I'm gonna level with you guys. I'd rather watch this documentary with my eyes forced open Clockwork Orange-style than sift through yet another thread full of "THE SIMPSINS ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORRRREEE!!!!"

I don't care what anyone thinks, Apu is fucking hilarious and so is Fisher Stevens from the Short Circuit movies as well as Peter Sellers from The Party.
Oh geez, someone referenced Apu in relation to someone from India? So today, I stumbled across The Problem With Apu. A documentary all about how Apu from The Simpsons isa tool by whitey to keep the Indians downleaving behind a "problematic" impact. "Problem" is literally in the title. This ought to be good.
Leave your thoughts and comments down below.
Minorities running convenient stores has been seen over and over for the past few decades at least (I recall Tiny Toon Adventures having an Indian store clerk in an episode involving a character shoplifting).Oh geez, someone referenced Apu in relation to someone from India?
How dare they! Don't they know that's... quite...
What the fuck is the problem?
Literally, what is the problem here?
Sure, Apu has a rather peculiar way of talking which is used for comedic purposes, but he's a character from a comedy show, so where's the fucking problem. The guy is talking as if using stereotypes for comedic purposes is racist and equates it with blackface. It's a ridiculous hyperbole and anyone worth his salt should just tell him to grow a spine.
Seems like people just can't handle jokes anymore, or even laugh. That's just sad.And besides, Apu is a really hard-working, polite guy. There's even some social commentary about how highly eductated people might get stuck in menial labour since their degrees aren't aknowledged in 'Murrica or some other similar nonsense - after all, Apu is highly educated and stuck in a dead-end job that he still does to his best ability with a lot of dedication.
It's like the shitstorm about Speedy Gonzales being a racist stereotype for wearing a mexican hat and saying mexican words every now and then.
Both Apu and Gonzales have a lot of positive traits and while the writers do take advantage of stereotypes, it's never malignant and the good and positive aspects of these characters heavily outweight the supposedly negative ones.
Hell, there is more jokes about Apu being a workaholic that gets shot down by Snake Jailbird than him being Indian.
He's also a ladies' man and does the best with what he's given in life.Oh geez, someone referenced Apu in relation to someone from India?

Damn.Guy was on NPR. He almost makes an Entersperg sound sane.
I thought that was the point. I guess some just don't see it.Before he debuted, the writers were worried he might come off as offensive. They figured that the trick is to write him like a person. Who would have thought that?
Just because it's hip and cool to sperg about racism now, I assume.I wonder what this guy thinks of the Harold and Kumar movies; they're more recent. I honestly wonder why he took so long to make these accusations when the show isn't as relevant as it is now.
