I thought the protagonist being super androgynous was weird, but apparently The book the whole series is based on Digital Devil Story: Shin Megami Tensei makes a point to talk about how androgynous the protagonist is. So I guess they are going back to their roots.

Game looks way higher budget than I expected, no wonder it took so long. Only negative part is that ugly recycled TMS UI. That game was made on a shoestring budget, so hopefully this turns out better.

It think it just has to do with the fact the Western trailer spends time explaining the systems and what SMT is.

The Japanese one does not.

So they cut/replaced content in the western trailer to do those explanations.

I've been looking for a way to play the orignal Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin physically, but they're either too rare or super expensive. Eventually I will emulate them to see what they're like.

I'd recommend emulating the Persona 2 Duology on PSX. The PSP version of Innocent Sin is so fucking easy I literally beat the final boss on rush mode. From what I've heard, the PSX version still gives a bit of challenge.

I'm gonna miss my bro Mido but I'm not gonna complain about this lady being the new head of the Cathedral of Shadows.
I've also heard her name being Sophia may or may not have some sort of relation or reference to the Demiurge from NINE.

People are concerned at this change. General gist I've heard from people translating it is that Raku/Suku/Taru-kaja/unda is 1 party member gets buffed/nerfed +1 stage for 3 turns no idea if it stacks yet, assume it might because lol +1.
I'm offering speculation; It can be full party only with the magatsuhi meter ability slot (or with Ma- prefix). Same goes for Hama/Mudo because those apparently don't instakill anymore and there is no smirk in 5.

You have to understand that most western audience watching that nintendo direct/E3 has to be taught like a special needs kid to understand the idea of SMT.

most of these niggas haven't even played the game. It reminds me of when I used to be subscribed to game informer before they really cucked out. During one of their annual april fools day segments there was a parody article about a man who claimed to be an expert in dark souls not from actually playing the game but by watching lets plays. The Nahobino/Nahobi-no-Kami parallel is intentional and the long blue hair is supposed to be a reference to Masakado, the T-posing samurai of legend.

Sophia seems cool. Mido sort of killed the vibe of 4

Makes sense buffs arent party wide without Ma and in 4 instakill needed the ma prefix to be partwide
