Raiden is especially a pooner, even after getting his cyborg body, which you'd think you'd check the "dick" box if you were getting an entire new body attached anyway.

It messes with the whole game world. If Naked Snake had been born a woman, The Boss would have kicked her ass whilst imparting batshit philosophy the minute any "identify as" came out. Whaddya mean, you're not a woman? Answer carefully. The story would have gone on the same after that, Big Boss would just have some big boobs and no beard, and I guess Liquid would have had to wear something under the Foxhound trenchcoat.

I’m so sick of being told that this never happens, that minors neeeeeeverrrrr get their body parts chopped off for no good reason. People who ignore and/or excuse this have a special place in hell.

Maybe it's intense pessimism about the future or feeling hopeless and that there's no reason to think about future consequences, but zoomers have absolutely ZERO concept of permanence. It's shocking how so many in this generation are "do first think later" especially with how hardwired many are to following whatever social media trends they see.
When it comes to pooners almost every one I know has had The Chop. Almost like it's sold as a rite of passage, like getting your license or a tattoo or something.
It's really sad to think just how many people are going to regret this when they detrans (and how many feel locked in to being trans as a result of it and ACK!)

I wouldn't put it past Genius Kojima to write a pooner character at some point, but for existing characters, the transgenderism gives you no storytelling advantage whatsoever. Besides, you'd think that the poon-authors would notice that 3/5 of the Snakes are canonically kinda bothered that they were genetically engineered into sterility, and "if I'm an infertile woman I might as well be a man" is what they call "problematic."

A story about a known character being transgender could be handled well, in the AU sense, but the way the modern pooner writes it seems to be a completely unrelated story using the characters, and then as an afterthought they're going to throw in one or two characters having a vulva. Not just Metal Gear; this is everywhere.

Can't just tell an interesting story about two dudes being locked up and fighting their way out; one of them now has a vagina but the other dude and also the mad scientists and their grunts are being super progressive about everything so he might as well not have it in the first place. These people have not heard of Chekhov's Gun.

PWP is its own beast. If someone is writing a story about just fuckin' and they make people have different genitals, it's a plain old fetish/stroke story and that kind of thing is expected. Same as nobody much cares if someone writes a PWP and there's also piss everywhere, but it's disappointing when someone knows how to punctuate, has an interesting idea, and writes an eight chapter opus exploring it and also people get pee in their mouth a lot. Except the pooners aren't even really fetishizing themselves most of the time, which would be more understandable. They're just sticking in their gender identity the same way a Christian mom writes fanfic where Harry Potter finds Jesus.

I lost the thread of my argument a bit ago but I know this: if Solid Snake had a vagina, we would have been informed about it in a series of cutscenes.

I think Metal Gear is particularly infested by pooners because it has a delicate balance of macho-esque, "Dooood guns and war and milsim dood!" aesthetics along with prissy drama and dollhouse bickering.
Combine that with a vaguely homoerotic attractive male cast and you've got the exact same recipe that draws pooners to make ever single anime ever into yaoi slash.

I hardly ever post here, but I’m just popping in to say I’m convinced a lot of it is closely related to whatever motive has traditionally lurked behind omegaverse/mpreg themes, too. I could probably write a whole damned essay on how these people seem obsessed with the concept of men being women in all but appearance and name, especially all the shittiest aspects of biology.

You also have to keep in mind, the vast majority of Gen Z is under age 25, and people that age are always bad at thinking in the long term, as a general rule. A good grasp of the concepts of risk and permanence seems to be one of the last things to develop in people's brains.

People always bring up the 41% as the leading killer for troons, which is fair. But most trannies are very, very young. Between 12 to being in their 30s. People like Buck Angel only been trans for 30 years. That is nothing.
And yet already they are dying from autoimmune diseases, cancer, heart disease, and kidney failure.

The 41% isn't the real danger. Its the fact that even though they may not kill themselves, they are still going to die prematurely. There is not a single person alive right now who is in their 70s that has done HFT for over 30 years, and there's not a single person alive who went through puberty blockers and is an elder. Literally all of this stuff is brand new.

Let that sink in for anyone considering transitioning, or for anyone who is on the fence when it comes to denouncing trannies, or anyone trying to save someone from trooning out. All of this is brand new, and yet the death toll is comparable to diseases like obesity and alcoholism. How can you say something is safe when theres no data?

There are MtFs that have lived into their 70s and beyond (Elizabeth Coffey aka "Chick with a Dick" from John Waters' "Pink Flamingos" comes to mind), but you're right that Pooners are a new phenomenon that's never been as widespread as it is today. Buck Angel is really the only prominent example and even she was on the verge of dying due to her uterus almost killing her (she'd never had a hysterectomy, which is recommended for FtMs sooner rather than later). Testosterone is just a more powerful hormone that estrogen, though fucking with your endocrine system is never a good idea.

And Buck almost died due to transition complications too. Her vaginal atrophy gave her sepsis and almost took her out in 2011 ( she would have been 49). The fact that she is alive is nothing shy of miraculous.

Female socialization apparently forbids her from getting to the fucking point but she eventually discusses her story after talking in circles. This is from 2019. I really don't like how nonchalant she is about this. She literally says that no one fucking knows about the problems that come with transition and most doctors treated her like an untouchable freakshow. The only thing of value she can say about being transgender is telling tomboys and lesbians and any other woman who feels like an outcast to not follow her down this path.

Buck started taking hormones at 28, well into adulthood. Meanwhile, most TIFs I see start transitioning as teenagers and take hormones in their late teenhood and early 20s. Buck's near lethal issues showed up about a decade into transitioning and these issues can vary from person to person. Maybe 41 isn't the suicide rate, but the age most of them will never see.
