらった (This is a 10/10 must read)

\- 姫騎士ド下品敗北人生

\- 王女&女騎士Wド下品露出~恥辱の見世物奴隷

One last recommendation is てにおはっ!2 ~ねぇ、もっとえっちなコトいっぱいしよ?~. Tenioha is like, one of my favorite nukiges of all time and it’s what got me into nukiges tbh. I remember using clips of these back when pxrnhub had a lot of letsplays of nukiges on there and I’d use them daily kek. It’s just too fucking good, and the story isn’t hard at all.

Anyways, that’s pretty much it. I used all my adrenaline from passing the JLPT to pass this and I’m lazy as fuck so I wont be correcting any typos so sorry beforehand kek. You can find me over at Dark Japanese Tower (animecards discord) if you need me :). A big thanks to all of the members over there for allowing me to talk about the stuff I love and for pushing me to do this test haha.
Passing JLPT with the power of nukige: A follow up
/u/Kamata954

Hello again guys, thanks for the support on my last post! Unfortunately I don't think my original post will get banned which is a bit sad but shikatanai. I'm mostly making this post to clear my name about me being a troll and to provide proof that I actually passed the N1.

Here's my results for the people that were wondering : https://imgur.com/a/SVSdLLl
Would post the full registration number but I'm afraid of getting doxxed lol.

Also, here's a video of my output from a year ago for those wondering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-HPq9Y4b-I

Here's my book meter: https://bookmeter.com/users/1334211

And here's my vndb: https://vndb.org/u197080
As a I mentioned in my previous post, my vndb is a small representation of the nukiges I've read since I usually don't leave a review for a nukige unless it's really fucking good.

Anyways, don't know how much those will serve as proof but I just wanted to clear my name of being a troll. I'm just a regular dude that like smutty vns and decided to use it to study Japanese. Not saying it's the best or the most efficient method, but that's what worked for me.
A summary of the ensuing drama by r/SubredditDrama:
The language learning jerk goes too far when OP shares his unconvential study methods in r/learnjapanesehttps://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/s/iUlA1DDSjn
u/protostar777
Mods of r/learnjapanese draw the ire of subscribers when a single post causes them to update the subreddits NSFW policy.

**CONTEXT**

r/learnjapanese is the largest language learning subreddit on reddit, and centers around learning the Japanese language. There are many negative stereotypes associated with consumers of Japanese media, and being the largest language learning subreddit on reddit, r/learnjapanese is bound to attract some *interesting* individuals.

Japanese learners often measure their proficiency in the language using the *Japanese Language Proficiency Test*, or *JLPT*. The JLPT is held twice a year, all around the world, and is separated into 5 levels based on difficulty, from N5, the easiest level, to N1, the hardest. While still being far from true mastery of the language, N1 is the highest level, so is the target for many Japanese learners. The most recent test was held in December, and scores were released this morning January 23rd.

**THE ORIGINAL POST**

Following the release of scores this morning, OP was excited to find out that they had just passed N1, the highest level, and wanted to share their method for accomplishing this. See the mirror on r/languagelearningjerk (heh) here. The catch is this: OP consumed *lots* of "nukige". As OP themself explains,

>A nukige is usually a form of visual novel that is made with the intent of getting the reader off.

OP decides to get very graphic in their description of their study methods, saying things like:

>every single day (except days where I was stressed or tired) I’d be reading and using some form of nukige/doujin/NSFW ASMR to study, often for multiple hours on end. \[...\] some days I’d be edging for 7-8 hours straight.

or describing the fetish material that worked well for them. They discuss the downsides of other NSFW material like eroge (the distinguishing feature with nukige being that eroge have a higher focus on plot), Japanese Adult Video, doujins (self-published works), and ASMR. OP finishes the post by listing the titles of half a dozen works he particularly enjoyed, such as 王女&女騎士Wド下品露出~恥辱の見世物奴隷 (*The princess and lady knight's super indecent exposure: shameful slave showcase*)

**THE COMMENTS**

The comments are mixed, this comment captures the general feel of the comment section:

>bro this is both impressive and horrifying.

Some users express concern for OP's wellbeing, demonstrating clear symptoms of porn addiction

>Edging for 7-8 hours daily. Jesus fucking christ, man, that's some dedication for learning.
>This guy saw a red button that said "You become fluent in japanese but you get porn addiction" and pressed it

Others commend OP for managing to pass the N1 using their unconvential methods.

>I mean... Honestly... I´m impressed. I remember many people who never get above the N3 level, and here you are, passing N1 after two years. Good job.

**THE MODS RESPOND**

The mods quickly removed the post, no doubt due to its explicit content. Following this, the mods make an announcement
that they are updating the sub's nsfw policy, requiring all future nsfw posts to go through mod approval prior to posting.

Many users take offense to this rule change, with the usual "literally 1984" comments. Some think the mods are butthurt about the post, changing the rules just so they could delete it. Users who agree with the rule change face downvotes from others who think the prior nsfw policy was fine. As one downvoted user puts it:

>Good.
>
>Literally every nook and cranny of the internet is filled with NSFW crap. Tired of seeing it in my face all the time when I'm just trying to learn something or improve myself. It's even more awkward when you're an adult and you realize it's a teenager talking about it. People are so cripplingly obsessed with NSFW content and unable to control their urges. It's an addiction. So much degenerate brain rot everywhere you look on the internet.
>
>Yes, NSFW content exists in Japanese. It's a language, it's made to describe things. NSFW content being one of them. No, it does not *have* to be here unchecked. The comprise is requiring it to be approved. I think it's fair.
>
>Thanks mods.

Being many people's first exposure to learning a foreign language, r/learnjapanese has a stereotype of being full of "eternal beginners" (people who repeatedly go back to the same beginner materials without ever improving) and people who give up after a few weeks of learning. Some users think this is an effort by the mods to silence one of the few success stories with learning the language. As another user puts it:

>Seems like you want to keep discouraging people from getting better at the language by hiding methods from them. Some people probably didn't even know about visual novels or text hooking or yomichan before they saw that post.
Also, anyone remember that one subreddit that was called something like Japanese learning circle jerk before being banned for bullying (iirc)? It was like a combination of r/languagelearningjerk and r/Japanesepeopletwitter. I miss that place

It's where all the terminally online nerds are

It is a language that has appeal but requires a lot of effort and consistency, therefore it's good business to sell fast tracks into it.

It is the Get a Ripped, muscular Body of Languages.

It is the Get in God's grace and go to Heaven of Languages.

I find it interesting that language learning grifters gravitate around japanese.
Confluence of a variety of factors:
  1. It's a hard language for native English-speakers (or similar Germanic/Romance languages), so only the really motivated will stick with it. This filters out a lot of people, like how terrible writing in spam emails filters out a bunch of people.
  2. It is also useless outside of Japan, a middling economy since the crash, so the really motivated are not motivated by material gain. So people learning Japanese aren't going to be thinking in material terms, but in aspirational terms and more prone to psychological manipulation.
  3. Most people who want to learn cuz of the animu and vidyagaems, which brings a bunch of pathologies with it, like crippling social isolation and autism. Many see the idealized version of Japan as an escape from their own shitty lives (I believe this is true of MattVsJapan). Finally, those media have trained them to become massive fucking consumers, to think that all they need to do get to the next level is to put down a whole bunch of money on some product.

True Polyglots don't learn languages just to show off. They invest their times into discipling themselves for the reward of being able to talk with locals and building up from there. It reminds me of the Urban Exploration trend that has been hijacked by assholes, assholes who milk off this shit absolutely ruin it for me and they're doing the same for language learning as well.
A good example is Mads Mikkelsen (literally me).

At least playing video games and watching anime is a practical reason to learn Japanese.

The recent thing seems to be learning Japanese so you can buy a cheap house in rural Japan. Uhh...okay. It's not gonna be just like your animes. Even the Japanese don't want to live there...

Real talk I want to pick up a dying, arguable already dead language. It’s my grandfather’s language. There are multiple problems: it’s been largely supplanted by other varieties of Chinese, it is a Chinese dialect with no agreed upon writing system, so sometimes it uses mandarin words and sometimes archaic ones, and it is doomed and even the natives of its original province are starting to abandon it. Is this endeavour even worth it? It feels like learning Akkadian or something where in 20 years it’s going to go extinct. The only serious textbooks were written in the 1800s, modern ones are like little overviews of what was once a big language with a literary tradition. I almost feel like I have to travel to China and live a few years to absorb it. My family speaks like 4 dialects due to being from different parts but this one is my heritage language, which save for my grandpa no one in my immediate family bothered to pick up.

You’re going to get your organs harvested, dim sum bro :( Just embrace the glorious Han future.

May I ask what language it is?
I'm not sure about in China, but in parts of the world where your diaspora is, its quite possible it's surviving there and they may have classes etc (although very possibly could not be the cases too)
I think learning dead languages, and especially the languages of your ancestors, is important. You're keeping your culture alive.
If you can't find any good modern textbooks try and find some linguistic overviews on the language. I'm sure some grad student has at least written an introduction to the features and sounds. You might need to learn some linguistic terminology, but that will only help you in learning more of your language and others in the future.

You don't really need to go to Japan, or even another country, to buy a cheap house in the decline countryside. I think everywhere has dying rural communities, no need to learn another language.

Singaporean Teochew :(

What's interesting is living in Morocco is the vast number of natural native polygots, 90% of the population knows 3 languages, French, Arabic and Darija, then approximately 8 million people, or 20% of the population speaks Amazigh (Berber) on top of that, then when you go to the North of the Country, alot of the people speak Spanish despite the King trying to make it illegal, and you have alot of berbers there too to stack it for 5 languages now, then you add on learning English, and finally you get K-pop stans learning Korean.

It was perplexing watching my date and my friend after I introduced them randomly start conversing with each other in Korean to try to flex on each other once they found out they were both K-pop stans.

Also what was weird is as soon as soon as a group of Arabs learn English they prefer using it over Arabic among themselves.

I can speak fluent Spanish somewhat but it's Mexican Spanish it's incorrect.
But I can't write in any other language I understand a good amount of Ukrainian and Russian and that's it I would not call myself a polyglot I just needed a better way of screaming at Mexicans that they're screwing up it's more effective to do it in angry broken Spanish

But do you use punctuation in any of those other languages? Is it just English you’re retarded in?

Years ago, I mentioned Fluyo, but for those who don't remember: it's a new language learning app from the popular polyglot YouTuber Ikenna (889K subs), who around the same time got really sick and wheelchair bound. After years of development and $3 million of funding, including Ikenna's own funds from YouTube, a $1.2 million Kickstarter and some private funding, it has finally been released to the general public.

And the reviews are in, and ... ah ... ah, well.

Takeways:
  • Game is really goddamn buggy, with Bethesda-levels of kwality qontrol. It is also slow. iOS version is marginally better than the Android version.
  • The language is really badly graded, with 'intermediate' question being laughably easy. The target language is often mistaken or wrong.
  • The methodology is probably misguided as best.
  • There are much better language learning apps, like Anki, Speakly or even Duolingo.
The redditors on r/languagelearning are also disappointed:
One redditor argues that devs were using bots and such to promote Fluyo (ARCHIVE) and denigrate competitors like Anki (Astroturfing? Botting? In my subreddit? It's more likely than you think).

Fluyo conspiracy: I am not crazy

It seems the mods deleted my comment about fluyo's devs(especially you know who) using multiple accounts/bots/paying people some time ago to say bad things about anki and promote his app.
This happened two years ago when Fluyo wasn't even available to the public.I can remember this post which is talking about Fluyo, and everyone agreed with what it said.: https://www.reddit.com/r/languagele.../about_the_marketing_of_certain_apps_and_the/
Complains such as 'Anki's UI is ugly and outdated.' and questions such as 'Which app has all the features anki has but it is not anki?'
And at the same time, a youtuber released a video which is constantly being reposted here with titles asking 'WHO IS EXCITED FOR X!?'.
In my opinion, and I could be totally wrong, this is cheap marketing for the app from said youtuber which I refuse to name.
I found some comments and posts that are still there, but a lot of them were deleted(or the account is deleted), and it is really difficult to find comments from those accounts, because some of them were not in posts about anki, but about other apps too.

Examples:

https://www.reddit.com/r/languagele...utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1 (in this one there is a comment mocking the fact that there were a lot of posts and comments complaining about Anki at that time, and people agree)

“Once you see it, you really can't unsee it, can you?”
“Ngl, this is one of the most stupidly transparent marketing campaigns I've seen in a while. “
https://www.reddit.com/r/languagele...utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1 (I suppose this one is one of those posts)

I am not saying all of those were made by the same author, I’m sure some of them are legit. But there were not one or two posts, there were A LOT of them every week. It was insanely obvious something shady was happening, and it began out of nowhere.

There were(what I suppose were paid people) posts advertising the app that I don’t think are accounts from the guy. For instance: https://www.reddit.com/r/languagele..._a_linguist_and_translator_im_stoked_for_the/

That account posted the same thing twice, in the duolingo subreddit too, with a link to the guy’s channel and video. But I could be wrong, and it is just a coincidence…

I was not able to find any of the comments saying that fluyo is a better alternative to anki, I suppose those were deleted, and reddit doesn’t show stuff in chronological order. But I remember them saying stuff like "the srs algorithm is better”, or “It is simple to use and not as confusing as anki, which has a 1000 buttons and you shouldn’t use it”. “ You can’t customize anything in anki, and it is really complex and difficult to use” And stuff like that

You shouldn’t take my word for that last part, but I am sure that happened.

So what's the point of this post? The mods deleted my comment saying that I didn't have evidence, well, I hope this is enough evidence that this happened and I am not making it up. Finally, I don't agree with one of the other comments saying that the guy is a scammer, I have not seen anything like that happening, but it is clear that he made an advertising campaign shitting on anki, and there are posts talking about it from two years ago. Maybe he changed and it's a better person, I don't care, doing that is not cool, especially when you are driving people away from using a well made software that is completely free and is actually proven to be useful to learn languages.

The anki devs deserve respect from the community.

It would be nice if they can turn it around, but I kind of doubt it. It's really sad.
